Posted in the Facebook thread, but posting here as well:

The Seattle Police Department has received a number of inquiries about an incident Tuesday afternoon in the Wallingford neighborhood. The social media posting (found below) alleges an adult male used a racial slur and assaulted a 15-year-old during an altercation.

During the police response Tuesday, officers spoke to multiple witnesses at the scene, but were unable to locate anyone who could corroborate an assault on the 15-year-old or the use of racial slurs during the incident.

Witnesses did state that the 15-year-old suspect had damaged a motorist’s mirror.

A group of juveniles, who reportedly with the 15-year-old at the time of the incident, left the scene without speaking to officers. The 15-year-old was arrested for property damage and released to his mother. Police are familiar with the teen and have been in contact with his family to address several recent incidents, including a threats case on November 22nd, at a library in the Wallingford neighborhood.

SPD asks that anyone with additional information about this incident to contact police.

That's impressively different than the parents account of events or err sons account.

What happens when someone knowingly fakes a hate crime? Is it just dropped, or are there charges filed?

Can we get a run down of the criminal history of the driver as well?

[–]Seattle_PDSeattle Police Department 2

Typically wouldn't provide that kind of info about the victim of a crime, but none that we're aware of.

This seems like the type of thing everyone should avoid jumping to conclusions on. If the accusations are true, this guy deserves to lose his job, but we don't know that yet.

Pro-tip kids, even if someone a hole calls you names and wants to fight, you still can't hit them first.

Sorry but I think your pro-tip is for the adult that nothing happened to.

Well the oldest of his friends decided to go up to the van(which he now knows was a bad idea). The man punched the boy in his face. They boy responded back by punching through the drivers side window and hurting his finger. They guy then asks the boy, “what are you gonna do about breaking my window?”

If this event happened the way this third party who wasn't present said it did, wouldn't the police be pressing charges against the adult and not the child?

"He said she said" situations between adults and children statistically don't go that way, let alone ones dealing with any sort of racial tension.

*downvotes? im not even disagreeing with anyone or talking about this specific event, just pointing out a pretty common occurrence in disagreements between kids and adults 🙄 this sub is turning into the one it defected from.

Especially when there are no witnesses to corroborate the kids story and he has a history of assaults.

That had NOTHING to do with trump.

Somehow I think someone is not telling the full and complete truth.

According to the story the police agree.

Also what did the story have to do with President Elect Donald J Trump?

Trump was not mentioned aside form the editorialized title.

Trump and his people created the climate we all now have. You cannot run on and get elected on a platform of deliberate hate then act like you did nothing to cause it.

If hate crimes are so prevalent, can we stop making fake ones?

Eh, no. And I'm as liberal as they get.

Every hate crime committed now has something to do with Trump because the media said he's mean.

Got it. Thanks. That's totally rational.

If there are no witnesses to the alleged racial slur and assault by the driver could SPD look to see if any security footage from the Walgreens on the corner or the new apt building next door? Hard to believe there's not a camera that could have picked it up.

I'm confused. How did the guy punch the boy through his window?

[–]Ouiju [

Sounds fake. After the media lied to your face for months this past election cycle I'm surprised anyone believes anything the media says anymore.
