R2: Yes, there is some overlap between authoritarian socialism/communism and fascism in terms of tactics, and yes at times they were allied with each other (see the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact for an example). However, casually referring to, say, the Castro regime as "fascist" as if it is synonymous with "authoritarian dictatorship" without expounding the similarities and differences is a form of horseshoe theory that glosses over the very different ideological background, ideals, and economics of the two ideologies. As a rule of thumb, I don't call anyone fascist unless they've knowingly embraced fascists or fascism (Hitler = yes, Stalin = maybe because Molotov-Ribbentrop, Trump = maybe, but maybe not, Castro = probably not).
