My kid didn't go to school today because of mild fever. Don't know what school's gonna think of us.
[–]cyberbuff 30 points31 points32 points  (1 child)
"Kid absent? Parent must have loads of black money!"
[–]UghWhyDude 7 points8 points9 points  (0 children)
"Time to ask for donations for school's new swimming pool with,uh, flexible payment options!"

The kid of the most patrioticTM randian is going to be branded an anti-national in school. You have to prove your patriotism in the next parent teacher meeting by starting every sentence with "mitroooo" and making sure that the school fees you paid has come legally.
[–]ribiyGaribi Hatao 5 points6 points7 points  (2 children)
"mitroooo"
That I can do. Glad you didn't ask me to address them as 'bhaiyon aur behnon'. There are quite a few milfs there.

The implosion of Congress is so beautiful to see. Hopefully they end up with 5-10 seats in the next elections, leading to a radical overhaul that brings a real left of center political party in the country.
[–]lolsabhaUttar Pradesh 7 points8 points9 points  (9 children)
Where will it come from? Genuine question, are there any mass leaders in the making that I don't know of? Their decimation is leaving a lot of assemblies with no opposition. It is slightly worrying.
[–]Paranoid__Android 4 points5 points6 points  (7 children)
Where did Trump come from? Where did Obama come from? Where did a lot of these people come from?
When the pendulum swings too much to the other side, natural balance will be restored. For all you know, there might be smart, non corrupt young people within Congress who are wilting under the Gandhi umbrella and who might blossom as soon as they are gone. Say Tharoor of 2000.
[–]lolsabhaUttar Pradesh 5 points6 points7 points  (0 children)
I do believe that there might be some within Congress. The constant and mindless vilification of Congress under the Gandhis is breaking the centre or left ideologies and the right people aren't shining through at all because they are carpet bombed by anti-Congress wave. BJP has grown too big for a break away Congress faction to take the national stage. There's not a single iota of informed discussion apart from rhetoric fed by the press and whatsapp forwards. It might take a major depression in the events for such leaders to form.
Obama and Trump have a clear track record in the US discourse, they didn't rise out of nothing. Bernie Sanders has been fighting the fight since a long time, only we came to know of him recently (at least I did). Apart from /u/kumbhakaran telling us about T. Sathpathy and Jayaprakash Narayan in the news on and off, I personally don't know who to look up to.
[–]Th3horus 8 points9 points10 points  (5 children)
Tharoor was someone I could get behind. The man isnt clueless like RG. He has presence, he has charisma and more than anything else, he is smart and has diplomatic and political experience. I hope he splits from the traditional congi base in Kerala, the state deserves better.
[–]Paranoid__Android 7 points8 points9 points  (4 children)
Other than the fact that he showed his colors in the IPL corruption scandal that went as deep as getting his wife whacked off.
[–]Th3horus 0 points1 point2 points  (2 children)
Yup. This is a black spot which worries me as well.
Edit: If your wondering why I still think he is good is simply because the investigations dint turn up anything and bcs for the most part he seems to be a level-headed guy on the policy front. Benefit of doubt (Also, lack of better options). What I am trying to say is ... I would rather see a Machiavellian character than a Nero character incharge.
[–]MonsultantIndia 3 points4 points5 points  (1 child)

Don't know about the investigations about his wife's death, but, the IPL sweat equity case is as close an Indian minister can get to being proven guilty.
Why would a person return 50 Cr Rs if they had earned it the right way?
[–]Th3horus -1 points0 points1 point  (0 children)
Like I said, I had decided to give him the benefit of doubt. He quit and he said "because of powerful cricketing powers" or something to that effect. I am just choosing to leave it at that. And honestly, I dont expect anyone in power to be incorruptible, including myself if I ever am.
Edit: Also, I understand a fair bit about intangible asset valuation. There seems to be some fuckery to begin with. He surrendered the sweat shares since the valuation wasnt right to begin with. Some fuckery going on but I am sure RG doesnt know what equity is so nope. This dude is wayyy better.

Kejriwal, obviously.
[–]routefire 3 points4 points5 points  (2 children)
Congress is against a "Bharat bandh" but nice try.
[–]Paranoid__Android 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
Haha, ok. Jan Aakrosh and not Bharat bandh. More like, "we will be humiliated so let us not try this shit" and I commend them for their understanding.
[–]Th3horus 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
I think they realized its going to fail anyways. Too much support. If people really wanted to protest, there would be riots on the streets already. Congis are mongies.
[–]apainfuldeath 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
Lol this is suicide.
[–]Keerikkadan91 -1 points0 points1 point  (2 children)
I can't want to hear how the bandh is the Congress Party's fault.
[–]Paranoid__Android 3 points4 points5 points  (1 child)
You need "feet on the street strength" (read: goons on the street) to be able to pull a bandh off. TMC and other leftists have aplenty and are going on with that. Congress decides to do an "Aakrosh Diwas" on the same day?
Nice hedge Congress. Not a single thing is slow in Mumbai, hoping for the same in rest of India. These hostage takers need to be destroyed.
[–]Keerikkadan91 -1 points0 points1 point  (0 children)
Haha, so basically feels? Nice.
[–]MonsultantIndia 4 points5 points6 points  (0 children)
Did this school ask for a "donation" in cash during your child's admission?
[–]ramanujam 11 points12 points13 points  (9 children)
So a school takes a stand against black money, and its ass lickery of government? When would the folks on Reddit learnt to differ between the govt and the nation!?
[–]Not_a_kulcha 9 points10 points11 points  (7 children)
Schools shouldn't take a stand on anything. Whenever someone takes a stand it's political. Individual teachers can have their own stance on issues. But the authority should mind its business on running schools and remaining neutral.
[–]ramanujam 11 points12 points13 points  (5 children)
Corruption is a social vice not a government propaganda.
[–]ponniyin_selvan[🍰] 3 points4 points5 points  (1 child)
And I am sure the said school is indulging in its own share of corruption.
[–]A_dhobi_reader 5 points6 points7 points  (0 children)
Oh you're sure? Could you please name the school?
[–]awesomeniket -1 points0 points1 point  (0 children)
That's one of the best replies I have seen. I agree completely.
[–]Not_a_kulcha -1 points0 points1 point  (1 child)
Well shit. I never got any message from any school against corruption and black money during anna hazare rallies or when the UPA scams were unearthed. What changed there minds after Nov 8? And if they are this much against black money, they sure are against other social evils. Can/will they be this active for other issues as well? Or will they wait for government's response and then parrot their stance?
[–]ramanujam 7 points8 points9 points  (0 children)
Do you remember a bharat bandh call by anyone? Schools in Noida and Delhi and Ghaziabad were def encouraging students and their parents to visit the Ram Lila maidan via notice boards
[–]DoubledoorTamil Nadu 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
It's a school though, they shouldn't be taking a stand on this. Why bring politics into education? If they're open today, they're open. Screw all that moral shit.
[–]govigov03 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
Nice! I wonder if they adapted an algorithm from their data to appropriately use the word "him" / "her" in the final sentence. :D
[–]Not_a_kulcha 8 points9 points10 points  (8 children)
I'm for/against regarding this bandh but this level of assholery from schools of all places, is very worrying to say the least. It's unabashedly pro-government. Kids go to schools to learn to question about things. If the school authority pushes an issue through a certain political lense, kids will eat that shit up without questioning because they don't know any better. This way they grow up to be biased adults .
[–]Th3horus 10 points11 points12 points  (0 children)
The argument is anti-black money and pro-education and not a pro-govt propaganda that is going to brainwash the kids. Moreover, this msg was sent to the parents. Kids will get to be kids and be inquisitive and question things just as much whether this msg was sent or not, except now there is a chance the kid won't miss a day's class.
Kerala is the worst when it comes to kids education being fucked up bcs of bandhs every other week. Let kids be kids and go to school regardless of whether the adults wants to protest or not.
Edit:
In Kerala, where the Left party CPM heads a coalition government, the bandh call is expected to have an impact. Banks, tourists and their vehicles have been exempted, but shops will remain closed and public transport is off the roads.
Thats from NDTV. Like I said, the only state to be fucked is Kerala. Gods own country being ruined by sickle wielding morons.
[–]randombloke 8 points9 points10 points  (5 children)
Since when is saying no to black money pro government.
[–]-Ice-Bear-Certified Modi Bhakt 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
This what you said is what exactly is happening. This is the narrative that'll develop in the months to come and this is why other parties will lose thisbattel
[–]Not_a_kulcha 3 points4 points5 points  (3 children)
Because timing is very convenient don't you think.
[–]A_dhobi_reader 4 points5 points6 points  (2 children)
If they had been doing it randomly, then I would have suspected bias, but if now is not the time to stand up to goons wanting to shut down schools for their political gain, then when is the time? Why should my kid's education suffer to please these political parties? They forced the school to pick sides, and now that they have, you see bias? Would you be lecturing the same thing to schools who close today? Directly or indirectly, they are supporting the bandh, aren't they?
[–]Not_a_kulcha -2 points-1 points0 points  (1 child)
"it's time to stand up to goons", you word it like there's some revolution coming for the school to participate. Also everytime some party asks for a bharat bandh , do these schools text us opposing the bandh and keeping it open? As far as i remember they just close down texting us "We will be closed on blah blah date and the school will commence day after tomorrow ".
[–]A_dhobi_reader 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
"it's time to stand up to goons", you word it like there's some revolution coming for the school to participate.
There's a reason the school has had to reassure the parents of their kid's safety in school.

Yep. Schools usually comply with the bandh, not wanting to mess with the politicians. I'm glad they're standing up against this bullshit. Protest all you want, but don't force me to protest by declaring a bandh.

Which school?
[–]amalagg 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
Wondering what will happen in west bengal. TMC is against the bandh and I don't think there has been a bandh since TMC came to power. They will ensure the CPM does not do a bandh. No way they can allow such a bandh to happen, it will show who really has power in West Bengal.
[–]nuc23Universe 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
I am sure teachers wouldnt be happy reading this.
[–]redindian92India 0 points1 point2 points  (1 child)
What If someone's daughter was at that school? Does the school not give 'her' a better future?
[–]apainfuldeath 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
This message would make me sure to keep kids home and maybe switch schools.

The assumption that by supporting demonetization one is doing a great service to the nation is paying lip service to propaganda. Schools should know better or better not take sides.
[–]hundredinchwand -3 points-2 points-1 points  (0 children)
I was all okay with it till it mentioned black money and went political.
To think these are the people teaching kids to think critically! Sigh.
