Honest question for my fellow Trump Haters - How are you going to navigate through Thanksgiving with your "extended" family? (self.EnoughTrumpSpam)

I'm planning to mostly drink my way through it (and hope I don't start "going in" on my father in law) but you know, take away hurting people's feelings for not showing up, I'd just rather not go this year.

Thanksgiving will be fine; that side of my family should all be on the same page, more or less. Christmas could be complicated; some folks there might be Trump supporters, but we tend to mostly avoid political discussion. We'll see if that holds up this year.

Christmas will be easy with the war stories about getting presents and such, plus that's a month farther away from the election.

But this is going to be rough - get this - My father in law and my sister in law's husband's brother in law (it's my Sister in law's place) are both big Trumpers.

Did I mention this will be in Pennsylvania? That's right - these are the same people who gave Trump the White house.

I'm wondering how much I can drink, sitting in the car, before I go in.

I haven't seen any of them since I came out as trans and that arrangement suits all of us just fine.

I guarantee they'll all be drunk and ranting about how Trump is gonna take our country back though.

Immediate family? Have a discussion with them. Find out why they feel the way they do, and share the reasons I feel the way I do. Try and let them know that they've made the wrong decision (not that it really mattered in MA).

My wife's angry live-at-home-cousins? Roll my eyes and ignore them while informing them I have better things to do than argue with people who refuse to accept fact.
