Why Hillary Lost (self.EnoughTrumpSpam)

I feel like the media hasn't quite put together the pieces as to why Hillary lost despite having such a repugnant and unqualified opponent. This is what it looks like to me. What do you guys think?

There were several groups at play during the election who all shared a common self-interest: the smearing of Hillary Clinton. Their combined efforts, even when not explicitly coordinated, resulted in the largest and most successful disinformation campaign in US political history.

Trolls, White Nationalists and other alt-right groups, traditional right-wing groups, Bernie Sanders supporters, the Russian govt, and internet clickbait sites all had a self-interest in making Clinton look bad and either purposely or unwittingly shared hoaxes, rumors, conspiracy theories, and fake news stories about how evil and corrupt Clinton was. The fact that a real FBI investigation was occurring, despite it being about a relatively tame issue, gave an air of legitimacy to the more serious, though fake allegations.

This generated a whole new group of people who were fervently pro-Trump and anti-Clinton just because of this propaganda alone. Then they too began sharing the disinformation, thinking it was real, and this created a vicious cycle that spread and spread. Meanwhile, as a centrist, Clinton doesn't have as passionate of a base as someone on the far left or right would have, and there was not a strong enough force pushing back on the false information.

So at the end of the day, despite all the real things that were bad about Trump, an uninformed electorate was duped into believing that Clinton was "just as bad" or "worse".

She is not dirty enough, she is not lying enough. Why didnt she just say she never used private server? What can FBI do? DOJ is in her pocket am i right? Why did she admit her past mistakes? Should blame all that on Bush and GOP! Why is she having all these alt right sites rolling out propaganda against her? She should just offer to buy them off, otherwise just send hitmen. Why didnt she make a deal witht the Devil? Just promise to sacrifice all the aborted babies.

I don't think anyone will know exactly why Hillary lost...maybe ever. I'm just a schmuck on the internet, but here's my take:

  1. Clinton never properly addressed the e-mails. Comey fucked her over big time, but it was still treated as a scandal well before that letter, and I don't think the letter alone caused her to lose the election. Dealing with scandals is part of a campaign, and Clinton's team bungled that big-time.

  2. Hubris or arrogance on the part of the DNC or Clinton campaign. In hindsight, campaigning in and spending resources on Georgia and Arizona was a terrible move when your entire election strategy depends on three states with large white rural populations that are very receptive to Trump's message. Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania. If she wins those 3, she wins the presidency. Instead the "blue firewall" turned out to be made of wet tissue paper because they didn't spend enough resources on states they considered "safe." Attempting to run up the score was a terrible plan, and diverting resources to Senate candidates that didn't win either clearly didn't help.

  3. Clinton failed to tap into the populist wave that was visible as early as Bernie Sanders. She should have been railing against Trump as a billionaire who fucked over his employees, made his empire in China, and was an all-around scumbag. Even if you think he's a racist and a sexist and all that, it clearly didn't work on the electorate that she needed to win.

  4. The vaunted ground game advantage for Clinton accomplished jack shit. Trump won the election despite getting fewer votes than Mitt Romney, which speaks to bad turnout, especially in the areas that Clinton needed to win.

The good news is is that this is all totally fixable by 2020. Purge the DNC and put someone capable but unknown in charge to eliminate any faint trace of corruption. Fight like hell even in the "safe" states to make sure Trump can't pick off blue strongholds next time around. Get a candidate who can rail against Trump as the establishment and present themselves as an agent of change. Finally, rebuild the ground game and GOTV so it actually accomplishes what it was supposed to do in the areas that it was supposed to do it.

Hillary lost because she has been proven to be untrustworthy. She created a campaign insulting half of Americans. She called potential voters deplorable when they did not align with all her view points.

The "smear campaign" is not really relevant, everyone knew what Hillary was about before she ran for office. Sure, her dirty laundry was aired out, but so was everyone's.

She lost, to be simply put, because she thought she was above everyone else and lashed out at citizens when viewpoints didn't match. She lost it for herself.

She created a campaign insulting half of Americans.

As opposed to all non-white Americans. Insulting people based on their terrible viewpoints is not even close to being equivalent to insulting people based on their race or sexuality or what-have-you.

Anyone who did not vote for Trump, including Hillary, is above anyone who did.

So by that logic, she has more experience being a political shit head. Out of either, I'd take the one who does not have political favors to create/change laws with congress. Basically we got 4 years of no more war escalation and political tomfoolery.

I remember when bush was elected very clearly. It was nothing like this. When bush was elected, I never felt like this was a horrible country. That is no longer the case. America is in fact a bad bad place. A place where I don't feel comfortable raising my kids.

I've talked to a bunch of people, and I have no doubt in my mind that this win boils down to racism. They won't say it, because they're still afraid to be honest, but it is obvious dark people scare the shit of white people.

The biggest? No, a large liar sure. But lying is the full extent of being untrustworthy.

As opposed to all non-white Americans. Insulting people based on their terrible viewpoints is not even close to being equivalent to insulting people based on their race or sexuality or what-have-you.

If you insult the largest group of people in the country you're going to have larger ramifications.

Anyone who did not vote for Trump, including Hillary, is above anyone who did.
