You've seen girls who know how to dance. They're on dance shows, they're with musicians at concerts, they're dancing on stage, they're accurately doing famous dances on their Youtube channels, they're everywhere. They know how to do their thing. They dance accurately, professionally and impressively.
But then, you've come across girls who dance in...unusual ways. At first, you may laugh. You may cringe. You may be confused. You're thinking things like, "That's not a real dance!", "lol so silly", "Is she drunk?", "Those are just random moves!", "Hmm, never seen that before!", "Ok that's the Macarena but the girl is doing it too slowly", "I get that she's breakdancing but she's mixing some Waltz with it, what the hell?" or "Wow, what a terrible, terrible dance, but I can't look away!".
And that's what r/GirlsDancingAwkwardly is all about. It's a subreddit dedicated to gifs and videos of girls who dance, but in unusual ways. They may be famous dances but done in a lazy way, or way too fast, or with some weird twists, or completely wrong. They may be goofy dances. They may be arbitrary dances. They may be crazy dances. The dances could be awkward and uncoordinated. They could be some great, improvised movements that look like nothing you've seen before.
There's something captivating about watching those girls dance in those unorthodox, bizarre, random, awkward ways. It's confusing, cringe-inducing, funny, unexplainable, it's many things; but those dances have two things in common: 1) They are not "real" dances, and yet, 2) you can't look away!
