I’d someday like a holographic image of a female house mate. Even if semi-transparent and no physical parts .. she could be changed or deleted with a software update. I wouldn’t mind if there was no mass .. just form enough for communication and the ability to navigate the entire house and close outdoor proximity. I don’t know about programming .. if female programmers were involved there’d be issues in the software. Yet, to be realistic .. I just don’t know who would provide the personality of the holo-image. Same way with the fem-bots .. who will program them? .. will undoubtedly be a question that will get lots of future attention .. and discussion among both buyers and designers.
The whole thing would depend on how complex this guest would be. I’m content right now with a notebook and current technology. The only thing that would get me to lay down some dollars would be the two way interaction. There would have to be some real random surprises to make the relationship interesting .. verbally, likely with a seeded random number generator producing surprise after surprise as a near infinite number of novel programs kick in in unanticipated ways. In other words (and unlike a boring and often lazy organic female) .. I’d want a very clever bot filled with surprises to make the relationship interesting. Thus, the catch-22 .. I don’t want a bot to necessarily be programmed by a male, yet .. if a female programs it .. it’s gonna be a real bummer filled with issues.
The collaboration of Anime software designers with Ukrainian female programmers might be the best one could hope for. I’ve always felt that Ukrainian women have a few personality traits that are attractive enough to be included in the final bot .. so a collaboration between female programmers who are native citizens of the Ukraine .. filtered heavily by the careful eye and creative minds of the Anime geniuses .. would likely produce the results that would be closest to acceptable that we could hope for. They would slip in some Awalt issues, yes, but not nearly as bad as if programmed by other females .. and probably a little more unpredictable in an interesting way than if all the programming were done by males .. or entirely by the world of Anime.

Any futurists here care to guess how long it will be before they are Cherry2000 or Westworld level real? It really doesn’t matter if they act human but behave at least like a sex partner in bed rather than a plastic inanimate object. That’s when I’d consider trying one.

I agree. I’m long past the need for sex of any kind but a useful companion around the house would be nice. Someone to talk to now and then. I don’t get out much except to the store and hunting. So yeah a virtual house mate I can turn on and off would be OK.

Yes! It’s always warning this and warning that, followed by the shaming of men who might be the tiniest amount interested in trying a sexbot.

It sounds a lot like computers and internet, they warned people that human interaction would die out with the internet, but we have more in common with people from the other side of the planet than our own neighbours. More important: boys and men who dived deep into everything concerning computers are, yup, nerd/losers/basement dwellers who can’t get laid. And women who do it are “strong, empowered, you go girl”. Sigh.

Hell, even when the phone was invented, people shouted that it would kill off all human face-to-face interaction, so I don’t know what they’re so afraid of.
