They are saying it's ran by a 4chan group, no good.

Yea, check which version of gazelle is linked to in the footer; avoid this crap.

Indeed, it's ran by the morons at oppaitime.

Same staff that put up phishing sites for other trackers.

Avoid.

you got a source for that fam? heres a post by one of the sysops of oppaitime, he seems like he knows what he's talking about and stuff. https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/4ltpcj/an_open_letter_to_tracker_staff/ tbh not buying the crap that they're morons of did phising. but i'll believe it if theres a reputable source on it!

it is well known that spaghetti ran an animebytes phishing site to acquire admin credentials to ban himself :O)

apparently not well known enough. Got a sauce on that?

Can confirm. I stole over a hundred accounts and caused the anime stock market to crash.

And I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids and that stupid dog

According to himself it was to prove the point that phishing is too easy but he didn't announce anything to staff before he did it so that may or may not be true. /u/spaghetti2514 please confirm

Nope. Wrong.

I phished AB out of nothing but the malice in my heart. I cannot stand weebs and was doing everything in my power to end them. Pretty soon I will be hacking into jpopsuki's gibson and cracking their unixes until they beg me for the sweet release of quality western melodies

I think we need a site with better opsec.

http://www.crimeflare.com/cfs.html#box

search for nostream.co

Here's everything we know:

So far it appears to be the first public attempt at a What successor. It's not known to be backed by What.cd officially. The staff includes AzzA, who is probably best-known for being accused of stealing money from BTN, and Sarek/geekmaster, who created the Genaviv stylesheet for What.

The current home page uses a video from Spotify. Discussion is largely taking place in #var on irc.varmag.com although the actual development channel is private. It seems that nocd.club is another domain they're using that could eventually be the final address.

There's a Pastebin going around that suggests they've been handed over What's user and torrent information, but this has been confirmed to be fake by ars3nic (former What.cd team) and others.

So far the general consensus is that it looks very shady and that although it may be fastest, a true What successor is likely to be a longer wait. At worst, it's a phishing scam, and at best a new tracker founded by people lacking the charm or good faith reputation of What.cd. Its supporters, who are calling anyone doubting idiots, has not helped matters.

I haven't been commenting publicly, but I'm going to because I'm sick of people talking shit about AzzA. He is known for being the guy who created BTN and lead it successfully as Sysop for years before a hostile takeover. There is a reason most development stopped on BTN after he left. It's because he was the beating heart of the site. For the record, he was a great Sysop and didn't steal shit. Also, he is not formally involved with NoStream, simply advising and hanging out because he's a cool fucking dude. Now, go spread your rumors elsewhere.

...and who are you and what is your relation to him? Why couldn't he say this himself?

I worked directly under him as a moderator/team leader and was around for the whole stupid drama. He is a very nice guy who isn't the type to argue with randoms gossiping about him on Reddit, so I'm here to do it instead.

And are not you going to address why there was a hostile takeover?

Azza was a good dev, but good sysop, no, if current BTN admin is to believed. You do realize BTN is striving after Azza 'left' right? Software development wise, not much has improved, as a tv tracker it has gotten far better.

Are other totv staff part of nostream, out of curiosity?

I'm still not sure why the hostile take over happened. I was told it's because i wasn't a very good manager and i jumpde the gun alot not thinking things through. To be fair, i was only 18 and didn't have much experience managing things. That's why i got other SysOps on board, but they just back stabbed me. I managed everything else pretty well. One day while i was AFK, the upper staff just changed the passwords to everything to lock me out. I never stole donations, i did however move them to an alternative paypal account so i could close my one down.

Azza is quite honestly the best sysop I know, and I run the us-east-2 aws cluster soooo

not a problem, but anyway use a vpn to be secure

Doubt anyone here is going to be able to give you good info right now. To me, the CSS fuckery makes this look like a poor phishing attempt.

Definitely running Gazelle. Their fork is open source, and the CSS fuckery was caused by this commit, more specifically

    -  margin: auto 10% auto auto;
    +  margin: auto;

    [–]southlandardman 1ポイント2ポイント  (3子コメント)

What would be the point of phishing?

Many people use the same password on different sites.

on principle i would not go to any site that explicitly attempts to "replace" wcd by copying their look. if a place comes around that looks of genuine heart and are going to develop their own identity then i don't see the harm in at least making an account

It's very premature to interpret a placeholder as an attempt to replace What whole-scale though.

So how long did you hold up your nose at what.cd when it looked like an oink clone at its outset?

I don't know. I joined what a couple years ago. I'm mostly referring to sites like bitgamer, which had an immediate clone (name and all) attempting to capitalize on its closure.

To answer hypothetically, if what did indeed lift everything off of oink for a while, changing only the name, I probably would have held my nose up at them for some time.

how can i join the what refugee IRC?

    irc.p2p-network.net

    #what-refuge

    it says its invite only...

    Did you take the interview?

    Mode #what-refuge +ntrSCfj [3t]:4 5:10 by mars.ca.p2p-network.net Channel #what-refuge created on 2016-11-17 22:51:41 UTC

You're doing something wrong. It shouldn't be invite-only.

I haven't used IRC much, but this piqued my interest:

Why, when connecting with mIRC and irssi, was I able to get into the channel, but with Quassel and HexChat, was unable to? (invite only msg)

The +S mode means only those connecting with SSL can join, maybe you haven't configured Quassel and HexChat properly. I was able to join with Quassel.

Unless they're running a modded Unreal3.2, S just means strip colors. Anyway, I can't get on with Quassel either - I reconnected with SSL and the same thing happens.

edit: I've figured it out. I'm connecting over IPv6 and their AAAA records contain IRC servers which seem to not be linked to their network anymore, thus some users are ending up on an isolated server where the refuge channel is invite-only.

Ah, I'm not too sharp on my IRC mode glossary so I mixed it up :)

Thanks for the help. It seems HexChat should connect with SSL by default, but even with -ssl (and port 6697) manually added to my server join command, I can't seem to join the what-refuge channel.

Not a big deal I suppose since irrc/mirc work fine. Just strange. I'll keep tinkering with it.

See my other post next to yours, I figured it out.

Try going here http://www.p2p-network.net/webchat.php Put in your Nick and Channel as what-refuge

It isn't invite-only, but you will in fact get that error by using certain IRC applications. This is the result of a net split. Keep trying different IRC clients until you get one that connects you to the page without error.

It's wrong. It's open for all and you can use any IRC client or web Mibbit.
