No seriously.
If you're a minority, LBGT, or practice anything other than Catholicism or fundamental Christianity (or a combination of all of the above), it behooves you to strongly consider moving to a Democratic state.
I was rather aggravated with this election result, but once I slept on it I realized, "Hey idiot, you live in a Liberal fortress of a state". So really nothing changes for us, besides obviously the Geopolitical outlook and in general the economy, but that could've gone either which way.
New York, Massachusetts, California, Colorado, a lot of the Northeast (although NH and PA are on the shit list) are all predominantly Democratic / Liberal, and if Republicans are to be believed (I know, hard to fathom) moving to these states should keep you under the protection of strong progressive state laws, with which the Republicans don't mess with because to them States Rights / Prerogatives > Feds.
I know it isn't particularly easy, but I think it goes without saying the quality of life is about to get a whole lot shittier for those in deep red states, minorities, LGBT folks, and practitioners of non Jesus oriented religions.
So yeah, it's not quite Canada, but you're sure to have a better time weathering the next four years of a fat orange meme.
Cheers.
