What the hell has happened to Sanchez?

He doesn't look like he has the same attitude anymore. And adding to that he's lost his touch, bad first touches, so many missplaced and/or bad passes, and he fucking misskicks the ball everytime he has tried to shoot the last month. What has happened to him? :(

He is chasing form - snatching at chances, not reading his team mates, doing too much on his own. He will get there though because he is a hard worker and a world class player. Ramsey on the other hand will be chasing 2013 for the rest of his career.

[–]DenzelOntarioGoon Squaaad 58

I think it might be time to sit him for a couple matches. Let Joel Campbell start. Alexis can come on as a sub if really needed.

Alexis needs to get his head on straight, because something is clearly wrong. It's concerning.

Easily one of the worst United teams fielded in the past 20 years and we still couldn't cope. Everything was in our favor, our squad had key players back and fit, theirs was relying on a makeshift defense (fucking Carrick as a CB) and kids...even the goddamn ref was making correct calls in our favor.

Our mentality is shit and if by some miracle we win the league it will be incredibly undeserved. This kind of game is why we lose players.

Valera had a yellow card 8 minutes in and it was so nice of our players to not go near him the rest of the game.

I know we hate him but if we had a Costa-type player Varlela would have been gone.

Just fyi everyone, it's Varela.

I can't imagine how it must feel to be Ozil...18 assists during Arsenal's best chance to win the league in years and we're below Leicester and Spurs. Must be fucking demoralizing.

Don't worry. We ain't winning shit. Just as I had thought the minute the transfer window closed in the summer.

Same old shit, year in year out. Now we'll challenge for what we usually challenge for, the 4th place trophy.

Varela was on a yellow for almost the whole game and we gave him an easy ride.

Alexis was invisible. And when he was noticeable, he was shit.

Crazy how we didn't respond to the yellow cards and change the way we play to bury Carrick or especially Varela... It was him against Alexis ffs. But no less do more short passing around the box.

Can we stop shitting on Giroud and Per? When Giroud is having a bad game he fucking fights. When Walcott is having a bad game, he disappears. And a Walcott bad game happens at a much higher rate than any of us would care to admit. And Gabriel showed today that he still has a lot to learn. Per is still better than Gabs and shows it time and time again.

At times I forgot Walcott was on the field.

Walcott annoyed me the most this match. Only casually jogging around. Not even doing any good runs. When he loses the ball he just gives up and jogs away. You can see it so well in the first goal.

Giroud is miles better than Walcott at striker against any team with a pulse.

Definitely. Giroud may have dry patches in terms of finishing but he will battle every aerial ball, chase every back pass, try to make space and track back. Walcott did almost nothing today. I was watching him off the ball and he'd sit right on the full back strolling around for most of our attacking plays

    [–]Up-The-ArseWe gonna do this!

Players who try and fail always get it worse than those who just disappear.

Because they get more TV time; time to notice their failings. Either way, it shouldn't work like that. Giroud should be praised for constantly trying for us. He gives a shit about this team. I'm not sure you could say the same for Walcott and I haven't been for years.

I've never shat on Giroud. Dudes a good player. I don't know why people expect him to be Neymar.

That was an absolute disgrace. Worst performance this season.

Would not blame Ozil for leaving in the summer.

He has every right to go honestly. I'd hate to see him leave but a player of his quality deserves more than what this club can offer him right now.

The terrifying thing is the dramatic loss in quality in our center midfield department.

We have four CMs well into their thirties (Arte, Caz, Flam, and Roz), a CM who's just a solid CDM (Coq), an unproved CM from the Swiss league (Eln), one young CM who's perpetually injured (Wil), one CM who's had one good season (Ram), and an inconsistent CM who's more of a winger (Ox).

What the fuck happened to our core? Without Özil, we have no midfield.

What the actual fuck was that from Ramsey, Walcott and Gabriel. Disgraceful bottlers

    [–]DenzelOntarioGoon Squaaad 28

Feels even worse than the 8-2. No excuses to lose even if they had no injuries at all, but the team they put out?? Our first XI lost to a team with make-shift defenders and fucking academy kids.

Aaron Ramsey: 9 wayward passes, 4 losses of possession on the flanks/center of the park, 2 attempts at flashy moves/step overs that didn't come off and resulted in losing the ball, 2 attempts to bomb upfield leaving Coq out of position and forcing him to win with a last ditch sliding tackle, a stupid yellow card, a number of silly fouls (including a stoppage time shirt tug right outside the United box), and a ludicrously bad shot attempt.

I know Walcott was poor. I know our defense was poor. But honestly, if you really don't understand why having a CENTRAL FUCKING MIDFIELDER who is playing so absolutely, utterly, indisputably shit is causing a negative ripple effect in terms of how we play, you're fucking blind. It's not debatable anymore - I don't want to hear about his bullshit sideways passes giving him a high pass completion % (embarassing this is even pointed to, really), I don't want to hear about his work rate, his engine, or his desire, and I especially don't want to hear about his fucking distance covered. He is poor as a central midfielder, and always has been. He refuses to improve on any of his deficiencies that we've seen since the beginning of his career, and one great season (where, by the way, a lot of his issues were glossed over because he was doing so much in other departments) is not enough to entitle him - or anyone - to start in the middle of the pitch.

Santi, please come back, we cannot win the league without you.

Edit: Can't wait for the posts in the coming days explaining why anyone criticizing Ramsey doesn't understand (INSERT: partnership issues; INSERT: whole team out of form, not just Ramsey; INSERT: style doesn't suit him (this one is the funniest); INSERT: Hivemind/haters of Ramsey blame him no matter what). NEWS FLASH: We don't hate Ramsey (at least not the logical majority of us) - not as a person, not even as a player. We understand he's got so much potential, and when on his game, can be the best player on the pitch. But the cinderella run is over, and it's high time we come to accept it. What does that mean for the future? I don't know, hopefully Santi ages well, Jack stays fit, and Elneny comes good. If not, we better fucking spend and bring someone in. Arsene Wenger offensive style is predicated on a bruiser holding midfielder and a partner that can pass between the lines, dribble past a high press, and link up with the forward players seamlessly (see Petit, Edu, Silva, Viera, Fabregas). Ramsey does not fit the mold, and either will not or cannot adjust his style of play.

It's important now to support him - as he'll no doubt be devastated when he is dropped - and to hope that time on the bench or returning to the right will help instill a fresh perspective on how best to approach a future in the middle for this club. He's still young, and I'm rooting for him: we only stand to benefit from an in-form Ramsey. Time's like these are when the club needs to stand behind him. Despite my frustration (more aimed towards fans that act like climate change deniers towards Ramsey's poor form) I, and all the fans of this club, are rooting for you Aaron. Let's turn this around.

Ramsey is really playing horrendously. A central midfielder needs to always be available for a pass. He is too focused on making runs forward. And defensively he is a non-entity. Look at united's third goal. What on earth was ramsey doing. He was standing stationary at the left back position, god knows why.

At the end of the game when we really needed to get the ball forward Ramsey was also again not making himself available and just standing in the United half while el neny was looking around for a pass only to be able to pass with our defenders. That made me lose my mind

He was dogshit. Cazorla is such the better option. Miss him badly.

People on this subreddit keep on making excuses for Ramsey, along the lines of "the system doesn't suit him". If "the system doesn't suit him", why the fuck does he keep on making the starting line-up then?

Frankly, I think it's a cop-out. For many of the matches of Ramsey's great 2013-2014 season, he was partnered with Flamini. The idea that Coquelin is a bad partner for him and that he misses a distributor like Arteta or Cazorla is bordering on nonsensical.

He's not as good as a play-maker as Özil. He can't distribute as well as Arteta/Cazorla/Wilshere. He's regressed incredibly in defensive prowess and is now worse than a fit Coquelin. That 2013-2014 season was great because Ramsey could actually shoot. Since he's lost that ability, it's difficult to see what Ramsey offers to the team.

He didn't help with the build up play at all. We lack Cazorla or Wilshere so extremely much atm.

and how many people will come in and tell you he's too good to sit. hrs the best midfielder we have, blah blah blah

it seems so obvious to me the problem is Ramsey in the center and a little of sanchez right now

Santi is the difference this season.

I think Coquelin--Cazorla could easily have won this.

    like they did last year?

Ramsey was dogshit but Cazorla-Coquelin got dominated in the league game at OT last year. United's midfield is actually better now and their attack has pace.

There's quite clearly a bigger issue when we have a comfortably better squad and yet get comprehensively outplayed and bottle games like this and the one against Chelsea.

All I'm gonna say is this - don't forget that mentality stems from the top down. For 6 or 7 seasons now, they have always finished with 70-something points, regardless of the strength of the squad. It will happen again this season. If they had lost a bunch of games before this one, they would have won against united today. It's the same thing... you can see by the mentality just based off of the fact that the only urgency they showed all game was in the last 5 minutes, trying to get a draw.

One of the worst performances of the modern Arsenal era for me but I'll try keep it rational. Couple of points:

    • Grown men, first team players, are scared to play against Man Utds under 21s, you could see players such as Gabriel and Walcott actually scared to control the ball, pathetic.

    • Let's stand still and always pass back to our defenders while we're losing, lads, that will win us the game.

    • Ramsey and Coquelin were pushing way too high up the pitch while we had the ball, leaving the defense isolated and absolutely no link up play from the back and also expsoing us on the counter. No idea if that was Wengers plan, if it was thats ridiculous.

    • Walcott was horrible but I dont understand why Wenger played such a pace-ridden frontline. With a backline of Blind and Carrick, its fucking obvious they would sit back since theyre so slow. You need players that will take them on rather than looking to get in behind - when theyre so deep theres no space to get into. You could see Welbeck trying and it worked a couple of times. Giroud would have provided some kind of aerial threat and the flick-ons. Campbell for aforementioned direct running rather than Walcott for me.

All in all, shit tactical decisions by Wenger and utter lack of urgency or passion by the players. I gotta get up in 4 hours and stayed up to watch this shit? I tried to stay rational but yelling "make some fucking runs you fucking dildos!" at my TV at 2:30am probably isnt very rational.

If fucking Leicester or Tottenham win the league then Wenger has to resign in the summer. Losing the league in the season where we had the biggest chance we will ever have, is the biggest embarrassment he'll ever get.

Iwobi played like he didn't even know why he was subbed on

Really liked everything Welbeck did. I understand the sub, arsene is very cautious with players that come back from injurys these days.

Our defense looks disorganized without Per.

We also seem to have lost players that run with the ball. Especially Theo you get what you get from theo speed positioning and a decent finisher. But he seems like so much less of a player since he stopped running with the ball. But the same goes for all our players. Kosc and Gabriel seem to be doing the running from the back. Our midfield 2 seem to not be doing that so its left to kosc and gabby. Really missing Cazorla in midfield because of that.

We are consistently the biggest bottlers in Europe. Ramsey and Walcott can get absolutely fucked. I've never been a part of the Wenger Out brigade but I really really hope he doesn't extend his contract. He's done as a top manager. Fuck me I'm gonna punch a wall.

For the first time watching Arsenal, I lost hope going into the final 10 minutes. Everything about this was shameful, some individual performances made me question the ability of our squad overall. Title looks as good as gone: not for the point gap, but for the efforts we're putting in. It may be time for massive renewal of this club.

[–]dvcfooChile Copa America Champs! Arsenal next!

Something about the culture of this team makes top 4 the ceiling. Year in year out same story. If there was ever a season that just demolished our excuses its this one, no top team is on stable footing this season, and Leicester City look favorites when our transfer budget dwarfs theirs. THIS WAS/IS THE SEASON. At this point the mentality of Arsenal is regardless of the players on the other team, if the name of the club they are playing has history they crumble.

The way this season is going, we're not only going to get beaten by Spurs, but they may even possibly win the league. Our underachieving and lazy team can lower their heads in shame if that happens. It's on all of them and I hope it fucking stings.

I feel like with regards to the striker situation Giroud has at least given a shit and tried. Likewise with Welbeck.

Regardless of ability, the two actually try. Walcott on the other hand was so invisible we're gonna have to ask the guys who discovered gravitational waves to build a second machine that can also detect rare Walcott appearances.

The best way I can describe this team is one that suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. We have to be inch perfect and tidy in the opponents box, we have to reset and set up over and over [meaning we pass back to the center backs no matter how far forward we are to reset our position], and we are walking it out from the back.

But the trends must be repeated continuously no matter how much it hurts our overall self. Things do not have to be absolutely perfect, we simply have to get the job done.

    Arsene Wenger is the problem.

The team has changed plenty over the last decade plus yet suffers from the same problems. Build up play horrific, positional play shite, trying to play through good defences leads to about one or two chances all game and such a weak weak mentality.

He made the club great nearly 20 years ago, he was considered a visionary then. His refusal to adapt and evolve has cost this club so much and turned us into a laughing stock. Fans who stand by him after all this time hold us back just as much.

A new manager could be worse but my god it could be so much better. Arsene Wenger is the problem.

Not to be negative nancy but I've been saying it, and downvoted for it. I will always have hope in Arsenal and Wenger, but I know when enough is enough. We are not mentally capable of winning the league and this exemplifies it. We had the quality and stability of players to win this game hands down. Man u is an injury decimated side playing academy players and central midfielders for CB's, and we can't beat them with the title on the line? This is unacceptable for a big club with a manager at the helm for 20 years. No excuses, its time to put up or shut up. We can buy all the players we want, but if an 18 yr old can score 2 goals on his debut against Arsenal, we are mentally weak and the cycle will happen again. Let's play like champions from beginning to end or go home!

I wish the team actually experiences a proper meltdown from this point onward, just so it ensures Wenger's already-untenable position is terminated. A certain marquee player is likely to start looking elsewhere for applying his wizardry services anyway, so I'd like someone fresh to come in and cleanout the deadwood as we should've done over the past few seasons.

Is the Chinese transfer window still open? Wouldn't mind offloading Walcott for a cool 20 mill

I always insisted Ramsey isnt good enough for Arsenal. Back then he does score a lot and people were quick to write me off, but what excuse do you have now? CM role is to stabilise the def and off, helping the DM and AM. Ramsey did neither. He always schemed a pass so that he could receive the end of it in the penalty box, it looks good when its succesful, but its often not. Ramsey isnt needed inside the box anymore because Arsenal play with three striker these days. At least Cazorla contribute massively to Arsenal offense and share the burden of creative influence off Ozil's shoulder. Elneny should've been in for Ramsey, not Coq. Wenger is seriously test my patience if he insist on starting Ramsey when Cazorla is fit. Even Campbell could do better job at CM than Ramsey and Ozil does more defensive duties than him today, not a good sign.

Walcott is 100k a week? If he's on that wages then Ozil should've at least 200k a week. He did nothing positives today though he played at his preferred role.

This game shows why i insisted on playing Mert than Gabriel. Paced doesnt make up for positioning plus Mert is better at starting the attack from the back. Mert does silly mistakes sometimes but who didnt? Its the overall plays that matter.

To play Iwobi instead of Campbell is a big mistake by Wenger, its better Welbeck to stay on the field than him.

I'm a realistic person. I didnt expect Arsenal to win every game, but i demand a commanding performance from Arsenal. I prefer the team to lose by playing well, than to play badly and then lose. Arsenal made Man United looks good, which they didnt, today. What makes me furious even more is the way Schneiderlin doing his duty for United, particularly his works on Ozil and then there's Ramsey. Fuck.

This current team arent going to win the titles if they insist on relying to the likes of Ramsey, Ox and Walcott. You're welcome to save this post and shitting on me later if i'm wrong and i prefer to wrong if it means Arsenal could win titles or there's no way Ozil is going to sign a new contract. He doesnt want to spend his prime age for a team that couldnt be arsed to win domestic league, let alone champions league. He deserved better.

Whose daughter did Joel Campbell lay fucking pipe in that he can't get a minute in the team right now?

Why in the fuck is everyone's first touch so fucking heavy? I feel like we lost so much possession because United pressed on our first touch and took the ball right off us.

Why in the fuck is Walcott starting? His impact for about the past month has been damn near negligible and yet he gets to start up top?

Why in the fuck was Iwobi brought on in this game? He looked every bit like he 's got very little experience in the Premier League and we still had Joel Campbell on the bench. Once again, whose wife/daughter did he absolutely diddle that he's being forgotten?

Why in the fuck was our defense so shit? I mean... really. Gabriel had a shocker and the third goal was absolutely ridiculous with how much space we gave them through the middle.

How was Ramsey left on for 90 fucking minutes while Welbeck was brought off? Yes, I know that Welbeck is fresh off an injury, but this game was a must-win and Ramsey added nothing to our attack at all and gave away possession on numerous occasions.

tWhy is anyone even thinking of laying blame on Ozil for this? IT's not his fault that no one is making good runs or movement off the ball and he had a hand in both our goals? If someone needs some shade thrown in their direction it's Alexis. Dude looked awful and tries way too many times to do everything himself and loses possession.

Wenger got the lineup worng. Defense was shit. Attack was shit. Title race has the same probability as a Champions League trophy at this point.

It's time for us as fans and a team to realise that there is a core problem with Arsenal. It runs much deeper than signing a striker to amend the problem. There is a loser mentality within our team, perpetuated by players such as Walcott, that is encouraged and excused far too much.

If Wenger was still great manager, he would make an example of Theo and take him out between 20th and 30th minute. I was wondering who was playing on the right because he didn't touch the ball for first 35 minutes nor were included in play at all. Like he wasn't on the pitch. Deserves big financial punishment for today's performance.

Get in El Neny and put that Ramsey prick on the right where he belongs. If he's not satisfied with it, take him out at half time and replace him with Campbell who'll change sides with Alexis (who stopped trying long time ago).

As soon I've seen he's taking Coq out I've shouted irl, wrong sub Wenger you bellend. Next moment Ramsey is risking red card. Manager who can't see their player having mental issues during the match is no good manager.
