The election is over, take down your sign. It's tacky. That was a local ordinance in a town I used to live in, all signs removed by Thursday.

Hah, he didn't get the response he wanted, so know he's begging The_Donald to come brigade the thread.

I hope you get two rocks thrown through your window.

I will preface this by saying that I don't think you, or anyone else, deserves to have a rock thrown for their window. However...

Right now, there are people around the country being physically assaulted because of their skin color/ethnic background/perceived sexual orientation/etc. They can't change their skin color or country of origin, but now have targets painted on their backs since a certain segment of the population has been emboldened by the results of the election.

You seem to feel that you're being targeted for vocally supporting Donald Trump. But that was as a decision that you made. You weren't born with a Trump lawn sign planted in front of your house. You chose to support Trump knowing that he has been vilified as racist and sexist.

I am absolutely against violence, even against people whose repugnant views I disagree with. But your treatment has resulted from your own actions, unlike the victims of hate crimes.

Unless you're out there beating people for their skin color/religion/etc., I'm not blaming you for any hate crime.

What I'm saying is that your treatment (being called racist/sexist) is a direct result of your own decisions.

        Cheers!

Can you please logically, and educational explain to me how that justifies me being called a racist/sexist?

Actually explain it, if I agree with the mens foreign/economical policys, HOW does that justify me called a racist/sexist?

Others have already summed this up to you, by the looks of things.

You may not personally be racist or sexist, but you have shown an indifference to that type of behavior in others. If you can't understand how some find that offensive, then there's no point in continuing this discussion.

Because you've chosen to align yourself with racists and sexists. You decided that Trump's racism and misogyny was acceptable to you.

I am actually curious you mention you liked his foreign and economic policies. Which ones in particular stood out to you?

Several studies have shown that racial resentment by whites towards people of color was one of the main drivers, possibly the biggest driver, of Trump's support.

        http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/06/02/more-warmth-for-trump-among-gop-voters-concerned-by-immigrants-diversity/

        From this study:

An analysis of 'feeling thermometer' ratings of Trump finds that attitudes about immigration, Islam and racial diversity are strongly associated with Republican voters’ views of the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. Other political values — including opinions about whether the U.S. economic system is unfair and whether business profits are excessive — are less closely linked to feelings about Trump.

        http://www.vox.com/2016/6/2/11833548/donald-trump-support-race-religion-economy

        From this story:

Opinions about Obama are heavily influenced by levels of racial resentment. More than half of all Republicans believe he is a Muslim; and finally, only 29 percent of Republicans think he was born in the US.

It's not a small % of Trump supporters that are racist, it's most of them. Trump supporters, on the whole, have higher incomes than the US average. Their "economic anxiety" was largely born of the feeling that blacks, Latinos, and "others" were getting more than their fair share.

Excuse me - OP wanted a to have a conversation where he could win, not one that involved facts and statistics.

        Hi u/RDAmbition, u/BoredAccountant here.

I see a lot of people making assumptions about you based on your choice to support/vote for Trump. And based on your other post in r/The_Donald, it sounds like a lot of people have. Being a fellow Angeleno, public Trump supporters are few and far between, so I can't say I've had too many conversations with them about their reasons for supporting Trump. What are yours?

        [–]bug_ridden_prototype -2ポイント-1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Can I be honest? This sounds like "Let me argue with you," and regardless of whose politics are like what, if I'd been that guy I wouldn't have responded to you either.

The man who will be the Commander In Chief of the United States Military...just settled fraud lawsuits against him for $25million dollars.

With a nationwide homeless problem, millions of families living below the poverty line...the new PRESIDENT of the United States settles fraud lawsuits against him for $25million...

Hey dude. I live in LA and while I didn't vote for trump, you have to realize you can't come to a Los Angeles affiliated subreddit and expect people to be rational in regards to politics. It's better to just avoid

Sorry that you're getting that treatment. People making the association of Trump supporter = racists aren't helping anyone. Those people refuse to understand that people come from different situations and have different priorities. Some people are tired of the same old shit and just wanted change. AND THATS OK. That doesn't make you a bad person, racist, etc.

You're visibly supporting someone staffing his cabinet with white supremacists, having won the election after espousing racist positions, sexual assault and privileged immunity.

Serious question: What did you expect?

When Kim Kardashian becomes president you better be nice to all of us who vote for her too.

Yeah, maybe you should. Maybe you confuse "winning the election" with "actually being right"?

When I leave the liberal islands of sanity and travel through the Sea of Red, I feel threatened very often. I am subject to discrimination, attract the attention of law enforcement, and have to deal with various homophobic taunts and jeers just for having the gall to show up in Smallsville. To be sure, I haven't received a physical beating in a while, but then I'm heading out into Trumps America next week, who knows what will go down.

You are in a place where even well written policy is eaten for breakfast. This mishmash of hot air, knee jerk reactions and horse testosterone that is being trotted out and called "policy" ain't gonna cut it. And neither will we find the silver tongued shit pitching ass hats ever to be vaguely acceptable. Defend them as you will, your case is weak and your opponents are many.

and how do they feel? I myself am a minority, and an immigrant but my family and I had to work hard to come to this country, NOT BREAK THE LAW

EDIT: I see someone else already answered and that you are not an immigrant while your parents are. Might want to edit that other post.

I thought you said you were an immigrant...how can you be born and raised in LA and be an immigrant? Your confusion is not surprising considering you voted Trump.

As of now, Trump has not implemented any radical social or racial issues so everyone is basically freaking out over a bunch of words which may or may not become reality. I would say wait until he actually does something controversial and/or racially segregating; then I'm all for it.
