Ringerike has a lot to offer: free healthcare and schools, reasonable priced housing, wide cultural scene, high tolerance for religious beliefs and sexual orientation, stunning nature, clean air and fresh water. All are equal; women’s rights are advanced, and our current female head of state is not our first.
The Norwegian society is transparent and well organized. We believe our highly developed welfare state is the best. Not only are we among the richest countries in the world, but the United Nation’s Human Development Index has ranked us the world’s best country to live in — 12 years in a row. That’s facts.
The Ringerike Recovery Program was developed by our region’s three mayors; Kjell, Lars and Per. The initiative was built on a sincere wish to help our family and friends in America by offering a tailored recovery program to make the emigration easier. We are proud of what we can offer our new neighbors and colleagues – have a look at our initial program:
Mayor Lars organizes the volunteers in our district, and makes sure the different initiatives among the residents are coordinated. An example is the local knitting project Knit for America, where eager knitters from our region come together to knit headbands for our cousins overseas.
Mayor Kjell and his fellow colleagues will help all newcomers to find a residence and a job in the region. Within the KJELLP section there are several services to choose from. What the services have in common, is that they’re free of charge.
Mayor Per is very proud to front our local, renowned hospital Ringerike sykehus. Several highly skilled employees at the hospital have revitalized the way we offer health care around here. We call it Per Care – and Per Care is of course free of charge.
We know it’s a big step, but we will do our best to help you on your journey. The Ringerike Recovery Program is under development to ensure your safety. Updates and more information will follow. Neither we nor the world have had much time to prepare for the four years ahead of us. Subscribe to our newsletter, or contact us to learn more.
Absolutely! We have extended invitations to Miley Cyrus, Bryan Cranston, Cher, Samuel L. Jackson and Jon Stewart to name a few. Who knows — maybe you’ll be neighbors in Ringerike?
Bunad is a traditional Norwegian costume worn by both men and women during special occations like our 17th of May, our national day. Fårikål, our national dish is made from two main ingredients; cabbage and lamb. Rakfisk is fermented trout with a variety of side ingredients. It’s usually served with a few glasses of Aquavit.
ÆØÅ are extra three vowels at the end of our huge alphabet. Æ makes the same sound as the A in BAD. Ø sounds similar to the U in BURN, while our final letter Å is like the O in MORE.
Our regional growth goes hand in hand with new residential areas and places to work. Many Americans have a Norwegian heritage, maybe you’ll find family to stay with? We will provide further guidance and support through our Kjellp-program in the near future.
