Yeah, unfortunately doing that is asking them to commit hours of work fighting trolls at the moment. Maybe in a few days, although I can't see Reddit getting any better in the long run as a result of this, so waves of trolls might just be a permanent feature.

We don't even need to win any extra Senate seats if we can at least hold the ones we already have in ND and MT. Turning it to 50-50 or 51-49 might incite the GOP to try and wrangle somebody like Joe Manchin into switching parties. A 48-52 in their favour means they have to concentrate much of their time on whipping their moderates.

Trump only won WI by about 30,000 votes. Know who happened to get slightly more than 30,000 votes? Jill Stein.

I think Jill Stein is abhorrent and should be ashamed of herself, but we lost a lot of states. This isn't a 2000-style hanging chad situation. Xenophobia and bigotry won a clear victory, and we have no one to blame but the people who voted for it.

Rest assured, you're not alone. I doubt any Hillary supporter slept well last night if they slept at all. I'm running on about two hours of it and it's not good.

Buckle up. The election is over. The battle is lost. The war is not. These things matter too much to indulge despair at our loss.

Elections have consequences. Unfortunately, this one reinforced a lot of bad behavior from Republicans and has put us on our backs.

The outsider argument can work in our favor in 2018 and 2020, and while I hope Trump and the Republicans are able to come up with workable solutions to America's problems... that is unlikely and so every grievance people had this year they'll still have in 2020 but it'll be amplified that much more.

For today...it's just one foot in front of the other.

Traffic in my area was a small fraction of its usual volume this morning; I was kinda freaked, actually. I was driving the speed limit, which usually makes me the slowest car around, but this morning...I was the fastest. I think a lot of people stayed home, & those who did have to drive were...not their usual selves.

Longer than that. This election was huge specifically because of the long-lasting effects the next administration's policies and decisions could have on the process. We're talking a 3-6 conservative Supreme Court for the next 20 years? Rolling back reproductive rights, rolling back gay rights, defending money in politics.

That's what American voted for.

Thank you. It's a big loss. A hurting loss. But I take pride that we were one of the only groups out here discussing what a special person Hillary is. A leader to be proud of, not tear down. The negativity proved too destructive this time, the misinformation too much to penetrate, the attacks too furious to fend off. But we stood up for what's right, right here. And it's not Hillary who let America down, it's America that in the end let her down. She's a better leader than we deserve. Love Trump's hate, sometimes. And sometimes it doesn't. But we made our voices and votes heard. We delivered, trudged up that hill, and got knocked down. But we never lost faith in the rightness of our cause, the American cause. Now, let's hope we can keep surviving. It has been an honor to talk with all of you everyday.

I want to get serious about building a political movement on the left. We won the popular vote even with record-breaking conservative turnout across the board--we have a lot of political power despite this surprise loss. It won't be based around Hillary, but I hope we can all bring her views and platform with us as we go.

Just as we accepted the Bernie supporters after his loss, we can't let Hillary's view of America be snuffed out by this loss. We'll all need to stand together to fight what's coming next.

One silver lining is that now, there is no question at all who will be in charge, who will be holding the reins, who will be guiding the ship of state. Even if it sails off and bashes into the rocks, there will be no one to blame but the GOP.

I honestly think we need to become more organized in response to this loss. We need a vision for the future of this country that brings together the whole left, and start making our appeal to voters that we can only survive a Trump presidency if we all fight together to protect our civil rights.

America has survived horrible, dictatorial, corrupt presidents in the past--Jackson, Harding, Nixon--and it has not been without cost. But without a vision that can bring the whole left together, not just those who identify as Democrats, we'll be stuck in this mess for much longer.

We also can't emulate the Tea Party's strategy and become obstructionist. Some of Trump's proposals will be semi-acceptable (infrastructure spending, for example) since a stopped clock is right twice a day. Others will be downright stupid, but within the realm of normal political thought. If we want people to believe us when Trump does something truly unacceptable we have to make sure to temper our own anger and frustration at his stupidity.

This outcome has broken my heart. I couldn't watch hillarys speech without balling my eyes out. But as I said yesterday this is similar to when Voldemort and the death eaters took over the ministry of magic, Everything went dark and hopeless. But there is life at the end of the tunnel and WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS. As a gay man I'm afraid of what will happen. I'm also ashamed to live in a state that voted for him (Utah). Really wish I could return to my home state of California but for the next few years I can't. I do wonder whether we might now have a shot at winning the house in 2018

Remember this. Only 18 percent of Americans voted for Trump. 18 percent voted for Hillay and only 36 percent total. Disincluded minors and felons, only 50 percent of Americans voted.

Hillary did also won the popular vote, so keep the faith.

Let me just say thanks for allowing me to be part of this community the last year and a half. However, let me just share the incredible disappointment that I have with this sub the last 24 hours. There was some pretty startling posts on the Election Results thread last night where people were quick to accept defeat, welcome trump and told me to get a life and get over it that made me incredibly sad and defeated. I wasn't sure if they were from trolls or actual hillary clinton supporters( lets hope the former?) I haven't been able to post my grief, emotional thoughts or feelings because I'm not "an approved" member. Last night was one of the hardest nights I've had to go through in my life besides family tragedies and automatically this subreddit went radio silent and restricted. I shared a few angry words about it last night and left to vent on other social media platforms rather unsuccessfully I might add because I became more frustrated and was unable to sleep. I do feel like this sub has abandoned Hillary and its supporters by becoming incredibly restricted the last several hours. I'm not sure who created this subreddit or who controls this subreddit frankly but I understand the difficulty to moderate the trolls and Trump supporters but surely that doesn't mean alienate the Hillary base on here. I hope that this subreddit continues to stay around a while longer so at least we can have a full discussion about what happened and hopefully be allowed to vent our frustrations and grief, perhaps some closure on all of this. All Hillary supporters make up an incredibly diverse set and some are more willing to accept defeat quickly and easier than others like myself who didn't get any sleep and couldn't even attend class at my University today because of the grief. But please don't make fun of me and others who are completely heartbroken and probably will remain heartbroken for some time.
