I tried asking in /r/NoStupidQuestions with no answer. I've no backup in terms of family support etc. and freelance for a living - all my money is liquid and I rely on exchange rates etc. --- are there protections in place to ensure I don't wake up tomorrow with the dollar being in complete shit against other currencies?

Sorry, I'm kind of freaking out since I rely heavily on exchange rates not rocking the boat too much. I tried googling for hours but can't make sense of the complexities. If there are no protections - is there anything I can do to make sure my life savings aren't gone tomorrow? (I'm currently also pretty sick and spending a lot of what I have on meds/doctors etc. where I live so it's also a life/death thing for me personally)
