Meta 🤖It is possible that Lego is trying to use memes and vote manipulation to drive sales of their products for Christmas (self.dankmemes)

We are using /r/FuckLego to track this situation.

Basically what is happening is that there is an influx of memes so bad only a marketing intern could have come up with them.

Its not a free market if companies are buying upvotes. However, maybe we are just completely missing what this format of memes is. If enough users agree, we would be happy to reverse this decision. It is a temporary ban anyway.

/u/legoisgreat is 4 hours old, but /u/Lego1999888 is 46 years old.

I checked their account on the mobile site, and it says they joined on December 5th, 1969. On the regular site they say the account is suspended.

Thats just a bug. Their accounts creation date was reset. December 31st 1969 is 0 in unix time so it must have looped over to being negative. It was probably 26 days old (31 - 5) if I had to guess

Personally I don't think its vote manipulation, the memes are bad on purpose because the makers know that reddit will upvote anything trending. If it is about lego star wars and it is beyond terrible as a meme, it actually ends up bein ironically funny and gets upvotes anyway.

Maybe I'm not in the loop enough to understand the second one. Or maybe I was primed. All the other mods were texting me telling me shit was going doing so when I started looking at posts I was expecting them to be shitty shill posts. I grabbed these examples from the modqueue. There may have been worse ones that they removed.

In any case, we are working with reddit admins to determine what is really going on. And once the situation is resolved, we will lift the ban on lego memes.

The admins are reviewing the links we've sent them. I sent the most suspicious ones I saw. The other mods are supposed to find the most suspicious ones they removed and send them aswell.

The mods who made the announcement forgot to message the mods and by the time I got involved, the admins had already contacted us. Apparently there were posts about it in /r/conspiracy and /r/HailCorporate and people were contacting the admins about it.
