About this project
The Problem
It's really hot outdoors in summer or in tropical areas. When travelling to countries with warm and humid weather, it has always been a hot and sweaty experience travelling by foot and we have always wanted an effective solution for this problem. On the market, there are some small and portable cooling fans but they are mostly weak or not portable enough to meet our needs.
Our Solution
So we design a new cooling tool based on a drone. You don’t have to use a controller to control the drone to fly. All you need to do is to pull the string of the drone and the drone will hover above your head to provide you with powerful cooling. It's just like dragging along a balloon that happens to cool you down at the same time.
How it works

Tonbo is small and easy to carry along with you. Tonbo's frame is designed to be folded flat and can be put into a bag easily.

Tonbo is equipped with 4 high power brushless motors that works hard to provide powerful cooling for you.

Tonbo can be customised to equip a camera which enable you to capture your journey in timelapse.

Project Timeline
Our team
Our team is a young, energetic, and creative team which consists of four members. Ying Hong, the CEO, is a senior at SUTD (Singapore university of technology and design) and an expert in UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle). The rest of the team, Lingang, Qing, and Sijie, come from Zhejiang University in China. They are all students major in industrial design and have a wide range of capabilities. Most importantly, the team shares the spirit of loving adventures and having fun. The team is now developing a new generation of portable fan ---- a portable flying fan which can help customers feel cool and look cool at the same time!
Risks and challenges
This current prototype still has a few problems and we are trying to solve them one by one. The technical gap between our ideal product and our prototype is something we are still working on. To be specific, we are trying to reduce the noise produced by the fan blades and find a better way for Tonbo to track and follow the user. Also, we are still experimenting with ways for user to control Tonbo without complicating the user experience. It is one important fact which prompts us to put forward this campaign, that to better customize our product to your needs and wants! So if you have any suggestions for the project please feel free to leave some comments for us!
We admit that this is a risky project, especially when we are a new start-up. Customers may have doubts toward the performance or the feasibility of our concept. But we can ensure you that we do all these out of our passion and we would love to have you as our backer as well as a friend.
