A+ title.

Can you explain it?

Three parenthesis around something is a not-so-secret way of saying the person/group is Jewish. It's used by anti-Semitic people, except in this case it's a joke, because Jesus was Jewish.

Does the TSA stop a lot of Jews?

Jesus was likely brown and bearded.

The joke there is he's from the middle east and probably looked like many of the people who get profiled by the TSA.

The excess use of parentheses indicates a belief by the writer that the subject is part of the Jewish / Zionist conspiracy. It's used by white supremacists and new-Nazis online. Check out alt-right and Trump subs to see it in use.

The reason why the title is great is because Jesus was a Jew.

I did see them but didn't know what they meant. It makes sense.

Jesus was a Jew

I'm pretty sure he converted to Christianity at some point though.

[–]hiiilee_caffeinated 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

Funnily enough this is actually a killah priest song on gza's album if im not mistaken.

Ya, I realize that, figured it would be easier for people to find if I just put GZA.

And all google results of Cesare Borgia being the inspiration for Christ are on black conspiracy websites. Hilarious how they also think they were Egyptian kings.

Egyptian here, there were Nubian dynasties

I was thinking of adding something about the Nation of Islam influence on the lyrics, as the whole 5% thing isn't something I want to spread around.

Don't censor it. Jesus. If you buy into five percenter shit, you're stupid. Still love wu tang though

Consider the Christian who hates Jews - you know, the race of their Lord and Savior, and who they claim is the King of the Jews, which Jews themselves are not so in agreement about. It's pretty good material.

[–]FricasseeingRabbitNew York City 173

This is a good joke that makes me angry.

Does that make me an angry white guy? Yes. But I don't get annoyed over jokes about white guys because they offend me as a white guy. I get annoyed because they're easy fucking jokes.

I figured out a year ago that anything I said on stage that came off as misogynistic I could just fix by changing "women" to "white women." Its really that easy. Everyone just laughs and laughs and laughs.... "White" is the game genie for your jokes that gives you invulnerability.

The same works for "guy." This joke is really about white people, not white men. But guy is added in there for bonus points so you cut the target of the joke in half and let women know they're not on the hook for this one, even though they should be.

Then instead of opening the joke "white guys" which is already playing the game on easy mode, you open with "angry white guys", making it clear that you're not talking about yourself, you're talking about THOSE white guys. So you don't own any of the self-deprication.

ALL OF THAT SAID this is an excellent joke. It has truth and hits a real double standard hard. The TSA bit is funny. and since I care more about the actual joke than the politics, it's an upvote from me.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think "guy" is being used to the effect you think it is here. The joke would have worked the exact same way with "people." Hell, in the next paragraph, you have "folks" being used. I don't see any "let me turn this joke onto men to make it funnier" going on.

To be fair, white guys were in charge when all the official decisions in the times where Jesus was white washed.

Sure, but the depiction of Jesus depends on the environment in which it's being depicted. The Japanese depict Jesus as Japanese, the Indian depict him as Indian, Europeans depict him as white, etc.

Damn. I think you're right.

He is, it's an easy target and you don't get the "racist" thing because white people are a "protected class" according to the court of public opinion. These fruits are so low hanging, you need a shovel to dig em out.

I think at that point, they're technically roots. Or tubers. Either way, not fruit.

I disagree. Mostly because I think all racist jokes are easy jokes. They don't offend me or bother me, just don't think they're funny.

I agree with you for the most part. It just kinda plays on stereotypes, and once you're familiar with the "formula" for any given race you can pretty much see where a joke is going before the punchline arrives.

White people -> Joke will be about privilege and/or being uncool
Black people -> Joke will be about street vernacular and/or incarceration
Asian people -> Joke will be about academic intelligence, food, or inter-Asian racism
Hispanic/Latino people -> Joke will be about accent, spicy food, or car culture
Indian people -> Joke will be about accent or strict parents

There are exceptions to any of those, but by and large if you hear a racial setup it's usually gonna arrive at one of those punchlines.

[–]NathanTheSnake@NathanTheSnake 7

This is an interesting perspective, and in some sense I understand it. However, I don't see it as "easy mode," but rather the natural need for comedy to punch up. For straight cis white male comics, there's not a lot of other places to punch but down - if we do too much self-deprecation - they just call us "self-hating white guys" and complain anyway.

From a joke-writing perspective, it's "easier" to make fun of a white guy, as opposed to a member of a historically oppressed minority group. But internet commenters and comedians are the only ones who care about "degree of difficulty." Your average club audience member doesn't see 1000 comics making "easy" jokes - they see 1 guy making fun of someone who has it harder than them.

That's actually a pretty great analysis. "Angry white guy" makes for a perfect butt of the joke because everyone can come up with a picture in their mind that isn't themselves, and feel good about laughing at someone with "privilege".

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] 2

I see what you're saying James but the target and inspiration for the joke is definitely a group of white dudes. I don't see a ton of female posters on The Donald. I understand the shift of "women are dumb at Starbucks" and "haha white women are dumb at starbucks"

But the group I was lampooning for calling people special snowflakes is honestly white men. I know some white women are conservative as well and yell about participation trophies and the like. But this was directed towards the alt-right sort of folks on TIA and T_D and Twitter who call "blue haired SJW's" special snowflakes who need safe spaces.

And then the rest of the joke is just about the arrogance of white People making God a white dude. I'll prolly do it much differently on stage but yeah white dudes specifically where very much the inspiration.

It's a good joke man and definitely plays on the hypocrisy of the alt-right and T_D redditors. White men can and should be able to take the hits better because they've always been on top. That's how I see jokes like this. Which is why I'm actually annoyed when white men get upset over jokes like these because they just look more like babies. They love punching down and arguing for "anti-PC culture" and then can't take a joke when someone punches back up or across at them. People need to brush it off and laugh and take the "anti-PC" jokes that are aimed back at them.

Seriously, great joke man. I want to share it on social media because it effective makes the point that I've been wanting to make about this, but I'm afraid I might have some butthurt friends that live in a bubble that would get upset over it.

I guess he has a point because saying "white guy" instead of people doesn't really change the joke but when you're at that level saying white guy or not shouldn't matter because it becomes pretty clear who you're talking about anyway

like if you opened a joke with "people who live in Harlem" instead of "black guys" it wouldn't really matter

Why does this hack shit still get seen like it's innovative? Bill Hicks and George Carlin did this stuff 35 years ago!

Oops I forgot to tell a joke.

Is this meant to be funny, or was it written by some algorithm designed to appeal specifically to reddit? The snowflake thing doesn't carry over at all. There are shit tons of non-white people who disagree with the attitudes of snowflakes, and the second half isn't even snowflake related. Then, white Santa/white Jesus thing has been done over and over and over.

But it's got "white people suck" and "religion is silly" and "let's focus on trivial details and miss the point entirely," so ofc reddit gets a hard on.

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] -4

[–]I_STAB_HIPSTER_FILTH 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

He thinks people who believe in White Jesus and people who read comics about black spider-man have an overlapping demographic?

The fuck, do you think there's cowboys in fedoras?

There's a lot about this joke that just feels slightly off, in a way that I think people don't realize in the audience. I love jokes where you can compare one thing to something else, and everyone starts dying because they immediately just get it? Not every joke could or should be like that, but I think those show that the audience lays out the information you give them faster and with better anticipation than they even notice. Like words that have the middle letters jumbled, but you can read without much or any difficult. I think you need to alter the way you tell the joke, because it makes you not get that, "That is EXACTLY like that thing, holy shit!" moment where it clicks. Here are the "speedbumps".

I'm nearly certain that calling someone a special snowflake means that they, at least in part, have a personality or thing about them that they choose to do for the purpose of being different. It's like white girls who make jokes about white girls for drinking pumpkin spice latte, as if they were somehow outside of all if it.

The joke about Jesus becoming white would suggest that we enforce the cultural status quo, so that would make us not snowflakes. You could make the argument that Jesus was a snowflake, and it's pretty much the only reason they killed him. The soldiers really made a game out of sarcastically acting like he was super important, making him a crown and shit. It's not like they were Jewish people who thought he was blasphemous, he walked around in sandals and a beard, to men who have been fighting in battle, to Pharisees who spent a lifetime studying, and was like, "Hey, guys! It's me, the 33 year old living at home with my mom! Let me tell you about how you both don't know shit compared to be". It's like how Hilary talked about Sanders in that recording, where she was like, "this pie in the sky horse shit he's telling kids needs fucking go"

And I don't know that white people really made a decision to make Jesus white. Artists just did what we'd do if someone asked us to draw Jesus, which is make him exactly how I've seen him depicted all the time, because it's how people will know it's Jesus

What color are Jews again???? O that's right - they're white.

This is the biggest wtf joke ever. Dude has some serious SJW issues.

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] 22

Sup guys. Come on over to twitter and find out why I've been unfriended by my uncles and my friends who downloaded their worldview from 4chan: https://twitter.com/timrosscomedy/status/805298342439882752.

I also love taking baths. Do you guys like taking baths? They're really great. Sometimes I add a squirt of my body wash into the bathwater cuz it makes it all bubbly but it doesn't smell like lilacs and baby feet of whatever. I like to put bubbles in my beard and pretend I'm a bubble Viking. It's sick af. Try it sometime. You don't even need an actual beard to start with. Merry Christmas.

Do you even have jokes on your twitter besides that one and the "milk first people are ISIS" one? I don't really want to look at you calling racist and sexist people racist and sexist and then generalizing others.

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] -1

Nah I've rarely tweeted any jokes for the past six or seven months cuz I was like "oh shit is America gonna vote to fuck itself?"

And then it did. I'll get back to jokes eventually

Because we should hold comics to the highest standards of consistency and social responsibility.......?

No, but what's the point of his twitter? If I like him as a comic I will want more of his jokes, but his twitter is less jokes and more political commentary.

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] -3

That's fair honestly. I mostly post it to connect with people. My Twitter is more "here's me as a human being follow and we can interact as human beings" and less "here's my promotional materials and jokes."

Which isn't the wisest move in terms of advancing a career but I'm not great career at stuff and I'm pretty good at getting drunk and yelling about Donald Trump.

Uh .... why are people downvoting this guy for being honest? It's fuckin' weird.

Regardless, you probably need a personal and an official Twitter account. Playing the social media game sucks, but I see no way around it for an entertainer.

Jesus christ I thought this joke was pretty generic and predictable but that twitter is absolutely atrocious. It's like they're not even jokes but just shitty SRS observations that have already been repeated endlessly.

The letters pages of the Miles Morales books were half inspiring and happy and half angry racists.

I thought he was talking about Miles Morales, the African American Spider-Man in the ultimate comics.

[–]Flemz 5

He is of Puerto Rican descent.

He's half and half.

I'm really liking what they're doing with him and Kamala (modern American Muslim teenager).

And in his first issue of the current series, it's outed that he's black/Hispanic colored, and everyone's all excited and trying to guess his exact ethnicity, and he's just like "why does it matter? I don't want to be black Spider-Man. I'm Spider-Man. Yeah, there are two of us now, but that doesn't make him Spider-Man and me black Spider-Man."

They haven't truly focused on that much yet, but I like the outlook he has on it.

Dang, my bad.

[–]Flemz 0

He's half black and half hispanic, so you were right. I was just making a videogamedunkey reference :)

The TSA doesn't stop Muslims for fear of lawsuits. Anybody should have problems with changing the race of icons. Could you imagine the uproar if a MLK film released and MLK was played by a white person? And Jesus is not white! Almost all depictions of him are of a brown man. This guy wins the award for most strawmen in a comment ever.

Comedy needs a refresh button. Everything is white man this and white that. You can't do anything with a different colored person or it's immediately racist.

Hey I notice that literally all you do is post in this sub what's up with that. Do you have different accounts for other subs and you switch between them or do you just dedicate your life on Reddit to only putting down comedians?

[–]VicramDanforth#NotATroll #GOLDDaddy 2

I also post in the GOLD Lounge, which I can do because I've got G-G-G-GOLD!!! You'd see my posts there if you also had GOLD.

It isn't really either...its cookie cutter pandering.

Yeah a comedian is pandering because he needs the votes. Also he is spot on. Do you ever see how mad America gets when you make a super hero black or mention that Jesus is from the Middle East and would not have been white.

[–]TimIsWinPittsburgh - Race To The Coffin Comedy.[S,🍰] -5

"Yeah I need the votes" is now going to be my response to any accusations I get of pandering when I'm alienating half the country.
