A group of Civilization V fans are playing a single game like an actual democracy. In a nutshell, instead of Twitch plays Pokémon, Reddit plays Civ. You can read an article on it from Kotaku.
Democraciv, which is now playing Civilization V as the English, has political parties which players can vote into power, and a constitution which divides the power into a legislative branch (which writes the laws), an executive branch (which plays the game based on those laws), and a judicial branch (which settles any disputes). Through elections and shifts in power, the game is played, often accompanied with a bit of roleplaying and horsing around.
The sub has over 2000 members which has translated to at least 500 voters, and it is growing rapidly. Over the past week, the subreddit has become in the top 1% of subreddits in terms of speed of growth. We also now have an associated Twitter page.
It is hard to pick one piece of content that encapsulates the multifaceted beast that is Democraciv, but if I had to pick any, it would be the map of our continent (our beautiful nation of England in its lovely shade of maroon). We hope that more people can join us as we guide England to victory!
