I went through something similar with my ex. He was so insistent that I get a sedan, I suspect so I could be his personal DD Uber for he and his awful friends, but in the end I got a BRZ.

We live together, and his reasoning is that anytime we did something that involved multiple people or a large cargo, he would get stuck with driving. I sort of get it? But we don't really carry people around that much (and people can drive themselves, yo), we aren't into heavy-duty travel like camping or anything, and we don't have kids.

I agree with previous. Why don't you just drive HIS car when he needs you to carry more. If he doesn't want to drive when the bigger. At is needed he should just put you in the driver seat of the bigger car.

Yeah. I mean, he's allowed to feel his feelings, that's totally fine. I don't think you'd be putting undue burden on him by getting a two-seater. And you're the one buying the car, so unless he's contributing significantly to payments in any way, it's not really his choice. Also, carting other people around is not your responsibility. And I imagine you're capable of driving his car in the event that you do need to cart people around, so he doesn't have to chauffeur people all the time.

He may not like that answer, but he doesn't have to like it. He just has to live with it.

They are both cool! I am a red-neck truck lover, but I keep hearing about how sporty and awesome Miatas are from people who know more about sports cars than I do.

Also, why is it selfish? I don't get it. If he wants access to a higher-capacity vehicle, HE can always get one for himself, can he not?

My SO loved his S2000! I'm not a big car gal myself, but I did like taking rides with him. Unfortunately it met its end in an accident (he was fine). It's one of my goals to be able to get him another one.

I know, I love that one! "It was designed by people who wanted to be able to open their suitcase and drive wherever they wanted!" Soooo extra suitcase (unless you intend to wear 1 set of clothing the entire time and think toothbrushes and deodorant are optional), presumably on the heavy side, so that you have all the 'convenience' of a vehicle, assuming that that vehicle isn't convenient to drive on either the road or the sidewalk, takes you much longer to get where you're going, requires being carted around by you wherever you go when you're not actually driving it, and is a really big paperweight if it breaks down.

Miata's are a lot easier to find than S2000's nowadays, and a lot cheaper. And it is a lot easier to get aftermarket parts for said miatas. Like turbo kits!

Because a miata without a turbo kit is a sad miata.

I bought a Fiat 500c 8 months pregnant. I made it work. Still get faces from my husband and told I should get a more "reasonable" car. Nope. The face that only my daughter and I fit is fine with me.
