Wellsville softball field dugout marked with swastika, graffiti

WELLSVILLE — A man walking his dog today in Island Park said he could see the graffiti on the Quackenbush Field 1 dugout from across the river.

Someone painted a swastika along with the words “MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN” on the dugout wall. The person who saw it this morning contacted The Daily Reporter, but did not leave a name.

Wellsville Village Police Chief Tim O'Grady said the department hadn't taken any complaints about the graffiti. He said police would check it out today. O'Grady said the field at which this happened is privately owned.

“We'll take a look at it, we might do a log entry. Unless somebody makes a complaint, we don't have any cause for action,” he said. “It's vandalism, we'll look into it. I don't know what the (surveillance) camera situation is on the other side of the river.”
