Strange prices in manutd official store (self.reddevils)

Hello everyone, I want to share my experience purchasing Mkhitaryan 22 jersey from the official online mutd web shop.

So I first bought going directly to the website and the price was 72€ with BlackFriday discount: http://imgur.com/a/wFN8Z

Then I saw an ad while on speedest.net selling the same t-shirt for less from the official website, so I clicked on it and it redirected me to the exact SAME URL but with lower price, now being 56.35€: http://imgur.com/a/aXN9u

Can someone explain me how is this possible ? Both screenshots are made from the same website which is: http://store.manutd.com/stores/manutd/fr/products/kitselector/manchester-united-home-kit-2016-17/maillot-manchester-united-domicile-2016-17/180303

Such a scenario would theoretically be possible if the ad on speedtest came from an affiliate which had obtained a discount code and embedded it in their link.

However if you have already visited the main store then most likely you have a cookie which would invalidate the affiliates claim to have brought a new customer.

A scenario that could work is that the official store has tagged you as someone that has expressed an interest in a specific product not completed the purchase (I find it odd that you bought both times) and that you have now been tagged as a candidate for re-marketing/re-targeting (See Adroll for example).

Therefore when you visit a site which carries advertising from the [Adroll] network, it looks for products which you almost bought from [Adroll] clients and re-offers this product to you repeatedly for [x] days/weeks [with / without a discount].

I would have expected that the URL would have been different though when you arrived at the main site via the remarketing link however I cannot rule out that they manage the discounted price shown through the referencing the cookie/source-link.

Either way I hope your purchase of Mikhi 22 turns out to be an inspired choice and that his performances inspire millions more fans to follow your lead.

Thanks for the explanation! But it is still a mystery for me lol When I open a new icognito page with chrome and open link directly, the price is back to the old one. Meanwhile it is lower on my normal chrome session lol, and I am logged in with same user on both, this is hilarious :D

Also, I did complete the purchase the first time I visited. Then seeing it at a lower price and knowing the inital price without any discount is 90€, I could not resist to make that a gift for my brother too :) (but resulting in paying twice the shipping...)

Yes, his performance against Feyenoord was the reason of this purchase. I hope he will play more from now on and that his performance will convince more people to buy his jersey and support the club!
