TL;DR: Heard one young girl teaching the other that she could get in a de-facto relationship and break up to take half of the guy's stuff (because her sister had done it too!)
So let me set the scene real quick. It was 8pm and I was looking for coffee (yes I like late coffee). The only place that is open is [famous fast-food place] so I go there get a coffee and sit in a corner start drinking my coffee, put the headphones on, pull out my mobile for some reddit surfing and co-incidentally I was also browsing /r/MGTOW.
Two girls are talking behind me. They could not have been older than 16 years old (saw them when leaving the place).
For the record they were more than loud enough for me to easily hear it without even trying. But I also had headphones on with nothing playing at that point so perhaps that made them even less caring of their volume, although there were other people around too.
Girl 1 said something along the lines of (didn't hear full sentences): "Eh ... I don't know about this whole marriage thing ... (inaudible) ... with ONE person ... ENTIRE life ..."
Girl 2: You know if you stay together for more than 6 months ... the government treats that like a marriage ... de-facto relationship ... you could break up and take half of his stuff! (her voice and tone was just so terrifying ... cheerful and determined and evil all at the same time)
Girl 1: (in a terrifyingly excited voice) REALLY? AAHH (I could almost hear that she had already started her grand plan at this point)
Girl 2: YAH! My sister did that ... she broke up with her boyfriend ...
At this point I'm thinking holy shit while staring at the screen of my phone. I was either reading the comments or looking at the thread titles. I saw the word AWALT standing out on the screen. I finished my coffee and left.
Walking back home I couldn't help but to think about what I had just heard. I noticed the stark contrast between my mindset when I was 16. How much I believed in respect and royalty in a relationship. How I believed my future wife would be my loyal other half who wouldlove me unconditionally. A kind loving woman who would be the mother of my children and bring peace and calm to my home. And all those fairy tales that you are fed from the start.
And here I am hearing two "innocent" young girls having a serious conversation and teaching each other on how to ruin a man's life.
Just wanted to share that. Thanks for reading.
