EDIT: It has come to my attention that this post has become popular on Twitter: https://twitter.com/steveyeun/status/756877934313345024

For anyone joining us from Twitter: this post is just one in a series of posts, all listed here:

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is racist".

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is Sexist".

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is a Criminal".

A final response to the "tell me why Donald Trump is a homophobe"

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is Crazy".

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is a fascist".

A final response to the "Tell me why Trump is a terrible businessman"

And here is the Final Response Megathread with all the above and more conveniently linked in one place!

To be perfectly honest with you guys, I wish posts like this got upvoted to /r/all instead of posts like this.

While I like both posts, and both serve different, yet important, functions, I wish the face of ETS for Reddit was this type of thing before the on point, funny shitposts that take The_Dumbshits down a notch.

Edit: In fact, this thread is now stickied and added to the sidebar. Just look under "Further Reading," it's under the great Debunking the Hillary Clinton KKK meme post.

It isn't, but overt hatred of all Muslims usually does contain a component of anti-Arab racism. When your typical redneck bigot thinks of a Muslim, he's not thinking of, for example, an Indonesian or a black American, he's thinking of someone of middle eastern descent. Many people who hate all Muslims generally assume that Arab = Muslim and Muslim = Arab.

Can we get rid of the "his father was arrested at a KKK rally" section?

Here's the Snopes article on it. I mean, it's still entirely possible that his dad was in the KKK but I think having unreliable information on here hurts the overall message.

To replace it, I'd recommend adding the "They don't look Indian" testimony he gave to Congress in 1993. We're not short on material here. No reason to include easily dismissed info.

    [–]TexasDD 36ポイント37ポイント  (2子コメント)

I'll add to the Indian Casino part. NBC Nightly News did a piece on it on Sunday, with more video from his testimony. He claimed that the Indian casinos are "rampant, RAMPANT" with organized crime connections. In the same Congressional Committee, the FBI and Justice Department testified that this was false. And when he was leaving, a reporter asked Trump, "what does an Indian look like?" Trumps response was "you know, you know".

    http://nbcnews.to/29dbxoX

Edit: Would Trump constantly referring to Elizabeth Warren as "Pocahontas" apply to this list?

Yeah well at least three of those have been 'debunked' with some shitty mental gymnastics in this random thread by a deluded trump supporter, so I will just put my fingers in my ears and go 'lalalala' because he ISNT RACIST. BTFO.

    [–]Ipquarx 50ポイント51ポイント  (18子コメント)

While I know you're being sarcastic, removing the ones that HAVE been debunked would help the message.

    [–]Mejari 36ポイント37ポイント  (8子コメント)

The problem is determining which ones have been debunked and which have been "debunked". The Trumpers well come up with explanations for anything.

    [–]Ipquarx 24ポイント25ポイント  (7子コメント)

I'm talking blatantly false ones, though I'm too lazy to see if any of these are at the moment.

But what about the ones that are towards his supporters, instead of Trump himself? I mean, it's important to get it out there sure, but if we're just answering the question "Tell me why Trump is racist" then listing statistics about his supporters being racist doesn't really show anything.

    [–]Azerate2 9ポイント10ポイント  (5子コメント)

Well to be fair if the intention is to show he is racist, wouldn't there be a correlation between how many of his supporters are racists if he is also a racist? Wouldn't it be more likely he'd have less racist supporters if he also wasn't racist?

    [–]nmwood98 9ポイント10ポイント  (4子コメント)

Not Necessarily. I am not proving trump isn't racist I think he is , but his supporters being racist doesn't make him racist.

This is a form of the Guilt by Association Fallacy. Basically the argument is Trump's followers are racist. Therefore Trump is Racist.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy

Premise A is a B Premise A is also a C Conclusion Therefore, all Bs are Cs

A being Trump Supporters. B being Trump and C being Racist.

    [–]Reinhart3 16ポイント17ポイント  (7子コメント)

I'd like this post more if they didn't just throw in every single thing they could find that might make Trump seem a teeny bit racist if you did some serious mental gymnastics.

"One of his campaign posters had some soldiers on it and if you look closely at the patch on their arm they were actually German soldiers! Trump purposefully made this poster and put Nazi's on it because he wants to bring back concentration camps and put muslims and blacks in them!"

    [–]fartradio 27ポイント28ポイント  (3子コメント)

At what point do these stop becoming coincidences, though? Are we really obligated to extend any shred of the benefit of the doubt at this point?

    [–]Reinhart3 11ポイント12ポイント  (2子コメント)

To that specific one, yes. I think that it's honestly really fucking dumb to think that Trump purposefully put Nazi soldiers in his campaign posters because he loves Hitler.

    [–]Yosarian2 21ポイント22ポイント  (0子コメント)

He just keeps doing things that seem to reference fascism though. Over and over again. If he's not quoting Mussolini he's praising dictators for their ruthlessness (Putun, Saddam Hussein, King Jung Un, ect.)

There comes a point where coincidence seems increasingly unlikely. If it's not a coincidence, then either it's intentional, or else it tells you something very worrying about his psychology.

    [–]Olferen 13ポイント14ポイント  (0子コメント)

I would side with you, but who ever is making Trump's material is clearly a white supremacist or getting material from white supremacists.

The tweet last week with the star of david and a pile of money was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen an american do, all that work to stop fascism and nationalism and it's back. All the racism on pol/internet doesn't have a face and is indistinguishable from trolling, but now it's got a face with millions of supporters.

    [–]lukeyq.... Bad Harambe 17ポイント18ポイント  (2子コメント)

Either his campaign is filled with fuckin idiots or there is a small chance that the German soldier thing is a dog whistle to his neo nazi supporters. Just like the Star of David. Incompetent or evil, it doesn't matter. Still a shit candidate

    [–]xjayroox 28ポイント29ポイント  (2子コメント)

Yeah but that's only like 83 reasons. I'm gonna need at least 90 to believe he's racist

    [–]silentaddle 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

Would it help if I just repeated those reasons louder, then claimed it was an entirely new set of reasons and that you're just biased ignoring the truth.

    [–]sentinel808 53ポイント54ポイント  (8子コメント)

    [–]wompratT-16 33ポイント34ポイント  (6子コメント)

As if this mountain of evidence was gonna make them change their views. Those people were racists and fascists long before someone even thought to make that subreddit.

    [–]sentinel808 46ポイント47ポイント  (5子コメント)

Things are never this simple, a lot of people are "at risk" individuals (mainly young kids that are still formulating their opinions) that can turn to the wrong side and get stuck there. We don't see this happen as often because of checks and balances that society has installed. Reddit being overtaken for a few months by that subreddit broke one of those checks and allowed at risk people to be turned. Those are the ones I am concerned about. Not the ones that are Racist anyways.

    [–]Korhal_IV 34ポイント35ポイント  (4子コメント)

Bingo. The point of internet arguing isn't to convince the person you're arguing with, it's to convince the audience that's reading.

    From: http://eoinhiggins.com/here-come-the-brownshirts-lionsguard-militia-the-latest-indication-of-outright-fascism-in-trump-campaign/

The Obama administration ushered in a new rise in militias and in far right paramilitary groups as a whole. Most recently, Mormon anti-government extremists representing the Bundy family from Nevada squatted in an Oregon wildlife preserve for weeks

A Homeland Security document in 2009 was infamously buried after Congressional Republicans threw a nationwide temper tantrum over the contents. The report has, of course, been thoroughly vindicated as the far right has mobilized in reaction to the Obama presidency in unprecedented fashion.

Trump has slowly been warming to outright acceptance of this trend. A non-rejection rejection of David Duke’s endorsement a few weeks ago has quickly become forgotten now that the billionaire’s supporters give the Hitlergruß on camera and scream at protesters to go back to Africa or Auschwitz. Blatant racism was once anathema to a political campaign in America.

Now it’s one of Trump’s strengths and it’s been embraced in the new militia group’s online presence. The group, which goes by the name “LionsGuard”, represents itself on twitter with the handle @LionsGuardSS. The SS, one assumes, represents Schutzstaffel, the Nazi paramilitary organization responsible for some of the most horrifying repression and atrocities in the Second World War.

The militia’s stated purpose, to protect “innocents who are being beaten and harassed for their political views,” is only going to be used to assume a great latitude of political control over Trump rallies and to stifle dissent and protest through brutality and violence. The comparisons to the SS they’ve styled themselves after hardly need to be explained.

This nonsense is on par with Tom Clancy. Also the video mentioned is a 15 second twitter video. I've been on the internet long enough to not trust random ass 15 second videos with no context provided.

Second one doesn't really suggest Trump is racist but obviously demonstrates that nationalism and thugs looking for someone to pick on is a terrible combination. Anyways I think Trump stirring the Nationalism up (undisputed even among most Republicans though many don't see the issue in it) is much more of an issues than the half asses arguments of racism being brought up...

    [–]allofthebutts 20ポイント21ポイント  (1子コメント)

Am I the only one who feels like a list like this should only include things Trump is actually responsible for? Like, presumably the KKK always endorses the Republican candidate. It's hardly reasonable to blame someone for an endorsement he didn't solicit or trumpet. For the same reason I don't think his supporters' positions ought to be held against him. Just because racists like someone doesn't make him racist.

The allegations against Trump listed here are very numerous and very serious. There's no reason to throw in more things just to make the list longer. In fact, there's every reason not to. If there's even one questionable thing on the list it gives the impression that this is more a hatchet job than a serious attempt to understand Trump's positions.

I'd throw out the Hitler speeches thing, too. There are legitimate reasons to read Hitler's speeches that are not "I want to become Hitler," and unless Trump actually said something to that effect this isn't somewhere a serious case can be made.

There's more than enough here to convict Trump on his own words. No need to stretch and put words into his mouth.

    [–]thatguamguy 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

Two things; one, regarding the KKK endorsement, compare their enthusiastic support of Trump to their usual, as you say, de facto endorsement. Then compare the response of, say, Ronald Reagan to that endorsement with Trump's response.

Second, you seem to be looking at each thing as if it itself is meant to be proof of Trump's racism. This isn't proof, nothing here is definitive. This is evidence. No matter how much evidence is accrued, we will never know what is in Trump's mind. Therefore, any admiration of Hitler is reasonable as evidence. Some evidence is more circumstantial than other evidence. Some evidence doesn't even seem like evidence until presented in a specific context.

    [–]JitGoinHam 16ポイント17ポイント  (5子コメント)

Is his attack against Judge Curiel not on the list?

His full page ad calling for the death penalty for Latino and black kids needs a mention. Not sure best source, here's one discussion: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/10/23/nyregion/trump-draws-criticism-for-ad-he-ran-after-jogger-attack.html

Another, where he calls their wrongful inprisonment settlement a heist: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/central-park-dad-40m-settlement-article-1.1837710

Trump calls for the execution of the children.

(The Central Park Five were a group of minority boys aged 13 to 16 accused of attacking and raping a white woman back in 1989.)

After buying ad space in four New York Newspapers calling for the death penalty to be brought back for these black children. Trump was quoted saying about the boys:

“They should be forced to suffer! Criminals must be told that their CIVIL LIBERTIES END WHEN AN ATTACK ON OUR SAFETY BEGINS!“ ― Donald Trump

Years later after DNA evidence proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the boys were innocent and falsely convicted Trump refused to apology for his statements claiming they were still “somehow probably guilty”

    http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/17/central-park-five-donald-trump-jogger-rape-case-new-york http://www.newyorker.com/news/amy-davidson/donald-trump-and-the-central-park-five https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/325982969040879620?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

    Add it.

    [–]Galle_ 14ポイント15ポイント  (1子コメント)

It's a worthy effort, but just so we're all clear - this won't work. No amount of evidence will work. It is impossible to get someone to understand something when their entire identity depends on not understanding it.

Trumpets, for the most part, need rationality training and possibly some therapy. Trying to use logic and reason on them is a waste of time.

The problem with this list is that at least half of it is not valid. Trumps supporters, even Anne Franks relatives are not Trump. The quote mentioned is here-say and wouldnt hold up in court. I can make a bolded headline say anything I want and portray and twist the picture before putting the link, if you look at someone as being racist, through those prism glasses, you'll find racism in everyone, especially considering the definition for racism has in fact changed in the past several years. Its almost like the poster wants to so badly prove Trump is a racist, he is digging up mud just to make his point. This list would be much more potent if it contained only valid information, but it doesnt, its a giant wall of links that no person in their right mind would have the time to go through, research, and make up their own mind. Rather convenient when you have an agenda...

Oh, and I am in no way a Trump supporter, but I like Clinton less.

Trump holds event in Atlanta with GOP officials. Kicks the only black Republican official out of the event with no explanation.

No explanation as to why McNeely was denied access, but he was black, so Trump is a racist! Jesus, that's a fucking leap. But I'll bet McNeely was pissed about being kicked out because of his skin color...

“Last week, an event staffer and I had a discussion about room access. Security surrounding a Presidential candidate being what it is, he couldn’t relent from protocol and I left the building. There were no ill feelings. We’re looking forward to defeating Hillary Clinton and working together to elect Donald Trump as the next president of the United States. Efforts made by the media to question our unity is nonsense and has no basis in fact.”

Pff, McNeely is just another lying Republican. Of course it was racism. We know this because...I mean, he was black! Who cares what some Republican says. We all know they're just liars, right? Hell, he's probably racist too, seeing as how he's a Trump supporter!

Trump was fined 200,000$ in 1992 by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for not allowing blacks or women onto his casino floor while a racist Mafia leader was gambling.

Robert LiButti was at one of Trump's hotels and requested that black employees be kept away from his table. He made this request to casino management, not to Trump. Trump didn't make the decision. He wasn't involved in the slightest. LiButti was a racist high-roller, the casino staff made a poor decision in cooperating with his racist request, and the Trump Plaza was fined. Trying to say that this incident proves that Trump himself is racist is pathetic.

I don't spend a whole lot of time on Twitter, but the time I've spent, I can't say I've even accidentally come across anything remotely white supremacist. Don't you sort of have to go looking for things like that in order to retweet them? Or are people tagging the_Dingus in these Tweets and he just idiotically retweets them?

[–]alphabets00pI WANT MY SHERIFF BADGE FLAIR 11ポイント12ポイント  (0子コメント)

Look at the replies to all of his tweets. The top reply almost always comes from @NeilTurner_ or @keksec__org and in the past, @whitegenocideTM. Those are all accounts that promote #whitegenocide and Trump has retweeted them and their followers more than once. It's just incredible carelessness on his part. The man is a national embarrassment.

This will prob get downvoted. I don't think we should include anything that has to do with other people's actions on this list. ex, Anything to do with his supporters. Proving trump being racist should have to do with his own actions and his alone. His supporters being racist doesn't automatically make Trump racist. Which is what this is trying to prove. I feel including those items just hurts the argument more than it helps.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mAG-0PKpgE

Here's why I think it's a mistake to go after Trump as a racist--it's too easy an accusation to brush off. All Trump has to do is perform some high profile non-racist things and the attacks are going to roll right off of him. You will see him kiss more black babies than any presidential candidate in history. And everything listed is either A)Not really racist B)Second hand accounts that aren't well supported. You could easily come up with this same list of things Hillary Clinton has done.

Contrast this strategy with Trump's branding of Clinton as "crooked". How would Hillary be able to do high profile "uncrooked" things? It's another example of how Trump is very good at framing things to where only he can win. Tails he wins, heads you lose.

    [–]Galle_ 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

Except Trump is racist, so he won't be willing to do any high-profile non-racist things. He could issue a formal apology to all the various ethnic minorities he's wronged, but can you honestly picture him doing that?

And some Sanders supporters seriously think this fucko is a better bet than Hillary.

    [–]Korhal_IV 22ポイント23ポイント  (3子コメント)

Sanders supporters closed ranks around Clinton faster than Clinton's supporters closed ranks around Obama in 2008.

"In June 2008, 20 percent of Clinton backers said they'd go for John McCain. In July, it was 22 percent, then 18 percent in August and 19 percent in September. It finally dropped to 14 percent in October....

...Well, it's June 2016, and that same figure this time is down to 8 percent already. What's more, the 81 percent of Sanders backers who are now behind Clinton is a higher number than in any poll of 2008 Clinton backers who rallied to Obama. The high that year was 74 percent, in October."

Not to be a jerk, but it really chafes my ass to hear people whine about the dubious loyalty of Sanders' supporters when we are more loyal to the party than our elders are.

    [–][deleted] 10ポイント11ポイント  (1子コメント)

Note I said some Sanders supporters.

Don't get me wrong. Sanders isn't my cup of tea, but I've cheerled for him when the nomination was still in play (and for a while after that, because I wanted him to stick it to Hillary and annoying neoliberals), and I hate the way the narrative is always being set against him. I made this comment because some Sanders supporters are turning to Trump, and being a bit vocal about it.

    [–]Korhal_IV 11ポイント12ポイント  (0子コメント)

Note I said some Sanders supporters.

My usual crowd is Clintonistas, so when I hear the phrase "some Sanders supporters" it's usually in the same tone as "some cockroaches". Sorry.

I made this comment because I went to s4p and saw a post purporting Trump to be better than Hillary

TBH most folks have stopped going to s4p because the real to-do list is elsewhere now. You see a lot of junk upvoted by the few diehards and the_Dingus' shitposters. If trump is such an incarnation of racism, why wouldn't there be concrete evidence? The guy is super famous and has cameras 24/7.
If there were concrete evidences you wouldn't need to post so many different stories or things like his supporters being racist, you wouldn't need that to prove it. One concrete evidence would be enough.
I investigated until "Trump picks famed white supremacist leader as delegate." and the only way you could believe he's racist with undeniable doubt is if you believe in the words of O'Donnel. But the guy has a long story with the Donald, his word is less trustworthy than Trump's. And even if he didn't have a story with him it would still be the worth of Trump vs his. Which really can't prove anything.

    • Until recently, Jared Taylor, one of the country's most prominent white supremacists, had never supported a presidential candidate. "There's been no one worth endorsing," he said. "I mean, was John McCain ever going to do anything useful as far as the legitimate interests of whites are concerned?" But Mr. Taylor believes he has finally found someone who will: Donald Trump. This year, Mr. Taylor's voice could be heard on robocalls to voters across Iowa and New Hampshire, urging them to support Mr. Trump. "We don't need Muslims. We need smart, educated, white people..." Then came Sunday -- a banner day for Mr. Trump in the eyes of white-power advocates. In an early-morning social media post, Mr. Trump approvingly reposted on Twitter a quotation from Benito Mussolini ("It is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep"). Then, in an interview on CNN, he refused to condemn the Ku Klux Klan or David Duke, after Mr. Duke declared his support for Mr. Trump. Ok you have a lot of good one but Muslims isn't a race. He wants to ban Muslims because we have a radical Islamic terrorist issue and we can't properly vet them. What his father did in the past shouldn't define him. That's ridiculous and just because some of his supporters are racist doesn't mean he is the same. The whole Mexican comment wasn't even about all Mexicans crossing the border. If you don't twist his words you'll realize he isn't saying all, but some and yes it is a fact that rapists and criminals come over here. The Judge as well is a little ridiculous. With the whole judge thing he is just implying the judge hates because of the Mexican comments that he made, that he knew upset a lot of people. Don't get me wrong I don't think he is a good person, but some of the stuff up there isn't valid when it comes to Donald Trump's racism.

But I don't know if the Mexican judge thing should be passed around anymore. Believe me- I am not defending him or his campaign I just think it is being brought into the wrong context

He wasn't explicitly saying the judge was incapable or did not possess the skills to do his job because he was mexican but that since he was building a wall and creates an atmosphere in his supporters for extreme xenophobia and racism the judge could not be impartial.

You have to admit, there is logic to this.

Logic based on the fact that he is a fear mongering tiny handed race baiter, but still logic

I just think it should be removed because it is easily dismissed and just one weak argument can be dismissed publicly and instantly decreases the value of the rest of the arguments.

Wow. I just looked through the entire list.

Literally 99% of these citations and links are to MAINSTREAM MEDIA SHITRAGS that have been caught fabricating and spinning to pigpile on Trump.

I do see a few links from stuff Trump supposedly did many years ago, but once again the sources are horrible - The NYT? The Washington Post? You have to be kidding me.

As I said to a friend of mine, send me ONE racist action I can independently confirm (NOT one reported on by an entity who very likely has a dishonest ulterior motive), or ONE speech he has given that has racist content - but in FULL CONTEXT NOT A SOUNDBITE - and I am willing to view it objectively. You know what he gave me? links to more MEDIA STORIES. I said "no, again, NOT media REPORTS of what he said and what it means, but ACTUAL VIDEO OF WORDS IN FULL CONTEXT OUT OF HIS MOUTH". Why? because the media has been caught over and over again twisting and fabricating. They are part of the establishment cesspool that is TERRIFIED their gravy train will end under a Trump presidency. So did my find ever send anything as I asked? YES. One single thing. It wasnt racist. They couldnt find a single - SINGLE instance of that. It was a clip of one of the early primary debates where they asked Trump if the military would follow him and obey if he ordered waterboarding of a captive military prisoner. I admit, that he did say that, in full context. I cringed when I watched it. I disagreed with his position 100%. But I also believe that if and when the day comes when he IS commander in chief, he will have smart people advising him of the full range of Geneva convention rules HE needs to abide by, and I believe he would. I think he just wasnt fully aware at that debate. But in any event, this thread is about his "racism" charges, and my independent finding that every SINGLE ounce of his "RACISM" is media concoted spin. If you can prove me wrong, I dare you to post it HERE. If IM wrong and you can, I will review and admit it.
