Atletico Madrid 0-3 Real Madrid - Ronaldo scores hat-trick

Real Madrid are four points clear at the top of La Liga. Atletico, nine points behind their rivals, might be out of the title mix.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored seven away goals at Vicente Calderon in La Liga. However he is not even the most prolific Ronaldo in that stat.

The Brazilian Ronaldo scored nine - the only player to have a higher tally than Portugual's one.

Atletico Madrid's fans are still singing and making loads of noise despite this derby rout. 

Two minutes of agony added on for Atletico - two minutes of ecstasy for Real.

It should probably be 4-0 to Real as Luka Modric heads over Dani Carvajal's cross from about seven yards out. A day to forget for Atletico.

Yannick Carrasco forces a diving save from Keylor Navas. It would only be a consolation now though if Atleti scored.

Real make their final change - young midfielder Marco Asensio, who has scored for Real in four competitions this season, replaces Lucas Vazquez.

Hat-trick ehre Cristiano Ronaldo comes off with the job well done. If this was at the Bernabeu, he would have received a standing ovation. But he comes off to jeers and whistles at the Vicente Calderon. James Rodriguez comes on.

Look at the scoreline! Just look at it! There's not too much happening on the pitch at this moment. Atletico are shell shocked.

Real Madrid are so confident now, they can bring on an extra striker. Karim Benzema, returning from injury, replaces Isco.

Even the great Diego Simeone can't turn this one around.

Real Madrid are keeping the ball well now. Atletico are getting frustrated. Juanfran catches Gareth Bale in the face, but escapes a booking, and Diego Godin was shown a yellow a few minutes ago for appealing against the penalty award.

Almost an instant response from Atletico but Yannick Carrasco's 20-yard shot is held by Keylor Navas.

They need a goal quickly.

A huge moment as Real Madrid win a penalty. 

Stefan Savic misjudges his swing at the ball and catches Cristiano Ronaldo rather than the ball. Reckless.

Out of nothing, Isco almost makes it 2-0 to Real. The ball drops from the sky and Isco hits an excellent 20-yard volley which Jan Oblak has to touch around the post.

Atletico winger Yannick Carrasco has a shot from 25 yards out but it's straight at Keylor Navas. We are midway through the second half now.

Atletico Madrid seem to have lost some of the momentum that made an equaliser seem inevitable in the early stages of the second half.

They're still playing well but it's definitely settled down.

Koke and Cristiano Ronaldo square up - and they're both booked. Idiots.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is playing real-life Football Manager here. He brings on two strikers, Angel Correa and Kevin Gameiro. Off comes captain Gabi, a midfielder, and forward Fernando Torres, who has been quiet.

Gareth Bale heads over from a free-kick. He probably should have done better. It's a raucous Vicente Calderon after a couple of fouls in recent minutes.

Real have a couple of rare chances in this second half. Cristiano Ronaldo can't get his head onto a cross and Dani Carvajal has a shot blocked.

Gabi has a shot blocked. Atletico Madrid have been excellent in this second half. They're swarming like red and white bees all over Real.

Whatever Diego Simeone has said to his players at half-time seems to have worked. Luka Modric dawdles on the ball for a second and Antoine Griezmann steals it off him and then smashes in a shot from 30 yards which Keylor Navas saves.

Atletico have come flying out of the blocks here. Antoine Griezmann lashes a cross across goal but nobody is there to tap into an empty net. The Frenchman will wish he had shot himself.

Yannick Carrasco almost levels for Atletico Madrid with a brilliant curling effort from 20 yards out. It was only just off target. Keylor Navas mightn't have got his hands onto that.

Atletico have a corner as Filipe Luis' cross is cleared. But Keylor Navas holds Yannick Carrasco's corner.

Atletico Madrid get the second half going. They like late goals so they're not out of this yet by any means.

Cristiano Ronaldo attempted three shots in the first half (all on target), as many as all Atletico players combined (three, none on target).

Neither set of players out on the pitch yet for what could be the final derby at the Vicente Calderon.

In Serie A, Juventus lead Pescara at half-time. Former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has scored the only goal.
