Couldn't really call these crappy design. I've worked several retail jobs and seen this kind of rack at all of them. Why? Because it's a good design, it just puts a bad thought in people's head when they look at it.

It's just a really basic shape I see in a lot of purposes. Floor tiles have swastikas, as do parking lots, lights, etc.

It's not really avoidable.

Also, the swastika was a symbol of peace before it was a symbol of hate

[–]MorphineBearI almost failed a graphic design class once. [

Isn't it also in the opposite direction?

Even their mascot is racist!

Atleast they are consistent.

What does it say?

It's a sign telling you stealing isn't worth it and what consequences come with it.

You'll get gassed for stealing.

I hear if you shop at their competitors, they give a gold star

It might just be crazy enough to work

You'll get gassed for buying as well. Those clothes are cheaply produced and full of whatever will cause rash and/or headache. Maybe more. There has been a documentary of it and one of the ladies working in the store got a permanent brain damage from unboxing those.

The only way to make it more racist is to paint the rack black, put it in a white circle on the floor and paint the rest of the floor red.

We recently got clothing stands like these banned there, it's so common we see them a couple times a week

Designer: at desk drawing swastikas on screen

Boss walks by: "Dude wtf you can't do that"

Designer: "No, boss, I'm just drawing up the next clothes rack."

Boss: "Ah, well, keep up the good work"

Designer: Well, shit, I guess I'm making a nazi clothes rack

Hitler is the reason we cant have nice things

Hitler is the reason that some efficient geometrical forms (like this one) look like something crappy in our eyes.

Aw Hitler, that rascal. Always ruining things for us.

Technically that's poor taste, not bad design.

    [–]SlimmJimm01100% cyan flair 182

    It's actually a great design

Exactly, a swastika is a great shape for a lot of design purposes. It's a shame that most people only think of the negative.

It's not like the nazis were the first and only ones to ever use the design. It's just stupid to associate every shape like it to them.

    Its not stupid its natural

No its not. And pretending natural is stupid youre so far above your own nature you cant even comprehend it annoying.

Well, yeah. Let me rephrase, it's natural to associate it but stupid to assume there is some malign intent behind it.

Probably nobody thinks theres some bad intent behind it. Its just kind of taboo to use even if its a useful shape, because, you know, the holocaust.

Same could be said about the name Adolf.

      [–]draw_it_nowjust de-highlight this and nobody gets hurt

You have to hide the inner stalks - they could have just put a circular piece of cardboard over it or something.

As I stated in a younger comment - as a German, you can't ignore this geometrical form. It's impossible. It's not like people start protesting over seeing it, but it's always confusing.

I don't see why, though. Seems like it would take the same amount of space (or less?) if they just made it a + shape. I don't see what the bent extensions are supposed to be doing.

      Edit: Incorrect

      [–]SinkTubeverified good lawyer 25

try hanging a bunch of clothes on a + and you'll see why they didnt

True, just realized the clothes toward the center would interfere with each other

A + shape would actually consume more space, I think.. Or at least be harder to fit places

An H shape would take less metal and hang the same ammount of clothing. They could have planned ahead a bit better

Literally metal bars that are bent a certain way to maximize efficiency.

I don't see the crappy design.

      [–]SinkTubeverified good lawyer 8

probably seems familiar because it's posted here almost daily. and again, it's not even remotely crappy

Wasnt that originally a buddhist symbol? For serious.

Also that is a functional clothing rack design, speaking as someone who has worked in clothing retail. It just has unfortunate connotations lol....

Yeah, I'm not saying its crappy as a functional piece. Was just sure it would polarize.

Also, as a German, seeing those racks ALWAYS trigger me.

It's a symbol in Hinduism, that they've been using and are still using.

Yeah, it's actually a really good shape for maximizing functional hanging area while minimizing floor space.

      Yep, it's settled.

      Women are literally Hitler.

      [–]Bohzee<**~~bOhZeE~~**> 3

      Klassiker.

It's the worst kind of swastika; one born out of efficiency and organization.

      [–]Masculine_Apricot 3ポイント4ポイント  (1子コメント)

It helps you concentrate on the clothes.

Was that a concentration camp pun? Because that's just not Reich.

That actually looks like a pretty functional design for looking through the racks of clothes. They often times have terrible set ups where you can barely move one past another row of hanger-ed clothes.

      It's in German, no less.

that is actually pretty good design

When I worked in a small indi store we called these swastika stands.

"Hey Joe, pls roll one or two swastika stands over here, we can't have enough of them to present this new collection".

Basically. His name was Adam though.

This is actually a common design. You'll see a milf variation in tons of stores because it's the most geometrically simple way to store a lot of clothes on a single pole.

ITT: That's actually a good design!

Actually, it's not. Sure, it's efficient, but have them radiate out in the opposite direction! A simple fix, no loss of efficiency, no more swastikas......
