There's a difference between one out of every twenty posts getting caught by accident and intentionally suppressing life-saving information.
[–]pomosexuality[M] -7 points-6 points-5 points  (0 children)
I can't. If you check the mod page, I think only those with "full permissions" have that capability.
[–]pomosexuality -77 points-76 points-75 points  (0 children)
The link shows explicitly that most of that information got through. Only one link was caught by automod, many of the links considered 'deleted' never even got removed in the first place.
[–]pomosexuality[M] -87 points-86 points-85 points  (0 children)
I tried to clear up some of the rumors about that here. Most of the blood donation links went through fine, some of them were mistakenly read as deleted by a third party app when they were not, a handful were accidentally caught in the filter but most users reposted the same comments and they turned out fine the second time around.
[–]pomosexuality -17 points-16 points-15 points  (0 children)
AutoModerator cannot detect a user spamming the same post over and over again in a thread. It only reacts to a single individual post. The only posts removed by AutoModerator were the ones I specifically said were removed by AutoModerator, the rest either were removed manually (possibly by accident because, as I said, often the user made the exact same post again without issue), or never were removed, not just removed and reapproved.
We would have no reason to suppress information about donating blood. I'd be happy to look at whatever deletions you may find (usernames or permalinks would be most useful), I know approving them now is just theatrics but at least if there really was a case where legitimate information was being removed without discretion I would like to know so that we can prevent that from happening in the future.

I tried to clear up some of the rumors around this issue here. TL;DR: the biggest issue is that uneddit was registering posts that never got removed as deleted, most of the posts actually deleted were reposted by their users once or multiple times and only got caught in the filter once.
[–]pomosexuality[M] -37 points-36 points-35 points  (0 children)
See my response here, we allowed the vast majority of the blood donation comments. Most of the ones picked up by uneddit were not actually deleted in the first place, and a handful of the ones deleted were posted by a user multiple times and only got caught in the filter once, likely due to spamming but otherwise by accident.
[–]pomosexuality[M] -27 points-26 points-25 points  (0 children)
AutoModerator caught your post for a while.
I can't look at the context of mutings or bannings through screenshots without usernames, I know it's most convenient to show others that way but for all I know some of these could have been posters using intentionally vitriolic content with the intention of getting banned so they could make a display of it.
We've stopped with the muting of users in modmail, except in cases where people serially spam the page. That was a mistake on our part and while we can unban, undelete, and otherwise undo things in the subreddit, we don't have an unmute button so it'll just have to wait until the 72 hours are up.
[–]pomosexuality[M] -21 points-20 points-19 points  (0 children)
I can't speak for the banning, but the post itself definitely did not deserve to stay up. The title was clickbait without FBI confirmation. The journalist's only lead was
Asked whether there was any reason to believe there was a connection to Islamic terrorism, FBI special agent Ron Harper said investigators would be looking into “all angles.”
As for the second link, I went through a handful of those links removed regarding blood donation here. Overall, very few of the actual links were removed even from that list to begin with.

Hey all. I looked through the posts linked by users using uneddit reddit, in this imgur album. I looked through the userpages to find the posts and found that, first of all, many of the posts were not actually deleted to begin with, but uneddit thought they were removed due to what I suspect is reddit's servers under heavy load not synchronizing posts being made across the board. Of the ones legitimately removed, most of them were single removals when the user made one or many duplicate posts all of which were approved. All the comments I think were in the album should be linked as well. I hope this clears up some of the rumors!
BooYeah0484's post headed by "KEEP POSTING" invokes other people to spam the page with the same information under the impression that we are removing the blood donation links, which is not the case. I'm not approving this post because it was made with the intention of riling up users (see the rest of their comments for reference), but it could be found here if another mod changes their mind.
sault9 posted blood donation information multiple times in /r/news, and only this link was removed. Like BooYeah0484, sault9 posted the same message over and over again, same header and everything, so some of the duplicates probably should have been removed and weren't, rather than the opposite case.
Audacia220's post was never even removed? It doesn't register as 'approved' in /r/news so it means it was never removed and then reinstated. It could be that they deleted their original comment and posted it again, but I can't confirm or deny that over just a screenshot.
arceus_disciple's comment was never removed either, the fact that both arceus and audacia haven't had their comments removed shows that uneddit was acting faulty likely due to lag from reddit's servers.
aegist1's post here was in fact removed improperly, I fixed this. They posted more detailed information later on and none of those were ever removed.
Pavlpants made two posts, one was removed and the next never deleted. I think the one in the screenshot is actually the one uneddit caught, which means uneddit broke again rather than an actual removal. I'll approve the first post so you can see it.
Frakk4d had dozens of the same post. For some reason, three were caught by AutoModerator. I'm not sure why they were singled out. 1, 2, 3
EDIT: Mirror of the original album, I don't know much about how imgur works but I assume if the original album can have its annotations edited the album could also be deleted.
[–]pomosexuality -2 points-1 points0 points  (0 children)
I cannot confirm it right now (because I lack the skill more than anything) but I suspect that things like blood donation addresses and contact information may have been removed by AutoModerator by detecting addresses and phone numbers as personal information. This was certainly not out of malice and could have easily fallen through the cracks without our noticing.

I can always rely on you posting some of the best stuff here :) heard it a bit ago and loved it a lot. Foster Carrots' side was something I haven't heard before and was absolutely rad. Alyssa is a wordweave among wordsmiths.

Is that the really blue version? ;P I should give it another go, I guess!

I might be an exception in the way I use mobile reddit (since I've noticed others visit the site over many a shoulder and nobody really uses it like I do) but a feature I would prefer to improve the experience instead of m.reddit would be to have links on mobile behave like they do in search, clicking on them takes me to the permalink and comments page before it takes me to the link itself.
I'm more comment focused than content focused, and I think the new designs are more efficient at delivering pictures and videos, etc. straight into my face, but that really isn't how I browse this site.

I love the idea of naut more than I actually like naut. It's an incredible feat of design work given the limitations of reddit's customization features but as a design alone I can't say I like the idea of it being made default.
I mean, a lot of it is just subjective, "there's nothing wrong with it but I just don't really like it" in the end, but I think the biggest issue is that it overcompensates. It overdesigns to make up for how restrictive and minimalist reddit's default design is (which is both terrible and great for its own reasons), so it only looks 'good' because it isn't reddit's design, it has character in spite of the site. Making it a default stylesheet takes away that context and just makes it flashy and gimmicky.

Two inquiries:
  1. How 'deleted' is the message? To my knowledge, posts that get deleted on reddit by their authors aren't actually erased, just made completely invisible. Will deleting from sent come at some point, and furthermore if both sender and receiver delete their message will it still exist somewhere on reddit's servers?
  2. How close does this bring us to properly deleting, pruning, or otherwise managing modmail? I know modmail is a whole other beast but I wonder if there will be any possible quickfix features that can be added thanks to changes in the user inbox?

Welcome!
Spez, are the new hires going to be heavy on user interaction? I'd love to see a brief introduction to the additional folks who we'll also be speaking with very often, if it isn't a bother. Looking forward to having all of you around :)
[–]pomosexuality 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
You're killing me with this hype, knowing I won't be there. If someone here is going, please take me with you in spirit.
[–]pomosexuality 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
I don't think I've read this one, I wouldn't know where to look...maybe someone elsewhere had it archived at a point?
I always thought the Facebook page was fan-made, I guess I never looked closely at the people posting in it to see that. Sucks to see that even that is gone now :\
Ribald Youth is also down these days and there aren't any buyers so if he tried to get his sites back up I wonder why that one would be giving him trouble.
[–]pomosexuality 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
Some responses by fans in this thread, but ultimately confusion, frustration, and desperation all around. We have no idea.
I'd love to know about that post you saw, honestly I'll take anything for an answer right now.
You can find minus., Great, and all his other work on archive.org for now.
[–]pomosexuality 6 points7 points8 points  (0 children)
My email had no response either. If you ever get something back from him, I'd love to know!
[–]pomosexuality 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
/u/MissPantalon and /u/Bappedekkel, I think! I wonder if there are people with logs, we could consult those directly.
[–]pomosexuality 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
. A little bummed out that I didn't get to really talk to the upper groups. I was looking forward to checking out Sabldiri and ccande's supposedly collapsed government.

. I'd be for it, if we can remember the people to invite!
