KING, N.C. -- Charges have been filed after a veteran holding an anti-Trump sign was hit by a vehicle Tuesday, according to a news release from the King Police Department.
Ronald Edward Shouse, 68, of Pfafftown, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and careless and reckless driving.
Steven Hewett said he was standing outside the American Legion in King on Election Day with a sign reading “Veterans Against Trump.”
Four members of the Legion Color Guard drove past him and one of the trucks sped up, hit him and then left the scene, according to Hewett.
Hewett captured video footage of the incident, a portion of which can be seen above.
Hewett was not injured and declined medical treatment.
Shouse is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 3, 2017.
