Sad to see the end up of them! I suppose now it gives me time to go read all of them though; I regret not giving them as much attention as I should've. You never appreciate something until it's gone. I suppose I'll have to get back into making concepts to fill a bit of the void (I've done, what, like six, and think half of them suck? You've done two hundred! It's almost hard to fathom). Will your other activity on the subreddit also diminish? You've been one of the singular most active and unique members on this subreddit for a long while, would be weird seeing you a lot less.

But of course, I can't come into one of these threads and not talk about the concept itself. I really love the passive. So much all or nothing potential. But I think he'd be better as a carry. I mean, yeah, he's bloody Achilles, the ultimate warrior, but Ares and Susano also got off as non-warriors, so he could as well. I'm not saying the passive doesn't work on a warrior, but I think it'd work so much better on an assassin. Just picture that passive on a carry, especially combined with all the movement speed... does the ult and three stack in that regard?

Does his one take him to the god he hit? Would make sense. Having so much mobility fits the kill them before you're dead mentality of his passive. If they can't catch you, they can't kill you. The damage reflect also fits him, being the ultimate warrior and all.

Overall, I really like this kit. Certainly better than the recent Rat rework. Why? This has a direction. It has the snowball. The all or nothing. The I'm gonna wipe your team or die doing. Which is precisely why I think he should be an assassin. The riskiest assassin ever put in the game. It'd round of that theme and direction of his kit perfectly.

Most Lokis would ult, basic attack with his one and/or three active, and then Achilles passive activates. Achilles now has double power and Loki no longer has a kit to use. Now, SMART Lokis would attack him first to activate his passive and then attack in earnest, but most probably wouldn't.

His passive should reflect his prowess in battle, his unrelenting anger and rage that built as he battled. Here's an idea that incorporates his strengths and weaknesses.

Passive: Fire and Fury

Achilles' rage and fury builds over time. (Similar to Bellona's building of stacks for auto attacks). For each enemy minion or God damaged by Achilles, he gains a stack of Fire. Each stack of fire provides +2 physical power and defense, as well as +2% movement speed and attack speed. All stacks of fire expire after 5 seconds of Achilles not damaging an enemy. Maximum 10 stacks of fire. Each God killed by Achilles grants him +1 stack of fury which lasts for 10 seconds, during which time, Achilles has +20% movement speed, +20 physical and magical defense and +40 physical power. Also, Achilles builds stacks of fire at twice the rate and they will not expire so long as he has a stack of fury.

Achilles was a mighty warrior indeed, but he was not without his flaws. His heel was his downfall then, as it is now. If Achilles is struck from behind (ability or auto attack), he loses 7 stacks of fire. If he has stacks of fury, he loses one instead, before losing stacks of fire. If Achilles loses all stacks of fire and fury, and he is struck from behind, he dies immediately.

Just kidding, he suffers a 0.9x movement speed and attack speed debuff until he gains a stack of fire or fury. Of course, being struck from behind will reset the 10 second counter for his next stack of fire being added.

To be honest, the ability design is fine, but I'm not too keen on this from a lore perspective...

The abilities are nicely varied, and that makes a hero interesting, but while I see an effort to weave in elements of Achilles' legend, it's done, just a little strangely. For example, making his heel a strength? It acknowledges that you know about Achilles, but exploits that information clumsily. To be clear, it's not that I don't like what you've done, I just feel more could be done to make the hero feel like Achilles.

Achilles' heel was just that, his one weakness, and while it's not explicitly stated in the Iliad, it's generally agreed that his heel was responsible for his death at the hands of Paris. His strengths were his own and independent of his heel, immortality aside, the man was acclaimed as Agamemnon's greatest warrior. His Myrmidons were the creme of their army, and while he was arrogant, he was the hero of the Greeks.

I just feel like, design wise it's an interesting character you've built, but it doesn't FEEL like Achilles, just generic fighty dude 2.0.

I think a huge step in the right direction would be to alter the passive, maybe make it block CC once every so often to reflect his immortality and not imply that his heel or indeed immortality made him fight better. Honestly though, I'd change the passive entirely, make the passive about Achilles' warrior spirit, and his natural ability to fight, and instead focus the ultimate on his immortality, and give him CC and damage immunity unless struck from behind with the ultimate. Or maybe introduce his Myrmidons somewhere there?

Design the character around the legend, don't weave the legend onto the bones of a generic warrior.

  • Achilles was dipped into the river Styx by his mother which made him invulnerable everywhere but at his heel, the place where his mother held him. Achilles takes decreased damage from all sources unless it is dealt to his back.

    Damage Reduction: 10%

Ability I - Spear Thrust (Shield Knock)

  • Spear Thrust: Achilles thrusts his spear forward, penetrating and dealing damage to everyone in a line.
    Shield Knock: Achilles bashes everyone infront of him with his shield, knocking them back and stunning them for a short duration.
    Ability Type: Line (Cone)
    Range: 45 (20)
    Cost: 65/75/85/95/105 mana
    Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 seconds
    Damage: Spear Thrust 90/145/200/255/310 (+90% of your Physical power)
    Damage: Shield Knock 70/110/150/190/230 (+30% of your Physical power)
    Knock back range: Shield Knock 10 units
    Stun Duration: Shield Knock 1 second

Ability II - Hold the Line (Irregular Combat)

  • Hold the Line: Achilles takes cover behind his legendary shield crafted by Hephaestus, in a defensive stance and becomes an unrelenting obstacle. While using Hold the Line Achilles is immune to knockbacks, knockups and pulls, his Passive is increased and his hitbox grows to twice as wide allowing him to body block more effectively but become easier to hit. Additionally he gains a movement speed penalty due to his form. This is a toggle ability that remains active until used again or Achilles uses any other abilities with the exception of Spear Thrust. The cooldown starts once Hold the Line is deactived.
    Irregular Combat: Achilles as a great warrior can break away from the usual tactics of combat if necessary. He drops his shield to gain agility and additional combat prowess with his short sword at the expense of defense. When this ability is actived Achilles is cleansed of Movement and Attack Speed debuffs. His Attack Speed increases and his Basic Attacks deal additional damage in a cone. The ability immediately ends when Achilles switches stance. Achilles cannot use Shield Knock while Irregular Combat is active.
    Ability Type: Buff
    Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana
    Cooldown: 18 seconds
    Duration: Irregular Combat 5 seconds
    Damage Reduction: Hold the Line 2/4/6/8/10%
    Movement Speed Penalty: Hold the Line 50%

    Damage per Attack: Irregular Combat 30/40/50/60/70 (+20% of your Physical Power)

Ability III - Greek Warfare

  • Achilles is an excellent warrior, a master of the greek warfare. He wields the signature armory of the greek warriors: a short sword, a spear and a large round shield, switching between their usage as needed.
    Upon activating this ability Achilles switches between his main weapons of Spear and Short Sword. This changes the effect of his abilities, giving him different basic attack progression and range, and applying different passive benefits. Switching Stance also cleanses him of Disarm.
    Ability Type: Buff
    Cost: 0 mana
    Cooldown: 1 second
    Spear: Penetration 5/10/15/20/25
    Sword: Movement Speed 3/6/9/12/15%

Ultimate - Fate Defying Rage

  • Enraged over the death of his beloved companions, Achilles defies fate itself and sets out to destroy all of his enemies in a reckless rampage.
    When this ability is used Achilles gains Crowd Control immunity, increased Power and increased Attack Speed for each dead allied God but loses some Protections for the duration. This ability can be actived under any circumstances and cleanses all debuffs and CC upon usage. The buffs are based on the number of dead allied Gods at the moment of the activation of this ability. Achilles cannot use Hold the Line while the ultimate is active.
    Ability Type: Buff
    Cost: 100 mana
    Duration: 6 seconds
    Cooldown: 100 seconds
    Physical Power: 5/10/15/20/25 per dead allied God
    Attack Speed: 2/4/6/8/10% per dead allied God
    Protections Lost: 10/20/30/40/50

The concept is really great, but just like Hi-rez you have some big balance problem on this one :D Some abilities give way too big advantages (eg. Armor of the Gods). I like the idea about his passive but the dmg boost would be either too big or he'd get one shot :p
