I think, one of the reasons our attack hasn't been up to par is because our left wing. None of the players playing there have performed to their best. And I think it's because most of them are attackers who can play wing, not wingers who can attack.

Martial was dreadful so far this season, including last night. He should've destroyed Jenkinson, but instead was kept anonymous. Not sure what's happening to him, but there was often no penetration to his game like he did last season.

Rashford was brilliant up front, until he had to make way to play in the left so Rooney could play up front. And although he did much better than Martial on the left, it's still not the best Rashford could do. I think it's better if he stayed up front so we could play long and direct ball for him to chase.

Memphis has never played well so far when called upon, Rooney did well on the left but could never terror full backs throughout the match.

If we compare them with how Mata operates on the right, it's miles apart. Mata is not a winger, he cuts inside all the time, leaving space for Valencia/Darmian to bomb forward. It works. Of course you can argue our left back isn't as strong as our right back, but we still should've done more on the left. We rarely see the combination play on the left like we do on the right with Mata-Herrera-Valencia.

Of our players, Miki is the obvious option to play on the left. He destroyed teams in Bundesliga playing on the left last season, but of course with Mou in charge, we'll never know what's going on with Miki. But if we do search for players in January, I think we need to buy a proper left winger who can attack.
