Why are our u23s struggling? (self.reddevils)

I know Warren Joyce left, but this began before he left. I feel like we have a generation gap between the 1st team and our u18s. Anyone have any ideas?

Because the only talent that has a shot of making the first team in our u23s are all defenders. Tuanzebe, Poole and Williams. Though this might change with attackers such as Gribbin being introduced. But yeah we don't even have a striker for the u23s its a shambles.

Who do you rate the most out of those three? I don't watch too many U23 games unfortunately.

Complacency, sadly. Willock isn't too shaby, but its highly unlikely he'll get game time for the first team. You get the feeling Nicky Butt doesn't give two diarrheas about the U23s as when a player is 19, they should be approaching first team opportunities or loan spells.

    Rashford went straight to the first team, Wilson went on loan, Keane was sold, Fletcher was sold

    1. We sold/loaned out/moved to the first team a lot of youngster recently. The squad isn't as good as it was in recent years.

    2. No players in some key positions. Our whole squad is almost literally made of centre halves, centre mids and "10's". No strikers, no real wingers.

    3. Pretty young team. Most of the lads are 18-20. Mourinho doesn't want his first team players to play in the reserves, which happened in recent seasons, so there's also that.
