Ok so, at the very least is planet rotation a thing now? Because even though the game clearly doesn't have star systems that make sense in any way, you DID say it was a feature that was "switched off" so it should be pretty easy to switch back on (in the 99 days since release...) and there is a lot of demand for it.

As much as everything you point out is true, im still happy they bothered updating it at all. Having some more feature isnt going to make the game worse. I already bought it and im stuck with the game, might as well get some extra content from it, at this point. Aint going to say no to that, i cant lose anything from it.

At least you can do the old Spore spice empire thing now, assuming this update even runs well.

Only reason I played spore so much was caravaning from planet to planet setting up spice generators to fuel my galactic buy out. I can see how this update helps with my play style.

Not a crappy universe. This game is currently well worth the $35 price tag.

Still a little salty about the $60 I paid post release (PS4, no pre-order) and all the hype, but I'm willing to take a wait and see approach. Meanwhile I am enjoying the hell out of the new content this fine sunday morning.

I like this kinda game, sinking countless hours into Factorio and Stardew, this is a nice break to swing back to the PS4

    Both games had less content than NMS in pre release.

    Elite dangerous released with bare bones trading between stations and star citizen released with hanger mode (walk around an look at ships)

    I can't speak for Elite as I haven't played it but you can follow Star Citizen through all its development stages. The devs actually tell people what is being added/removed and don't stay silent. You can even play for free some weekends(which I have and loved it).

    Except E:D hyped itself up as being some action paced space sim full of endless possibilities yet it was completely barebones on release, they the devs had the nerve to release an early access expansion season pass with more gimmicky features instead of fixing the base game.

    Frontier ruined my love for early access and kickstarter games, hell, E:D and NMS has caused me to ignore any game that uses "procedual generation" as its main form of content generation (at least the Star Citizen devs have the right idea in how to use it properly).

    Devs were upfront about the release model since the beginning. It was on their Kickstarter. Despite this people still misunderstood and interpreted it as the devs lying.

    Look at how E:D is advertised compared to the actual game.

    Second, im pretty sure Wings and PowerPlay were meant to come out BEFORE release (I mean seriously, who adds a party system to an online game AFTER release?), and people didnt expect the game be so broken and bare at the time of Horizon's announcement. Thats like buying a car and its missing airbags, a stereo and the backseats but theyre trying to sell you a body kit and rally parts with the promise that the rest of the features that was missing will come in time.

    To me, it felt like Frontier did the ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM just to say they met their "goals" and hasnt bothered to fix them and are sticking to their DLC plan thinking no one hasnt noticed the issues of the game. Frontier are INCREDIBLY out of touch and have no clue what theyre doing, even one of the ex-devs laughed when people asked him about "Braben's clear design goals".

    Frontier either have no clue what theyre doing, or theyre genuinely a scummy company (probably both) and I actually wish I could refund E:D.

    If NMS was released as an 20-30 dollar Early Access game with a roadmap communicated to the players they would have not been in this position. Instead of working with the players and their trust they went with sony's money instead and this what it got them.

    It think it's okay to forgive, but not forget. That being said, this won't redeem them alone, but i think it's fair for people to lay down their hatred for a while and enjoy the update, as there are many people that like or want the game to improve because it holds potential.

    Don't ever per-order again from them, but good free updates aren't something to complain about.

    Yeah. I think this update looks great, and I give them credit for actually working hard on the game the past 3 months, but Im still going to hold off on buying it until Sean or someone gives some sort of explanation as to why the lied about things like multiplayer and missing gameplay mechanics. I just really dont want to set a precedent where its ok for companies to lie to consumers as long as they eventually make a good product.

    I just want an explanation. I dont even care if its just a short 3-5 paragraph blog post. I just want something. Anything to show that they aren't ignoring the issue, and that they are aware of their shitty behavior the past 3 months.

    I agree with all of this. Remember, there are many who are angry that they have now been proven wrong when they said there would be no future updates and that Sean and the team had run off with the money they made. There are others who, for whatever reason, want to see the game fail. Some of those people never wanted it to succeed from the get-go. This update is a very small step towards making amends, and I'm certain they know how long of a road it's going to be to getting there.

    No, you dont forgive them just because "its just a game bro". Hello Games LIED about the game they were selling and DECEIVED the fans into thinking theyre getting a game they were showing off. In the end they got something completely different and then when quiet, hell one of the devs ended up leaving.

    Now they release an update that adds more grind to the game and a few gimmicky features and now everyone is back to praising them again? Theyre setting themselves up to be burnt again.

    I think they just fucked up, to be honest. I don't buy the whole notion that they went in to sell a game that wasn't going to include a lot of things they said it would. I think they exaggerated some things and that they should've had an actual PR guy instead of Sean who was terrible in interviews and pressure. He was charismatic, but didn't know how to handle tough questions so he just cracked. My impression at least

    I think it's stupid for people to believe the people at Hello Games are just a bunch of con artists. It's fine to be angry about the money you spent for something you didn't get, but try to think about both sides here. They obviously didn't take our money and run. They've been working the past few months to get this patch out, so give them at least a little credit. Should they've completely gone silent after release? No, probably not a good idea, but they're a small team and I'm sure they realized they fucked up and thought that anymore communication from Sean could just make shit worse

    To be fair, there is a major difference for games. They can be patched and fixed and changed. Still leaving you only paying $60. If you go to wal mart and buy a $60 coffee maker, you can only repair it. Sure it might have all of the features you were promised, but thats all it ever will have. A game, even if it fell short at first, can still achieve that promise eventually, and then even surpass it and be more than promised. All without ever having to pay more.

    Case in point is Minecraft (It was all it was promised to be). But for that same $25 I spent 4 years ago, it's gained even more features and updates, and I haven't paid a cent.

    So it's ok to be mad when it doesn't meet expectations, but it could eventually get there, and you are allowed to forgive. Unlike a coffee maker, where if it doesnt meet them, you really are shit out of luck unless you return it.

    And people are really liking the update too. I'm astonished people still have the game. It was complete garbage and base building and updating the physical appearance doesn't give the game any purpose, doesn't allow for multiplayer encounters, or get anywhere close to the pre release trailer. They could get there, but they shouldn't have released the game at the price they did, until it was comparable to what they promised.

    I hope people enjoy it, but I'm done.

    My guess, it'll be a place to return to to store rare resources you don't have use for now while still having them available and having extra inventory space. They could possibly be used for much more as well.

    Some people want to be angry for the sake of being angry. This update is actually a nice step in the right direction and a lot of people think the same way. Angry people will always see it as a full on forgiveness which it is not.

    But it seems that some of you just won't be happy no matter what. This is a huge patch, and proof that HG hasn't just been sitting on their asses. Do I believe that this patch is "One of many" like the trailer says? ...Not exactly. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm not exactly taking it at face value, and I'm certainly not re-buying the game because of it just yet. Same as many of us here.
