Feminism is the pursuit of equality in regards to women's rights. It has manifested across centuries and continents through various movements, currents and ideologies.
Welcome to the feminism community! This is a space for discussing and promoting awareness of issues related to equality for women.
Please observe our rules - all top level comments, in any thread, must:
- be informative: i.e. aim for facticity, and avoid merely expressing non-feminist preferences;
- come from an educated perspective: all ideological considerations must demonstrate actual understanding of the relevant feminist concepts;
Comments consisting of exploratory/follow-up questions, in good faith, constitute an exception to these requirements (though we do encourage reading our definitions/studies sections of the FAQ, linked below).

Rules regarding debating:
Criticism of feminist concepts/organizations/persons is welcomed if it meets the following criteria:
- it is topical/directly relevant to the topic at hand;
- it is verifiably sourced (i.e. it doesn’t rely on mere dismissiveness/speculation, non-feminist preferences or anecdotal evidence. In particular, pure anti-feminist propaganda is not allowed, since personal non-/anti-feminist preferences are deemed as not informative or relevant); furthermore, presentation of relevant data must not be biased against the feminist position (i.e. there should be a best effort to include the evidence/arguments supportive of the feminist position);
- it is properly qualified: i.e. it correctly identifies the problem at the appropriate level, instead of unwarrantably generalizing it, especially if it does so for the whole collection of movements that constitute feminism;
- all ideological considerations must contribute to understanding the feminist perspective, and be consistent with an attitude of encouragement towards further learning.

I just heard about this community and Reddit(new to Reddit) from my friend and wanted to check it out. Still not as fluent in the relevant theory as I should be, but I figure this is a good place to learn.
I'm curious if anyone has considered what kind of structure we would want to put into place if we ever got what a society which would be fair to all people?
My fundamental belief is that what we have seen out of male, patriarchal, Christians has to be stamped out in order to make the world a better place. We of course need male allies in this fight, but after in the grand scheme? I'm not so sure. Society will need to be set up in such a way that it perpetuates feminist standards for men (speech and behavioral laws perhaps so misogyny won't get off the ground again).
The reason why I am posting is because I am so frustrated dealing with the stupidity of Trump supporters.I had the unfortunate experience my Latino friends who are gay get harassed by Trump supporters(one of whom is undocumented). They made the comment that "Better kiss your boyfriend now before Trump builds that wall and deports him!". I wanted to follow him out from the bar and make him feel what we are all feeling and perhaps a little physical pain so they know what will happen if they push is too far. I didn't go through with it, only because one of the guys didn't want anything coming back to him about his immigration status.
I think it's because of their Christian ideology(which provides the intellectual framework for this hateful behavior) that has them thinking they have it all together. In a better society, wouldn't we be better off stamping out Christian influence, or atleast no influence outside the privacy of one's homes and thoughts? If it were up to me, I would make it to where Christians were not allowed to have any influence on government, churches are taxed and monitored for any hateful content, and some sort of speech codes were put into place to ensure that all people have a safe environment, relating to religion. I'm trying to temper my words as I truly have a lot of anger toward Christians for what they have done to the country, if only I could live to see a French Revolution 2.0 with only bigots at the guillotine who hide behind religious faith.
Maybe I'm just too mad and hurt to be thinking clearly, can someone help with something more constructive? It's gonna be a long four years and I'm hoping I don't do anything crazy and join some active liberation group or something.
