                Holy crap. I was in the middle of reading this book when my mom came into my room to bring me a plate of chicken nuggets and I literally screamed at her and hit the plate of chicken nuggets out of her hand. She started yelling and swearing at me and I slammed the door on her. I’m so distressed right now I don’t know what to do. I didn’t mean to do that to my mom but I’m literally in shock from reading this book. I feel like I’m going to explode. Why the heck did she write this thing? This can’t be happening. I’m having a breakdown. I don’t want to believe the world is so corrupt. I want a future to believe in. I want Megyn to be able to write a decent book but this was awful. I cannot deal with this right now. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, I thought she was well educated and able to write???? This is so brutal.

                        I looked up and saw Kelly's book is published by HarperCollins which says on their wiki that its a subsidiary of NewsCorp which owns Fox, so it certainly looks like that.

                        From quick Google it simply means you made the New York Times Best Seller list.

                        Quicker diving into each section it seems like they have about 20-25 section broken up into Fiction, Nonfiction, Children's, and Graphic Books all with their own subsections tallying the top 20 sold every week.

                        The monthly list also seems to have a different rules by a top 10.

                        So Megyn Kelly could make either the monthly "Politics and American History" section or the weekly "Paperback Nonfiction" though I doubt any book that makes the monthly list didn't make it into the weekly list so its a mute point.

                                                  Yeah I want Megyn to not profit from this as much as everyone else here but seeing that the first review in the OP said "verified purchase" was much stronger than all the meme warriors descending and putting "fake" reviews. Unfortunately the only way to truly impact the rating long term is to freaking buy a copy and then say it sucks, which isn't exactly a victory, though long term some individual sacrifice would lead to long term public 1 star tier.

                                                  A good example is when the Nvidia 1080s came out and a bunch of butthurt autists rated it a 1/5 due to availability issues. Their reviews should not count and be removed.

The amount of the advance is typically negotiable and is based on anticipated sales and is written into the author's contract. Book retailers don't assume any risk from stocking copies; unsold copies are returned. Those returns are debited from the authors royalty account.
