I'm pretty scared right now. What do we do? Where do we go from here? How do we press forward?

Hugs for everyone who tried to stop it from happening but were thwarted by the Electoral College.

Hugs for everyone who is afraid. I don't know where we go from here, but I do know this: you're not alone. We're in this together and we will get through this, somehow.

We go forward I know it sucks but we will get thru it together. Our country has gone through the Civil War, The Great Depression, the Civil Rights Struggle in the 60's and 70's. We'll preserve, we always do.

It's november in Edmonton, Canada and it is in the plus teens during the day and now Donald Trump is president of the USA.

My anxiety is at an all time high.

I am just so furious. Once again, we'll be the ones expected to work together, make compromises and be expected to understand the motivations of those poor racist white guys.

I'm not going to do it. You can't build bridges with people who only want to burn them. Racism and misogyny are not valid political viewpoints. It's cold comfort but most of those people are going to get double fucked by the alt right administration.

My plan is to give to organizations that don't run the risk of benefitting them in any way. It sucks: I used to give lots on random acts of subs, where many posts are from red states, but guess what? Planned parenthood needs me more. Ask your own for help with your issues, ass holes.

I can't feel love or sympathy to those people any more.

  Hopefully, that won't be the case. What we could see (could, mind, not will), is the progressives in the Senate, like Warren and Sanders, building up a much bigger national audience and playing pure obstructionism. Do exactly what the GOP did between 2006-2008.

    This is the issue I'm struggling with. I veer between following a hero's advice to "go high" but when has that ever fucking worked long- term in America? MLK? Why yes. Because white people totally believe black lives matter now. Oh wait, they don't but have a bridge named after him.
    
    As for political action by politicians: nothing can happen without a majority. And now politicians know that being pure scum gets you elected.
    
    Any inclination I have to reach out and help is tempered by the fact it would mostly assist the dumb fuck electors. The same ones who reset us in terms of progress 50 years. The same ones who have the attitude of "I got mine" until they need help, at which point they blame minorities.
    
    Jesus. Anyone know of a good hippy commune I can join?

    This election has left Sanders with a pretty powerful voice in national politics (especially Democratic politics, even though he isn't actually a party member).
    
    Ideally, this'll lead to a reckoning for the Democratic establishment, and we'll get a party that actually has a fucking backbone out of it.
    
    I'm not holding my breath, though.

I don't know what happens next. All I know is that it'll be very, very interesting.
