We, who consider ourselves decent people, will permanently abandon Reddit on Tuesday, November 29 in protest of Reddit's continued failure to ban subreddit r/the_donald for their actions regarding "pizzagate." Lives have been ruined, and we can no longer be a part of a community in which this is allowed to occur; nor can we continue to be a part of a community that primarily serves as a platform for bigotry and hatred, which is exactly what r/the_donald has made Reddit.

If r/the donald has not been banned by Tuesday, November 29, we will abandon Reddit permanently, rendering the website in its entirety nothing more than a platform for the cowardly, despicable, and anonymous hate speech that Reddit has allowed to fester for far too long.

For those joining me in this protest, here are the actions to take this Tuesday, November 29 at 12pm EST, unless the subreddit r/the_donald is banned:

• Permanently delete your Reddit account by visiting here.
• Remove the Reddit app from your phone and all other devices.
• Clear your browsing history so that Reddit's web address disappears from all devices.
• Do not return to the site.

What is "pizzagate"? * "Pizzagate" is a conspiracy theory that a pizza parlor in Washington, DC named "Comet Ping Pong" is the center of an underground pedophilia and child-trafficking ring frequented and supported by Hillary Clinton and other members of the US Democratic Party and establishment.

• The conspiracy theory originated on November 4, 2016 on subreddit r/the_donald when Reddit user u/DumbScribblyUmptious submitted a now-deleted/banned post titled "Comet Ping Pong - Pizzagate Summary."

• Members of r/the_donald -- a large subreddit with over 300,000 members -- seized on the story. An online witch-hunt ensued, which quickly went viral.

• The owner of Comet Ping Pong, a man named James Alefantis, has received hundreds of death threats. His restaurant's social media outlets have been horrifically vandalized and destroyed. Neither he nor his business will ever escape the association to pedophilia and child trafficking generated by the large internet mob known as r/the_donald.

• The accusations are entirely false and baseless, as reported by several media outlets including the New York Times, the Washington Post, and others. This has been a witch-hunt led by thousands of people hiding cowardly behind a wall of internet anonymity, and it has ruined the lives of real people. It is fake news.

We no longer willing to stand idly by as the cowardly hate group known as r/the_donald spreads hatred and ruins the lives of real people. Reddit must ban r/the_donald and must be vigilant in banning any attempted resurrections of the group in any other subreddits or areas of the website. In failing to ban r/the_donald, Reddit is acknowledging a willingness on their part to serve as a platform for widespread anonymous libel, slander, and hate speech that has an affect on the lives of real people -- in some cases irrevocably destroying those lives.

Should Reddit fail to take these actions, we -- who consider ourselves decent people -- will be forced to abandon Reddit permanently, leaving it to the cowardly animals who spread hatred and destroy the lives of real people. Should that occur, Reddit will have been reduced to nothing more than a platform for libel, slander, bigotry, and hatred.

Do not be complacent. Do not bend to the will of hateful cowards. Find it within yourself to act courageously and fight for what you know is right, in this one small act and in others.
