“Congratulations, you have a penis, you were born lucky!”

Ludicrous, isn’t it? Yet at every level of society, this commonly-held misconception persists: to be born male is to be born privileged.

The facts paint a startlingly different picture. Suicide is now the biggest killer of men aged under 50, with men more than three times likely than women to take their own lives.

British boys are falling further behind at every level of education. Boys born in 2016 are 75% less likely than girls to go to university, with working class white boys worst affected, an “ugly truth” pointed out by Theresa May in her first speech as Prime Minister.

Yet despite these ugly – and irrefutable – truths, men’s issues are widely ridiculed in the media, and those who stick up for men and boys are childishly mocked as “entitled manbabies” or, worse, shamed as misogynists.
