I am not sure if anyone of this sub has noticed this or not.
The sub has <300,000 subs with about 15,000 - 20,000 users online. Pretty unusual compared to other subs that have millions of subscribers and usually about that many online.
The speed at which content is posted on the sub is unusually high, I am talking about at least 3-5 posts every 10 seconds, it's relentless. The content is duplicated many times and posted by different users within a span of few minutes. Mind you, some of these are memes.
This got me thinking, how is it that such a small sub always manages to get so many up votes so quickly to hit the r/all especially given the alarming rate of posts that get created. So, I lurked around for a bit to see what was going on.
Turns out, they have a bot that automatically stickies the top commented post every hour. Users then simply have to up vote two posts every hour to hit the front page.
But there was again something off with the posts and the number of upvotes. I never saw a single post that had been downvoted during this time. Also, posts would usually rack up about ~4000 - ~6,000 upvotes within 1 - 2 hours.
Given that there are 3,600 second in hour, a post would have to generate roughly ~1.5 upvotes per second if there are 0 downvotes (unless mods can simply turn off downvoting) this number seemed pretty unusual.
In conclusion, there is definitely some vote manipulation going on in that sub either through bots or paid trolls.
