I like Thiel, but the transition team is also full of anti-freedom neocons like Gingrich. One of Gingrich's many crazy quotes: "Anybody who goes on a website favoring ISIS, or Al Qaeda, or other terrorist groups, that should be a felony, and they should go to jail."

.

Also, I was promised that Donald Trump would make anime real, but nobody on his transition team seems to have expertise in this important area.

You can't say Thiel is pro-freedom when what he did to Gawker was essentially an attack on press freedom.

Say what you will about Gawker, not discussing pro/against. Thiel literally paid for attorneys for ANYONE that Gawker featured in a negative light. Gawker was a blog.. if the Hogan thing didn't bring it down, the sheer volume of lawsuits would bankrupt it eventually.

A lot of politics is posturing and cultivating electors. I'm not in love with Gingrich but those sort of statements don't really fuss me, nothing will come out of it. Even if they pass a law wow it's nothing will happen

I think you need to elaborate on this because it does not sound like a bad idea at first glance?

Not sure if serious, but, is this what you call a good idea?: "Anybody who goes on a website [...] should go to jail." Glance again!

But its an ISIS website. Its not reddit or twitter.

I can't imagine what could possibly go wrong if we started jailing people for going to an arbitrarily determined set of web sites.

Like, do you think it would always be totally obvious whether a site is a terrorist site or not?

Do you think it's possible this power to jail people might be abused?

If the intelligence agencies have the adequate tools to gather intel and do surveilance, i dont think anyone who didnt deserve it, went to jail. But the surveilance is the tricky part. I mean what do you think would happen if it became illegal to visit ISIS websites?

What does this have to do with bitcoin?

Thiel (paypal founder) also happens to be a bit of a bitcoin head. This will have accelerated implications for money and crypto currencies (what those are remains to be seen)

I wish there was a way to search for news and information around a given set of topics. Some kind of combined repository of human knowledge, searchable at will through terminals all around the world. Perhaps some day somebody will realise this daring vision.
