Twitch took action on viewbots some day earlier this year, I don't remember when. Anyway it happened all at once and ton of channels that used to sit at 1000-1200 viewers 24/7 like Athene, Streamerhouse and the like suddenly dropped to 200-500 viewers at a time. Someone might come along and link the people. It was a bunch of channels. I didn't watch them all so I just don't remember. A bunch of the camwhore type girls got dinged too. Was pretty funny.

I mean... Athene has been several characters for years, hasn't he? First I remember "Schwff round' the corner" with his paladin in WoW. I tuned out for a long time but he transitioned into being the 'real' Athene(the person behind the character) who was obviously another character. He did a bunch of poker stuff(Was that legit? He was still playing a character but it seemed like he was legitimately successful.) Then he moved to 'for da kids' Athene and was trying really hard to succeed on Twitch. There was some shady shit with that too IIRC. Now is he the 'real real Athene' character?

If you use the reputation and money you have gained from it to torture people or fund a terror organization you are a bad person.

But imagine someone spending their life building a charity organization so that they can get a million dollar sallary and when they retire they have a luxurious life with all the things a person could want. I think good deeds, and the person can be separated. If you are only doing something in order to further your own brand, you and your brand are still open to be criticized. While his charity is great, it does not excuse him being a piece of shit.
