Diversity is just a code word for antiwhite

Pretty much. I once worked for a Fortune 500 company. When I quit, on my last day I had to attend an exit interview. All the HR rep wanted to talk about was diversity. Asked me if I was quitting because I felt there wasn't enough diversity and shit like that. Finally I snapped and told this woman, this white woman, that I didn't give a damn about anyone's race, gender or background. That I don't give a rat's ass about diversity. All I care about is that my boss was my boss because of her resume and not her skin color. She said "Well, glad to see this racist is leaving."

Yeah, called a racist for not caring about Diversity. I honestly wasn't surprised. The HR rep announced that she was going to open up more and more leadership positions for minorities and make sure that minorities get a better shot at promotions. I basically told my boss and coworkers that I have zero shot at moving up at all. That I could be the very best at what I do and HR was going to keep me down because of my skin color and because I'm white there is not a damn thing I can do about it because to make one comment is to be called a racist.

Now you're a janitor.

I'm a Great Janitor!!!

Make Janitors Great Again!

Yeah that's pretty messed up

"Diversity is just a code word for antiwhite" is code word for "I'm a racist"

[–]LawlosaurusTea Party Conservative 31

I don't understand why the cast of a play suddenly feels that it's qualified to lecture anyone on anything, let alone the Vice President Elect of the United States.

Because Liberals.

People from the left tend to think if the excel in one area or another then they have the moral authority to lecture others about everything and anything. They are do-gooders who think they are well above the fray.

As people affected by the shade thrown around during the election, aren't they in a solid position to ask that a newly elected leader of the nation hear their concerns?

The idea of the initial casting was for the story of the american revolution to be told by a group of people who reflect what modern america actually looks like. For the record, there are also white cast members in the show. Also, you know... How the characters were written/ intended to be performed...

And since when is diversity only the difference between white and not white? You can have diverse groups of non white people... Honestly i dont know what thier casting call has to do with anything or how its relevant beyond finger-pointing...

Why does it feel like all of this just turns into "you did this once so i dont have to listen to you ever".... I dont even know who im mad at or why anymore. Cant we all just... Have the conversations instead of always finding petty reasons why the other side doesnt deserve a seat at the table?

What if a play advertised, "Blacks not wanted" do you think anyone would see a difference?

Nowhere in the casting call does it say "Whites not wanted". But I see why you did that. "Seeking non-whites" doesn't sound controversial enough.

Original ad

Link

Again... I'd love to see the reactions had the ad read, "Seeking WHITE men and women."

I take it you're not familiar with casting ads in general. If you're looking to cast a black person, that's what you write. If you're looking for a white person, that's what you write. This can't possibly be revelatory for anyone unless they're just looking for reasons to be outraged.

Then show me some ads calling for whites only then. If it is so common it should be very easy.

Thanks!

http://www.marylandfilm.org/castingcalls.htm

Quite a few here...

EDIT - Or here... http://www.nycastings.com/castings-2/

In fact... Most casting call sites actually let you search by ethnicity...

You have supported your point. I would still assert their outburst was rude and unnecessary and the way their ad was phrased makes them look like chumps.

I've said this time and time again. If you honestly feel that taking an opportunity to make your voice heard as a citizen of the US to speak to your elected official is "rude" or that a level headed and very well spoken comment is an "outburst" then I don't know what else to say.

The way their ad was phrased was no different than any other casting call. 5 minutes of research could have told you that.

The only "chumps" here are the people eternally searching for the next sucker punch to throw. Stay on task. Focus on your country. This is pitiful.

Show me the show with that casting call and sure thing lets look at the reasons together. But again, this was a show with a person writing it with a specific type of cast in mind, for a specific purpose. If somones writing a musical about say germany v. Russia ww2, im not gonna be too shocked if the cast isnt full of black folks, nor am i going to be offended by it, because again: there is a clear reason for it.

So again, this is completely superficial. The casting call was to create a specific show, not to exclude a subset of people. just like in the example above.
Do you actually have a problem with the casting call, or do you actually feel like the two things are actually related, given what the hamilton cast actually said? I honestly dont know what is offensive here

Edit: spelling

Their hypocrisy is showing.

Guess that answers all my questions.

The idea of the initial casting was for the story of the american revolution to be told by a group of people who reflect what modern america actually looks like.

Daily reminder that us whites aren't gone yet (you might've noticed on the 8th).

Which is why there are, in fact, white people in the cast as well. Its almost as if there are white and non white people in america

It's racist to be prejudiced against everyone but whites. Then it's suddenly permissable to label and generalize. Kanye did a casting call for non-whites only too.

GET OVER IT - Don't even begin to give me this bullshit without reading into/trying to understand Lin Manuel-Miranda's vision for this show. He wanted to tell a story about the creation of the country with a representation of today's American backgrounds in mind. The "lecture" that was given to the Vice President-Elect was not rude. It was a respectful plea to an ELECTED GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL (aren't they supposed to listen to the legitimate concerns of their citizens???). What people are doing here is twisting the facts. He came to see their show, they get to do say whatever they want, as long as it's respectful (I didn't see them going at him with Trump-like "tact", like when he publicly made fun of a disabled reporter... talk about disrespect). So get over your finger-pointing. It's not working.

GET OVER IT

Nice logical rebuttal.

(I didn't see them going at him with Trump-like "tact", like when he publicly made fun of a disabled reporter... talk about disrespect

Hoax

Cheers.

Hmm... I'm so glad you used an ultra-right wing sensationalist "website" to discredit the still incredibly disrespectful comment he said. The "100% proof" this article claims to have is from an organization called "Catholics 4 Trump"...? Oh, and also his own non-"recollection". Nice reporting there.

The website has several videos of Trump acting the same was about Ted Cruz (as previously mentioned) and when mocking ISIS so...I giess the videos are fake?

Ad hominem fallacy.

What an arbitrary use of the word "hoax". There are two actual facts here. 1. Trump was imitating the disabled reported in question, and 2. it was done in a mocking manner. Therefore he mocked him.

Trump has made fun of Ted Cruz in the same way and Ted Cruz is not disabled.

Are these two related, too?

When ice cream sales rise, so does crime.

Actually the ice cream / crime this IS related... Blame the Summer
http://sociology.about.com/od/Ask-a-Sociologist/fl/Why-Does-Crime-Spike-in-Summer.htm

Yup but correlation doesn't imply causation.

Correct... However, with that logic, Trump could be mocking the reporter for being disabled AND use the same manner to mock Ted Cruz who is not?

Hook, line and sinker

And he mocked ISIS the same way?

Want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn?

He wanted to tell a story about the creation of the country with a representation of today's American backgrounds in mind.

White people still exist idiot.

Thanks for reminding me. And in the original and current cast, there are white people as well (King George was played by Jonathan Groff, and is now played by Rory O'Malley, for example). http://www.broadway.com/shows/hamilton-broadway/cast/ Nice try though.

"Yeah YT is the villain of the play, what of it?"

When you're taking care of Javier Muñoz, make sure to spit.

Strange, I always tell your mom the same thing...

I had three dads, bigot.

At least one and a half of them were transgendered, sexist.

Can... can we just take a moment to reflect on the fact that all of the characters portrayed in the show were actually white people?

That's my line, not yours.

Is it though?

Youre lamenting a white guy being the villain when all of the actual characters were white... Plus half the cast switches from pro to antagonist between acts

And the king's character is super likeable by design... I really dont see the issue here

all of the actual characters were white...

I don't see many buyers for my all-white play centering around Martin Luther King Jr's life...

That's because you can't put together a diverse cast of top-notch actors, give them a beyond life-changing script, have them bring down a sold-out house each and every night, collect a record number of award nominations and wins, and still graciously perform for the VP-elect of a bigoted administration... I suppose crazier things could be done.

a beyond life-changing script

It's a play about founding fathers with the gimmick that they're played by black dudes.

Great rebuttal! It's about time a white person play the villain in a play... they play so many in real life already. And with that second comment, we're done. You've obviously shown your TRUMP card. God loves you and so do I!
