In case it matters, I'd like to preface this with the fact that I am a racial minority and, though I was not a vehement supporter of his, I did vote for Trump in the election.
I used to think that being liberal was a high-minded kind of thing and that conservatives were just wrong and close-minded. In recent years, with the rise of SJWs, my opinion has shifted. With this election, however, I don't think I can ever return to being "liberal". I've seen waves of hatred from Hillary supporters, Lines of accusations and demands that anyone that voted for anyone but the Democratic candidate should never speak to them again. I've never seen such visceral hatred. As I follow our presidential elect, I see comments of gloating and goading his supporters over their supposed idiocy when he acts less extreme than his campaign made him out to be.
The more I see this, the lesser I view liberals. I am sharply aware of this growing spite from exposure to all the rage of the left - I live in California, there's no real escaping it - and am afraid it will ruin any objectivity I still have. I am sure that someday there will again be matters where the left holds the answer and I hope I won't be too wrapped up to acknowledge it.
