What are your thoughts about purity? (self.EnoughTrumpSpam)

I am curious as to how many people on this sub believes purity is the only way, VS working with people who might not be as pure as one would like (such as leaning more towards the center than the left)

We are way above these ideological purity questions. Now is a question of reasons vs feelings, truth vs deception, tolerance vs intolerance etc.

I think this is one of the dumbest questions I've ever seen. So seriously dumb that I can't even make a snarky comment about sandwiches vs purebread. Or water or air, because even a crappy analogy that doesn't work is more thought than this deserves.

The truth is not always in between, but "purity" is the domain of imbeciles looking to feel good about how little thought they put into something.

I ask this because of Bernie- I fear that he might cause his fans to widen the gap even more come 2018. I fear that he might cause his followers to try and enforce a certain level of purity that needs to be reached to get their vote- something that would cause much more harm than good.

Do you care to elaborate? I've seen enough accusations of not being pure enough leveled at Sanders that the idea he's now a major source of such a thing takes me aback.

Well, his followers worry me more than anything. Bernie, I imagine, won't do anything to curb his followers desires for purity.

But hey, I could be wrong. 2018 is long, long time to go.

I don't think you're wrong. Bernie Sanders created a cult of personality and his most rabbit supporters made this race toxic between Americans well before Trump supporters and Hillary supporters clashed.

Yes, but they're still around. They haven't gone anywhere, and they're still there- hell, they've might of grown with a 12X multiplier since hillary lost. That is why, I fear, they will screw 2018 up.

I agree, but tell that to the people in the thread on the front page about Bernie coming onto the Late Show. They are still devoted to him- and I fear that purity, above minor compromise, is their goal.
