Summary:

The WikiLeaks twitter made several cryptic "pre-commitment" tweets several hours before announcing Julian Assange's internet was cut. Since then, we have received no definitive proof of life, just recycled pictures and videos, statements from people saying things like, "I've seen him, he's fine," then a call-in to an obscure South America open source conference where Julian didn't seem to always be responding to the person asking questions, and most recently a video interview with John Pilger that had no establishing shot of both of them in frame and is edited at numerous points. 5 signs Julian Assange is dead or missing (video). (alternate)

Goal:

/r/WhereIsAssange is asking for an unedited video proof of life, preferably with a newspaper showing the current date, and a signed PGP statement using the Wikileaks Editorial Board public key that has been published since 4/2015 (matching the PGP fingerprint listed on the WikiLeaks twitter bio).

How you can help:

Hit up @wikileaks on twitter and ask them what's up with Julian and why they haven't provided verifiable proof of life. Use #WhereIsAssange, #WhereIsJulian, and #ProofOfLife. Make sure to include @WhereIsAssange and we'll try to RT it. Call and email media and ask them to write about this. If you're an Ecuadorian citizen who is in the London area, please PM me. Subscribe to /r/WhereIsAssange and contribute in the threads (after reading the rules, of course). Join our discord channel.

I will include some links below to help you get up to speed. There have been a number of theories and falsehoods come up over the past month. It's best to remain skeptical and verify everything to the best of your abilities.

Additional peculiarities include:

  • No PGP key since internet was cut.
  • WikiLeaks Twitter behavior changed. More partisan, less "professional"
  • WikiLeaks said they would provide proof of life weeks ago and haven't yet. Users voted for this to be done by video. WikiLeaks has now requested that people stop asking for proof of life.
  • Totally botched their AMA where verification was never provided. They claim a broken Imgur link contained a verification selfie from a staff member. No one except the mod team has seen verification.
  • No sightings of Assange from Embassy windows.
  • Swedish lawyer didn't question Assange directly, it was done via Ecuadorian Embassy member. She did not physically see him.
  • RT interview seems to be edited. Video can be found here
  • RiseUp.net (WikiLeaks email services provider) has NOT renewed their quarterly Canary yet. This is big news.

People keep saying this implying that they recently lost their ability to sign documents with the key.

But when and what was the last thing they signed?

Not that it matters anyway. A doc signed by the A04C... key only means that whoever signed it has the private key and the passphrase. If wikileaks is truly compromised then you could assume they got the key too.

Sure, we can still doubt it even if the key is used, but the key not being used further supports the theory that they're compromised.

It is supposed to be updated quarterly. Back in August, someone reminded them on twitter, and they updated it right away. (August 16th)

Now they're ignoring tweets about it, and the last tweet they put out is a Leonard Cohen quote talking about a hummingbird and ending with the line "don't listen to me" :/

Back in August, someone reminded them on twitter, and they updated it right away. (August 16th)

This is actually a little incorrect, This is the tweet
The date was August 15th , the Canary report was published the next day not right away.

It is supposed to be updated quarterly
Riseup intends to update this report approximately once per quarter.

So from August 16th 2016 (the 3rd quarter) the fourth and final quarter of the year lasts from the beginning of October to the end of December. There is still time for the next report.

Leonard Cohen sadly passed away on November 7th 2016 , Riseups twitter account posted this four days later His lyrics to a song called Listen To The Hummingbird

If you go to this riseup page it shows clearly how they have chosen the bird family as their symbolic brand which explains why the quote from that very song.

Any company that has a warrant canary wants to avoid even the appearance of being compromised.

People have been tweeting at them about this all week and there hasn't been a response.

No company would allow that to happen, especially a company that prides itself on security.

Sorry if I was unclear. Back in August, Riseup responded to the tweet right away. Sure they fixed it the next day, but they were quick to let people know it was just an oversight.

This week, many have tweeted, but all have been ignored.

That's actually not quite right either, 91.3105497 days
Quarters wouldn't reset at the point of August 16 because of a Canary report.

JULY-AUGUST-SEPTEMBER then OCTOBER-NOVEMBER-DECEMBER
It's a calendar , yearly Quarter. It's not random.

Leonard Cohen did die on the 7th. It is a very meaningful quote though, implying that the important fact is the one you cannot see - the disappearance of their canary.

Also, on Oct 22nd Riseup deleted crucial certificate "fingerprints" on various subdomains/ services - the method you can use to verify it's actually them. There was no announcement about it, and it's the first time they've done something like this.

Nope, they didn't replace. They straight up deleted them. Whoever runs the Twitter isn't aware what we're referring to. Seriously - look at Github right now, the domains for "blacks" and "labs". They are 100% deleted, on Oct 22. They are no longer on the "how to verify it is us page". Yes the other subdomains remain, but those domains are gone.

Those are for active services which indeed have their own certificates in need of fingerprints.

They are deleted, it's not even difficult at all to verify this.

I love Milo, but his video on the subject stinks. It's just a bunch of loosely connected events without any rational to tie any of it together, and I think most of us would agree that the video includes a lot of far-reaching events (airport shutting down) that probably shouldn't be talked about in the same regard as the suspicious AMA (which wasn't mentioned), or some of the various other undeniably suspicious events surround Wikileaks lately.

Before I go on, I would like to say the summary is good. But we could use something even more substantial. It would be helpful if we had a constantly updated, comprehensive article on the subject. Maybe a sticky. Where all the most pertinent, legitimate info elaborating on our suspicions is contained. We want the most persuasive arguments for the cause heard first, and the least persuasive and more speculative arguments (e.g. talk of circumstantial plane departures) kept to the side (but not deleted or censored). I would do this myself but I work 50+ hours a week and I'm struggling to just keep on top of everything.

On The_Donald I've been hearing a lot of really silly things promoted to the top. For example: Julian is really just laying low and doesn't want to reveal himself for even a second at the risk of being assassinated. To me, that sounds like a far-reaching conspiracy. Yet that is actually being pushed over there by many users.

It's cute when the same people 'debunking' any concerns and claim him to be all fine and dandy, uses sniper threats as a reason he can't just go to the goddamn window in order to assure everyone that it's business as usual (and avoid tarnishing the organization he built from the ground up). Like a sniper kill - causing a landslide of attention/uproar and likely a political fuckery between USA, UK, Ecuador and Sweden - is somehow a more real threat than anything that's being speculated.

I've heard this repeated as "mods were added at ___ date". However, the mod "added" date changes if they move mods around. I haven't actually seen any proof that the mod list changed users.

If anyone has it, I'd love to see it.

We need to be targeting relevant public figures who can draw further attention to this. Milo posting a video earlier in the day is a great first step. Is there someone we should collectively focus our efforts on? It's one thing to have people haphazardly reach out to the media but if we target 2 or 3 individuals we would probably have more success in eliciting a response/getting coverage.

Daniel Ellsberg? He was the pentagon whistleblower and he also publicly spoke about/supported Wikileaks. Likely a good person to voice concern about JA's safety to, if someone can find a good way to contact him and bring up the concern. If anyone can be supportive, it's gotta be him. He's literally "been there, done that."

We post about all 80 or so of their alternate domains being down. The post gets on the front page. They then respond by blocking (403 forbidden) the alternate domains page we were all looking at .

EDIT - Back up but now blocked again. Either way - they pushed some changes to block the page (it's a 403 forbidden), a few times, while this post was first breaking. This is highly suspect and adds more suspicion that they are in control of WL.

Don't know where else to post it but probably worth mentioning the new Prime minister Teresa may is a vile women and probably see's Assange as a criminal .

The same woman forcing through surveillance bills, anti porn, and tried to alter the conclusion of a scientific study because it didn't fit her agenda.
