Christmas gift ideas (self.askMRP)

Thank you again guys for this forum. I have been lurking a while and had some gains and positive experience after your last suggestions. Still not where I want her though.

Any Christmas gift suggestions? Got jewelry and clothes in the past, but not gonna do that any more. Was thinking of something better than a bag of skittles though.

The thing people forget about Jewelry is that the idea is to give something that represents a thought, memory or idea.

Guys get caught up in the expense, and while you do not want to be cheap, if she has been a good wife, there is no reason not to get her a trinket to remind her of her good behavior.

I really really want to design a Skittles necklace.

I agree. The reason I hate getting expensive jewelry as a gift is because for that kind of money I'd rather pick it out myself. If I get a $30 pair of earrings that aren't exactly what I would choose, so what - I'll happily wear them and be grateful. They are part of the rotation and even if they're not my favorite, it's the thought that counts.

But if I get a $1000 ring that's nice, but there's something else that I'd be completely wowed by for the same price, what am I going to do? Be a totally ungrateful joykiller and say I want to exchange the ring? No, I'm going to wear it anyway and always be thinking, shit, for this much money I could have had X.

(Yes, I picked out my own engagement ring.)

The general consensus:

Experiences over objects. The experience should be something YOU want to do and enjoy, and you invite her along to have a good time. That $200 costume jewelry or trinket or whatever will be forgotten in a drawer, but that $200 meal for two or fancy AirBNB location in town will always be remembered, even if your RP journey leads to divorce. $200 too much? $20 each will probably get you tickets to see a local performance of The Nutcracker or something, pretend to have some culture, it is a display of high value.
