Look. I would buy this game and spends days playing it again. So would most of my friends. But I'm not about to buy IW paying 130$ for pleasure. I have not enjoyed the futuristic COD games and have decided to stop supporting it with my money.

If I can buy it as a standalone then I buy it but not before then.

they don't even sell modern warfare remaster

IT WAS A PRE-ORDER BONUS!

who the fuck does that

I thought the remaster also came in the legacy edition of the game, no? Its like $80?

This is correct.

So $80 for an old game?

There's enough to criticize without making stuff up guys. $80 for two games, one is a very good remaster.

True, only thing I personally would have wished for is a theater mode. Probably not that easy to implement, but I would've really enjoyed it :(

It is not a preorder bonus. It is an add-on.

it wasn't a dick move, it was a penis move.

Infinite Warfare is an add-on...

A shitty company who doesn't give a singular fuck about their playerbase.

I suppose they wanted people to pre-order as that's where most of the money would come from, they probably knew after the first trailer dropped that no one wanted to buy it.

Dude join us on R6 Siege, you won't be disappointed. I promise.

I beg to differ. 40 minuites into trying to make a 4 man party. Something that takes 10 seconds on steam. Uplay is cancer. Couldnt even hop on to play a game with a friend because of it erroring making a party!

I have to say, I hate Siege because it's sooooo damn buggy, but it gives you an itch that only it can scratch. No matter how many times I say "I'm done with this game," I always end up back on it.

I was literally just talking to my friends about this, they would have like 5 more sales just from us if they weren't so greedy and charge $130 for a 9 year old game. Because let's be honest, Everyone's only buying it for MW

Where did you get $130 from? I bought the game brand new for $64 with Amazon prime preordering.

I can no longer afford to pay $60 for a game, played on a $350 system, that sells $50 Dlc packs for a game that I'll only pay a couple of times a month.

Seriously, I get my new game fix via this sub because I can no longer afford any new games. Sigh I'll go back to beating the call of duty ghost single player again

I understand the vicarious feels. That's why replay value is so important. I feel like slowpoke over here like, "that Last of Us is pretty cool, right?"

/r/patientgamers might be something to check out!

[–]URnot_drunk_Im_drunk 34ポイント35ポイント  (8子コメント)

The Last of Us WAS pretty damn cool.

[–]keyboards_n_coffees 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Still waiting for that sequel about Tommy and his pet St Bernard.

I'm stuck in a huge Building with a shit load of zombies in a room i dropped down into, quit there

But if a game has reply value you might not buy next year's version cause you're still playing this year's.

Itll still be cool to me until I can get the system.

Jesus Christ, that's fucking depressing

I really liked the Ghosts single player campaign.

I was let down. They started with an amazing homefront/red dawn-esque setting where you're the underdog and this is your home that you're fighting for as a survivalist and then like 3 or 4 missions in it just feels like two equal cliche good vs bad militaries fighting each other.

I think that's the only thing anyone liked about it.

I think I'm the only one that genuinely enjoyed the multiplayer. I thought the snipers in that game were pretty good as well as the assault rifles. And it wasn't the 'spawn die spawn die' cycle that was MW2 and black ops 1. Idk, I liked it

Edit: meant mw3 not mw2

I liked it as well and I wasn't completely terrible at it, which probably helped

MW2 was only spawn die spawn die if you were shit. I can't vouch for BO as I didn't play that

Whoops meant MW3, the killstreaks and open air maps were a combination for spawn kills

That wasn't my experience

I went back and played it 6 months ago because it was the first multiplayer game I had actually ever really immersed myself in.

The largest problem I had was actually the opposite: The people I killed got spawned behind me, while the rest of their team was still in front of me. This quickly ended quite a few streaks and some frustration, though I figured out that you just kind of have to be aware of where your own team is and stick somewhere nearby so the other team keeps spawning in front of you.

Other than that I found the game super easy now even though I hadn't played a CoD game on a console in years.

Hands down my least favorite thing about cod. The maps make getting surprised by some magically appearing a-hole way too easy.

Number of times i've been knifed out of nowhere and jumped out of my skin is getting ridiculous

Did people like that one a lot? It felt a bit meh to me, but that might be because I played it after the MW campaigns.

From what I can remember from it, it started really strong and ended strong, with the middle taking a dip in terms of quality.

[–]Magnon 2

The benefits to playing on a delay on pc. An older decent pc where you can buy games on sale for dirt cheap is a great way to game on a budget without having to buy 60$ games.

You can do pretty much the same on console, just picked up an Xbox one S for $200 and I've been playing $5 games all month

People wonder why I've been playing destiny for 14 months...

I want the new CiV game... I want the new battlefield.. I want the new Titan Fall... it's all too expensive now.

How did I afford all these games when I teenager... oh yeah because they were so cheap!!!

[–]uncultured_mamoswine 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Try greenmangaming. They sell these mystery boxes for 50 cents a piece right now. Each one has a code in it for a game.

Sometimes you get some really awesome games, but some make you think wtf...

and on top of that extra, for online subscription

I don't mean to start a pc vs console war, but it's free to play online on pc. Yes it is more expensive for the initial buy-in, but you can always go cheap to start. I don't understand people can complain about the cost of Xbox live and psn and do nothing about it.

I know im a pc gamer myself im just stating how much of a bitch it is to game on a console

I play both but my ps4 subscription expired about 6 months ago and I haven't bothered to renew it. It's so expensive considering I barely use it.

I wouldn't mind paying if we were getting dedicated servers, instead it's still peer based multiplayer, I mean seriously it's 2016

What bs would that be. I'm pretty sure Activision would be able to pay for the servers with the money they make or do a 50/50 like ea does with battlefield (some official servers some community paid dedicated servers)

This is why I play overwatch on pc. No paid dlc and constantly updating.

Exactly. An example; I really like the Battlefield series and I mean really like it. I have 100's of hours in each game all the way back to 1942.

But BF1 broke that for me. Yes, BF1 is a good game (from what I played in the beta) but the whole base game + premium has been an annoyance since it was introduced with BF3.

But now with my country's currency doing badly, a game that was $60 used to be R600 (10:1 or so) but now BF1 is R900. I can't afford R900 + DLC.

I've been eyeing Overwatch for a while, ever since they said that all future maps and heroes would be free. With the 40% off Black Friday sale, it dropped Overwatch down to R500.

Tried the free weekend, liked it enough to buy it. Knowing that I will get future content for free, feels really good.

Yeah. South Africa knows how to put a damper on video game collections. I know the feels.

Also, your username makes me chuckle.

Actually $60, you're essentially paying $60 for a full game and another $60 for a quarter of a game.

You forgot about the added costs if you want to play online.

[–]Trump_For_Janitor 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Last time i tried, I couldn't get punk buster installed and every server kicked me. =(

I won't put 60 hours into the game and would never reach 100 hours even if I got all the dlc. But back then I totes could because it was the only thing I played. Today, it just aint worth it.

You know i would actually be down if we did something like what Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition subreddit does.

Every year on a specific day, they do a revive multiplayer thing where we would all launch the game, create a brand new character and start playing it as if it was new with a much more vibrant player base.

Of course, DS was not multiplayer specific so this might not work out as intended.

I thought you can leave clues / join other games in DS?

What i meant was that DS was a single player oriented game that had multiplayer aspects, such as the ones you mentioned.

This CoD would be entirely reliant on actually having players to play with (And servers i think)

For the most part in DS, you either walk around like normal and get invaded/go invade some poor guys world or you can either help/be helped by other players. Then theres the PvP arena thing where you fight like true gentlemen (If i bow, please bow too. Not backstab. I never asked for that).

You can, but you don't have to.

Bring back Call of Duty: United Offensive and I'll play that shit.

Battlefield 1 is that game. I've logged about 57 hours so far.

[–]PM_ME_BOOTY_PICS_ 6ポイント7ポイント  (7子コメント)

Cause BATTLEFIELD 1

No, because the CoD series failed to improve and add interesting stuff to the series. Even when BF3 and BF4 were released the hype for CoD was big, but the recent releases angered a lot of players due to lack of innovation. It didn't fail because of Battlefield, it failed because it went to shit.

Super jumps and boosts and shit was dumb. People love modern war and realistic gameplay, they hit their success there when people were just getting off the Halo train. Fucking those guys over at IW a few years ago didn't help either. MW2 was the last CoD game I played.

realistic gameplay

http://i.imgur.com/JlfdHme.jpg

Oh no nit-pick guy is here with his funny gifs. Upvoters train choo choo. Here comes pedantic guy to point out that "realistic" doesn't specifically mean "simulation:

having or showing a sensible and practical idea of what can be achieved or expected.

Eg "humans" with "real guns" -vs- "rocket jumping dog-like robots" with "fantasy claw weapons" in outer space.

Realistic definitely applies when making this comparison.

They were just copying Titanfall. As soon as Advanced Warfare was announced, my first comment was "hmm, i wonder if it will have double jumps, wallrunning and invisibility!".

The reason battlefield will always do better is that it's like a big battlefield. CoD stayed a twitch shooter on tiny maps.

And now those guys that got kicked out are spearheading Respawn. Titanfall 2 is the way to go! (If you're following those developers)

Guy literally just described that he doesn't like boosts and super jumps, and your suggestion is motherfucking titanfall 2? Man, fuck the shilling for that game.

But Titanfall wasn't an established series that has gone way out of its way from what it once was. It's the principle of the thing. People want CoD to be CoD, not a mashup of CoD and Halo.

And Titanfall 2 is actually quite good, all post launch content is free, and the microtransactions are handled extremely well. It also has an insanely high skill ceiling and is well balanced, all hinges CoD is missing. But I'm just a shill, right?

It doesn't matter how good something is, when someone says they literally dislike the main features of the game chances are high they're not interested in the game.

"I don't like shooting games." "Here, play this first person shooter."

What microtransactions? As far as I'm aware, credits for camos and unlocks can only be earned through gameplay and Advocate gifts.

and the microtransactions are handled extremely well.

In essence: They don't exist.

Yet.

Also that was the last good game.

I thought the first Black Ops game was good. That's the last one that I played.

It was. It was the last multi-player I enjoyed. Actually enjoyed the black ops 2 campaign as well.

I really enjoyed mw3 and black ops but after that it started going down hill...

People love modern war and realistic gameplay,

Well, yes, but there was also another market. cod4 was hugely popular, but so was MW2. I would argue that MW2 would have been a much better game if it weren't for commando and OMA perks (maybe without launcher secondaries too..) - and I guess the main difference was how fast paced it was relative to previous CODs and treyarch's W@W.

I think the idea behind super jumps and boosts was to add to that, just because it wasn't successful doesn't mean they had the wrong idea. Yeah there is a market for modern and realistic gameplay, but a lot of people are or were not a fan of the older battlefields and preferred games like MW2/MW3 because they were much more arcade-y and fast paced.

I think its really narrow minded to not think about the rest of the player base and what their preferences may be, or consider why they pursued this type of gameplay.

edit: I'd also point out the its usually the same people that dislike the changes that COD made and then hit them with the hey they barely changed anything (eg. MW3 was really similar to MW2).

The only ones that can take down the cod dynasty was cod themselves.

[–]Felaa 0

but the recent releases angered a lot of players due to lack of innovation.

I feel like this is bullshit considering most people want to buy the remastered CoD4 over the new flavour in IW.

innovation is all they've done. what people hate about the new cod is how far from the original they are. get rid of the jetpacks and improve the fundamentals

Isn't Infinite Warfare still projected to outsell BF1?

CoD4 Remaster is only available in the 80/90 dollar version. Not everyone getting Infinite Warfare is picking up CoD4 Remaster.

Maybe they'll sell Remaster by itself later.

I would buy MW remastered I they sold it separately. But as it sits right now, nope.

Maybe on console, but PC sales are at a record low for the series, way down from even last year. If they don't turn this around I wonder if they will even keep releasing a PC version.

Our so called developers...prostituted us to Activision...destroyed our storylines, our character development, our honour...

I bought a PS4 after I had to sell mine last year due to lack of funds. I got this game and redownloaded some off my psn account, COD remaster is still really fun, I know it's easy to shit on what it has become but me and friends enjoy it and so do a lot of people

Well, yeah. It's a 9 year old game, what do you expect?

I think he's talking about COD in general not just cod4

In that case, that just doesn't make sense.

He is looking at COD servers as a whole.

Back then, the peak would be 30k-60k, nowadays the titles can't reach even 10k (Steam).

Back then, the peak would be 30k-60k, nowadays the titles can't reach even 10k (Steam).

To be fair, CoD hasn't really been a PC game. They just ported the console version over and have almost no support for it so it's not popular. Loads of people are playing on console though :)

probably the most fun i'd ever had playing a multiplayer game. i absolutely hated how each year the new games would get progressively worse, but they'd still cannibalize the user base of the previous games just because they were new.

It's hard to sell a mediocre product when the market is flooded with comparable if not better products.

Zombies is the best part of the franchise now.

These games burnt me out, the peak for me was 2009 and its downfall was Ghosts. Was a hell of a good run though.

Why would I play CoD when I have Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2?

Titanfall 2 just isn't getting the love it deserves. It's genuinely one of the best FPS's to come out since modern warfare, the campaign is genuinely memorable (albeit short, which again Modern Warfare was) and there's no paid DLC maps! Given they've dropped the price to $20 as well, it deserves better than it's getting.

Did you say TF2 is 20 bucks?

No, Call of Duty 4.

PC still has a thriving modded community.

yeah, but I want to play cod 4, not black ops 2 in cod 4 or any of the other nonsense.

I'm sure you'll find a server you'll like. The most popular modded servers are Promod servers anyway, and while it's not exactly like normal CoD4, it's still more like CoD4 than Black Ops 2.

I've been playing on some server that has maps from CoD2 through BO2. Still feels like CoD4, but with new-ish maps.

[–]Morkum 0

https://cod4x.me/

CoD4 still has a decent playerbase on PC, whether you want Hardcore, Softcore or ProMod. Lots of modded servers/maps as well. One of my current faves is a custom gun-game game mode server.

Remastered version doesn't even have this map.

Wait wtf

A few others are missing too, including wet work (the cargo ship) and countdown (missile silos). I think in total 5 of the original mp maps aren't included.

The two you named and the one op posted were my favorite maps. Why aren't they included?

The CoD fanbase killed the game, in 2011 people were complaining that it's the same game every year (and made it sound like that was a bad thing) so both studios went for innovative/different games, one made a future CoD (BO2) and one made a BF-CoD hybrid (Ghosts). People still complained about it still being the same so developers made a futuristic game with brand new gameplay and the community disown it, the community has turned to shit along with the games.

Activision's greed killed the franchise. They wanted yearly releases so of course people got bored of it. Remember when guitar hero was the fucking shit and everyone seemed to collect plastic guitars? Same thing happened.

IW tried to put up a fight and only out out a new game every 2 years, but activision just threw more studios at it.

Now people are sick of it, because every year you can only get minor incremental improvements and its just not the same.

That's not to say that other studios haven't brought some great stuff to the games, zombies for one, but what activision should have done was release a main cod game, then support it with DLC over the next 18-24 months instead of a full title and only do a full title every 2 or 3 years. I'd be much more willing to pay for the season pass if I was guaranteed it'd have a shelf life beyond a couple of months

Hilarious. People asked for originality and innovation so the studio made the same game but set it in the future. And when people complained that wasn't original or innovative, it was the fanbase that was the problem!

Everything from BO2 onwards wasn't innovative. it was the same shit repackaged and hyped. Setting something in the future isn't original, Badly welding two very similar FPS games together isn't the same thing as innovation!

CoD used to be the market leader, but to maintain that position you need ideas. And they had none except to repackage their bestseller again and again, change the background and occasionally bolt on a mechanic or two that could only be used when they told you to use it but was largely ignored.

Is that really such a bad thing though?

That's the communities fault though, people are silly, buying a brand new game to play the same game thats already been released... sigh.

Planetside 2 just celebrated its 4th anniversary, and they're still releasing significant new content!

You must be stuck in the last decade then, I'm not really sure how you still have a 32-bit OS.

Do you genuinely only have a 32bit PC or is it just your OS that's 32bit?

I have both in Xbox one and ps4. Battlefield has wayyyy more support. Battlefield.

Somehow linking the young kids who promise to do stuff to your mom with any kind of term that ends with 'base' is just weird.

It's almost as if things come to an end or something.

How surprising.

Makes me more surprised that there is a huge player base for any games, considering the large amounts good games out there already. The selection is prety huge now compared to then. You have games like Lol which draws in 10 mil+ pop, Wow another 6mil or so, then free mmos, minecraft, then fps multiplayer.

Then you have the Console market which divides the fan base even more.

Now with other cultures developing and jumping, like china for example increasing base as well.

Talk about a post with absolutely no value.

I ended so many kids careers in COD4, but I ain't paying for IW, fuck off.

They should have continued with MW and WaW genre.

Just sell me Call of Duty®4: Modern Warfare Remastered for about $15-20 USD and i will buy it and play the shit out of it. I'm not interested in Infinite Warfare or whatever it's called.

I stopped because of the hack invasion. Cod is a fun shooter, imo. I'm not aboard the hipster hate train. I've just moved on.

Cos they are greedy fuckers. I'm not buying IW until it comes down to the $20 range, and that's only to play Space zombies (which is pretty good. They finally stopped trying to do their own shite version and just shamelessly cloned Treyarch zombies. This is a GOOD thing.)

Bloc isn't one of the 10 mp maps included is it?

Is it really that bad?

And titanfall 2, watchdogs 2, dishonoured 2... battlefield 1 must've got some sales!! Good for them, cod can eat shit.

still waiting for activision to finally adopt the f2p model that brought dota & LoL so much success

Well the whole DLC craze is our fault, pre ordering everything under the sun with a blockbuster franchise title allowed them to put out half ass work selling half of a game. It is really frustrating when were taken advantage of as consumers but no one is willing to boycott or stand up to the companies. The only way they'll listen is if we don't give them our money and wait for games to he released and reviewed.
