ABOUT PAGE ONE
The story of Page One begins in 1983, when a small shop with slanting shelves, stocking handpicked art and design books, opens in a shopping mall in Singapore. Day by day, and book by book, the small shop starts to build a loyal following and today, the small shop has evolved into a brand. Since then, Page One has marked its presence with bookstores in China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan. Page One is determined to continue its success story in even more countries.
Page One has been selected as “the best book shop” in HongKong on the three consecutive in 1999?2005 and 2006. Besides, it won “the best book shop” in Singapore in 2009. While it began as a retail outfit, Page One has over the years also expanded in the areas of book publishing and distribution. There are 120 categories arts and design books which have been published by Page One every year, especially focus on the Asian culture art. These titles have been translated into 13 languages including French, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. And furthermore, Page One has also agent managed the publishment businesses in Asian area for the other publishers, such as TeNeues, DAAN, ORO,Tectum, LOFT, LINKS and H.F.UIImann.
For now, Page One has expanding the business all over the mainland in China. On June in 2010, the first retail store in mainland China has been eatablished in Hangzhou MixC Mall; and then the second retail shop appeared at China World Mall in Beijing on April 2011, and the third one in jiuxianqiao Indigo Mall opened on May 2012; the first concept flagship store as the fourth retail shop was established at Taikoo Li Sanlitun on January 2013. It was considered as a complex of bookshop, cafe, restaurant and art commodity, and brings in an innovative life style to the customers who advocate simple fashion and cognitive style.
Page One hopes to bring its bookstores to the brightest international cities. Each of these bookstores will become centres where intellectual property, new titles, originations, translated works and cultural merchandise can be created and circulated, with Page One stores the gateways of knowledge and cultural exchange.
