How about instead we talk about what a fun game Titanfall 2 is? The game is already getting great reviews, so let's keep the positivity going.

People have been talking about it plenty

Yea I hear praise for the game on this sub and others constantly. Maybe if it came out earlier and let the hype build for it, I would have bought it. By the time I looked into it, I had already bought BF1. I barely have enough time to play this, there is no way I can just go out and buy TiF2 now.

I ended up getting both and switch between both depending how I feel. Yesterday I was in the quick paced titanfall 2 mood while during the weekend I was playing bf1. Of course if you have the funds that's another issue altogether but it does feel nice to be able to choose between both

I live in a box and my last meal was a bowl of ramen 2 weeks ago.

Ramen? Wow look at mr. moneybags over here who can eat like a king

he even has a bowl. Fucking 1%.

You guys know what bowls are? Goddamn spoiled Ivy League elitists.

I'd like to inquire about your box...

I'm his tenant, Boxes O'plenty. Looking to get yourself a box today? I'll even thrown in slightly soaked newspaper.

Same here. Because of my work hours I can't always play bf1 with friends, so that's when I play TF2

Same thing happened to rise of tomb raider last year. It got lost coming a week after fallout. But sales picked up around Christmas and after.

Picked up the game on PS4. Fuckin awesome game.

Going out of MS exclusivity and also releasing to PS4 did it good

That's the sad part I think a lot of people already have. You bought BF1, so why do you need ANOTHER fps (even if it's different). Not to mention they are expensive, and then for those who love COD, it's right around the corner. Wish EA didn't want to screw titanfall so hard.

For the same reason we needed Q3A and UT99 at the same time: it's freakin awesome.

If they had released it in late September, I would probably be playing it now. I like BF1 it's fun and satisfies my fps kick, but I wish I at least had the chance to see titanfall

No, we need to bring CoD into this and hate on it as much as we can for maximum karma awareness.

Did I hear CoD? Time to hate and ignore the opinions of other people who might actually like the game!

[–]Cresent_dragonwagon 17ポイント18ポイント  (6子コメント)

All 7 of them?

All 7 of em on Reddit, and those 2 or 3 poor guys who bought it on the Windows Store but still like it.

I mistakenly bought battlefield 1. Couldn't decide between them. Really wish I'd got titanfall.

Are you not enjoying BF1? It looks pretty sweet to me.

BF1 is fantastic. Sounds like a "grass is greener" thing to say you wish you had bought something else.

Honestly its just an other BF game, nothing new or ground braking, at least TF2 brings something new.

Not really... Just another future shooter. Even if it is likely the best on the market. That's coming from someone who really enjoys titanfall.

I'm with this guy. It's the BF we (friends and I) have played the least.

It's also pretty sparse with content right now, play 15 matches and you've played them all

I really like bf1 and i dont regret it at all, i have just become kinda sick of the future jetpack games

Yeah I can understand but I've not played any of them. And titanfall sounds like it's probably the best.

the positive reviews all around made me think about getting it, as my first origin game ever. lets see how this turns out.

I generally can't afford games until a year or so after release which really sucks when we're talking about heavily multi-player based games. :(

Talk doesn't pay the bills or influence publishers and shareholders. Speak with your wallet (and your mouth).

There is free DLC and NO micro-transactions. It's amazing.

But what if I want to throw money at the screen?

I can link you my paypal if you really wanna waste some money.

But I want to invest in a digital gun lottery!

If you give me $2, I might give you a digital gun.

Sounds good to me, Activision!

I might give you a digital gun emblem instead due to "high demand". This issue can be corrected for $30

Will it be included in the Collector's Edition if I pre-order?

Nope, only if you buy the Hardcore Collector's Edition which comes with a (possibly) well-made half-scale statue of the in-game Pelicans completely original dropships for all of your life savings.

No, since the Collector's Edition has the Season Pass, and all players need to be able to buy it at the same time, so it will not be included.

(I'm kinda pushing into Ubisoft territory now)

do collectors editions still come with season passes anymore :P

You are more than welcome to come over to my place and play it then.

Have they confirmed there is no such DLC / Micro's in the future?

It's EA. I want that shit scrawled in blood at the end of some sort of contract.

They have confirmed this. As well, Respawn Entertainment owns the Titanfall IP so while EA has some control, they do not completely own Respawn/Titanfall.

I'm curious to see what's added. I'd welcome more maps as an obvious addition but curious to see if it's anything meaningful. Be neat to have rush mode copied from Battlefield or an objective mode like it. Game already has too many modes splitting people up though.

So what made Respawn change their mind from the first Titanfall where I bought their DLC maps? I don't think it was a waste of money since the maps were pretty decent but I'm curious why they've decided to go all free DLC now.

My opinion is that they just want market share and a fan base for a relatively new franchise. They know what they're up against and charging $60 less than the competition can only help them.

Respawn have said that the map and modes DLC stuff they did with Titanfall 1 essentially fractured the player base (ie players with a different combination fo DLC couldn't queue with others) which sped up the multiplayer pool dying. It's why they eventually gave Titanfall 1's DLC to everyone free to try and save it.

They stated specifically because they did not want to split the player base. I'm also guessing it has something to do with them trying to set higher standards than the rest of the gaming industry.

[–]ask_why_im_angry 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

No they havent. They actually said there will be something to keep the post launch going because they still need money to do it but they don't know what yet.

They shouldn't have released it after BF1 and before COD. Like everyone else, fans can only spend their money once, which most likely will go to their preferred / known franchise.

Exactly my case. Bought BF1 (worth it sooooo worth it), but now I can't get Titanfall 2 despite really wanting to help these guys.

I:

  • Bought TiF2
  • Played through the campaign
  • Ordered the standalone Vanguard Edition
  • Am playing through the campaign again (almost done)
  • Will be joining/getting murdered by the rest of you guys in multiplayer
  • Will be playing through the campaign at least a couple more times

IS THAT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, OP?!?? :P

Wait there's a campaign? That's what made me so angry about the first one....

Not only is there a campaign, it's not tacked-on shit either! It's actually good! One level in particular borders on legendary. As in Silent Cartographer or We Don't Go To Ravenholm kinda good.

Damn, you can't name drop those levels and not get me interested. Might have to check it out!

It's well worth the price. Absolutely everything that should be in a AAA shooter.

Which level? Can you describe it?

[–]amalgam_reynolds 3ポイント4ポイント  (3子コメント)

It's called Effect and Cause and it's where you figure out one of the enemy's big secrets through an interesting time-break mechanic. Makes combat really hectic but you still feel mostly in control of the chaos.

Theres so many moments tho.. That first throw, the thumbs up, the time mechanic you mentioned, the smart pistol. Man everything about this campaign was perfect

That level design is amazing.

That level reminded me of Singularity. Different mechanic, but same concept.

The only problem with the campaign is that it starts really slow and generic. After the VR sim stuff, which was good, we go through yet another tutorial-ish scenario where you're just doing lots and lots of running and fetch-questing. It really only takes off when you get into your titan proper.

You'll get through it in a few hours, and the plot is nothing to write home about. But dat level design doe. I've not played a campaign that was a better showcase for game mechanics than this one. They made excellent use of the movement system and the titans, and tossed in a few campaign-specific goodies that make for a hell of a time.

My favorite thing though is that it encourages you to stay mobile and play the game like you would against real people. Too many shooter campaigns encourage you to stand behind something and mow down a room full of dudes then move to the next thing to stand behind. This one had me bouncing all over the damn place, slide-kicking and face-stomping my way to victory. Serves as an excellent primer to online play.

On the whole, I highly recommend this one. They fixed all the issues I had with the first and have delivered a truly pleasurable gaming experience. I haven't been this happy with a shooter since UT2004

Support Titanfall if you like the game. Don't support it if you don't like it.

Pretty much. I mean it'd be great if everyone just had money lying around to support good devs that do good shit regardless of their actual gaming preferences, but that's not the case. CD Projekt seems like a true bro in terms of community support and quality, but I just can't stand the Witcher games.

how about just buy it because you think its fun?

Yeah but I only know what's fun because the ads tell me.

Dude, you flubbed the title.

Support Titanfall 2 TODAY for a better gaming world TOMORROW

cahhhmon

To be fair, the COD devs work plenty hard. In fact, the entire industry often pulls 60-80 hour work weeks. It's pretty fucked.

Only during crunch time, yo.

It's always crunch time.

crunch time is quite often sadly , and nobody should be pulling 20-40 hours overtime which is often even unpaid

My favorite is, they have you work free overtime, promise its value back to you in paid vacation when the project finished, then lay you off so they don't have to. Or at least that's how its gone in my personal experience with EA studios.

I work in and have many friends in the industry. Crunch time is "quite often" typically only in shit dev houses.

yeah i have worked in the industry but left for exactly that shit. gaming and game development is fun but the stuff that a lot of AAA companies are pulling just wasnt for me. its not working its closer to slavery in some cases

Same, 9 months and I was done. I'm teaching now and it's super chill. I get to do 3D work and I don't have to deal with shitty hours. It's fantastic.

would love to do that too, atm im doing retail management but soon switching to teaching as well, languages though^

some ex coworkers of mine also went to teach 3d art in Unis. seems to be the trend lately. its either Indie self employment and "try your luck" or teach so your knowledge is not completely useless

Yeah, Teaching is great. Making a ton of connections. The eventual plan is to start an indie studio so knowing all the talented kids in the area is a plus haha

Yup! Yet with all these DLC packs, preorder packs, price hikes, are those poor bastards making any money? Sadly not really. I'd never work in games. They really should unionize cuz when a game like GTA 5 makes half a billion dollars, the dev teams should be making bank too.

Some devs don't suck, I've heard Gearbox is pretty good about profit sharing. They all crunch hard as fuck though. And luckily a lot of devs are trying to unionize now!

I've been thinking about getting it, but I got so incredibly bored with the first game very fast. What makes this one better?

It's complicated.

There are more pilot weapons, which is nice, and a greater variety that doesn't lend any one weapon a feeling of superiority. In T|1 you would never see a Hemlock, and 90% of players ran the Carbine. It's more balanced in that sense.

There are also more and better weapon variations, with choices between secondaries and anti-titan weapons.

More tactical abilities that lend themselves to better game-sense and movement, which is nice.

A ridiculous number of cosmetics, skins, etc.

Burn cards are gone, replaced by pre-loaded boosts.

Way more titans, with locked weapons according to chassis. I actually like this as it balances the titans more according to roles and playstyles. However, you can customize their abilities, which still allows for individuality.

Map design is somewhat limited, but T|1 was the same on release. The maps aren't as vertical, and movement isn't as intuitive, in my opinion. That's the weakest part for me.

Titan health is no longer bolstered by regenerating shields, but there are titan "health packs" throughout the battlefield in the form of batteries, which you also pull out when rodeoing an enemy.

The game modes are fun, with fewer lists than T|1. They're innovating and well done.

The campaign is fantastic.

Movement is still top-notch.

I highly recommend the game. It's definitely worth $60.

These beggy posts don't really help the game or it's fan-base

i agree. I love titanfall 2 and think its a great game but im starting to get sick of these posts... During the launch day i was fine with it but its like everyday theres a new fucking thread begging people to buy Titanfall 2.

I feel at this point its just sad considering the state of the game is not that bad as some of these begging posts are making it seem. I can log on at any time during the day and get a match within seconds...

I want to, but I don't like "you are dead within 1.6 seconds against anyone" gameplay and hate origin.

Yes, that means I haven't gotten Battlefield 1 or Infinite Warfare either.

Sounds like you have more of a problem with fast paced FPSs in general rather than TF2.

Yes. I prefer games where the majority of abilities don't kill instantly/within two seconds and most of the time you actually have some chance to respond to/counteract the attack.

Also when I say TF2, I still mean this game.

Haha, ya, two seconds is rather generous for most FPSs now a days. Even the slow TTK games have a time to kill of about one second.

Imo Overwatch has probably the slowest TTK of FPS's i know.

The only problem that comes up with a slow TTK is that your enemies, too, have more time to escape.

Slower TTK works like sword fighting/dueling.

Fast TTK = reflex and first sight wins.

Have you tried Paragon? Great free game in open beta currently. Very much a moba but 3rd person and made by Epic Games.

Definitely, if he wants a slow game, Paragon is a good choice.

Try battleborn. ttk is about 4~5 seconds if you are completely oblivious to your surrounding and eating all the damage. Depending on what character you are playing, everybody has an option to react, defend or escape. Its also on sale for $10 in some places.

you may like RS:Siege, slow paced, tactical attack and defend Gameplay with various different operators with cool skills.

Siege has an incredibly low TTK, though. Slow-paced though it may be. It's poor net code exacerbates the problem, too, resulting in deaths where there is literally nothing you could have done because your opponent killed you before the servers could even register that he was within your LOS.

[–]PM_ME_YOUR_CLIT_LADY 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

I like fast paced FPS. Fuck Origin, never again.

I bought the game and enjoyed the story line, but the multiplayer portion is just not the kind of FPS I am interested in. BF1 was just a better experience when it comes to multiplayer action.

I'm more excited for the campaign than the multiplayer, but don't think that's worth $60.

I bought the game figuring pretty much I would enjoy the campaign and was very stand-offish about the multiplayer. I haven't really played an FPS for a long period of time since playing Halo 3 with my high school buddies. After beating the campaign in a few hours and wanting more, I hopped in multiplayer and ended up playing for probably 8+ hours this Sunday. The experience is almost even better in multiplayer, even when you are getting curb stomped by people who are just waaay better.

The campaign is definitely not worth 60ish on its own (unless 60 is just not a big deal too you that cali SV money or something), it was pretty great, wish it was a bit closer to a 10-12 hour campaign instead of 5. However, I ended up getting way more out of multiplayer than I ever expected.

The campaign was awesome, but the fact that I was able to complete it so fast, despite having a fulltime job and not getting a ton of time to play was a little off putting. I'd love if part of this free DLC dives into more single player content, or even adds a co-op campaign.

[–]Maximus_Decimus92 3ポイント4ポイント  (0子コメント)

If there was some kind of horde mode, I'd be more inclined to buy it now. TF1 had one in a free update. Not sure how many months after launch that was.

I dont see substantial single player stuff dropping in a free update.

I reckon all the DLC will be Multiplayer focused.

I bought the game and actually don't like it... So my money is then doubly down the drain...

I'd love to buy the game, but I also kinda love eating.

I bought and played the shit out of it. It's a great game but it's not looking good. Word is that sales are lower than Titanfall 1 so far.

The "buyer's confirmation" via forced empathy is getting downright cringeworthy. Please stop.

Congratulations, you hated on CoD! Please accept your 384923874238498329483243269846329846328 upvotes!

I want to!

...but my rig won't allow me to.

Tfw you have exactly the recommended specs apart from ram, which is at least the minimum so it's chilled.

I might come to this game soon, but I need a break from FPS for a little while. I'm burnt out playing Overwatch and BF1 too much, plus final fantasy will probably take up most of my time soon enough.

I personally don't play multiplayer games that much and I'm a patientgamer. I'd rather not give money for a 60 dollar game to EA or Activision. Companies like bethesda, cd project red, or nintendo are the ones I buy from because they make fun singleplayer games and still make dlc that is done right. Also indie games are much more fun, like right now Owlboy was released and is great.

Lost myself in this game last night for like 4 hours. First time in awhile that a had to force myself to go to bed. The only things I kind of dont like are possibly balance related. 1 shot shitguns are stupid as fuck. SMGs have better range and damage than a Assault Rifle. TTK can be low but its not horrible. The lengths of the games are just right or I am just having so much fun I dont really notice. Its worth the purchase and you can get it on GMG for like $48.

As a newcomer to the Titan Fall series, I am SO happy I went with this game. Was cautious, and my money was well spent.

Get into the game and keep the game going then! Let's go! To attrition! To LTS!

I'd buy the shit out of Titanfall 2 if I wasn't dead broke.

I would... but it's not on steam, origin only. Instant lost sale.

They kinda dug their own grave by releasing it next to Battlefield and COD. Whether or not those franchises are "good" anymore isn't relevant when they've been solidified as mainstay shooters and have a huge fan base.

With that being said, I haven't bought any of these three games, but I plan on buying Titanfall 2 once I get paid, along with Dishonored 2.

Love this game, love the Respawn team, love for free DLC

And anyone wants a realistic modern settings, cant recommend Rainbow 6:Siege enough. 5v5 attack/defend game, all DLC is free, constant updatesl, Devs always communicating and theres another big update coming soon.

A different view: In general, supporting AAA gaming, including Titanfall 2, is the opposite of asking for better gaming tomorrow. All they do is release the same thing over and over that we've played hundreds of times. TitanFall 2 is barely different from the first game. If you want better gaming, give your money to developers who actually make new things, like the indies(and the rare AAA). I'm not telling you not to buy the game, but don't expect that you'll change gaming if you support an AAA dev instead of another AAA dev. As for the free map thing, this is just so that they don't fragment their player base because there's not enough players. If the game was popular enough to charge for it, they would do it. AAAs do it for the money.

It definitely alleviates population woes but I would argue that even CoD suffers from bad fragmentation.

I bought my copy last night on PC, loving it! Everyone who is sick of the game industry's bullshit right now needs to purchase this game!

But EA is really really shitty.

that is true, However this is EA testing not being shitty, if it flops then it reinforces EA's choice to be shitty, if it explodes then it might show them that having good Business practices instead of shitty ones is profitable.

[–]Clout- 0

Do you honestly think that Titanfall 2 selling well will change EA's business practices in the future? I'm sorry but that is just naive. Things like Season passes in Battlefield games or Ultimate Team in FIFA bring in a very large amount of money for a very small amount of work. Even if Titanfall 2 were to sell extremely well, it would be a large amount of money for a large amount of work. DLCs, Season passes, exploitative microtransactions are the low-hanging fruit of the video game industry and big companies like EA will continue to cash in on them.

If it explodes then it vindicates their awful release schedule.

I'm just torn between whether I should get it on PC or console..

There are some pretty epic moments in this game's multiplayer. I love it.

If the game tanks it'll be the publishers fault for releasing it at the worst possible time, right between it's two major highly established competitors.

The game looks interesting and well made but I don't want to support Origin and EA.

I would if the multiplayer still wasn't just 6v6. And no, the "pilot only mode" doesn't count.

I would have it since launch were it not for having my car totalled. This game looks insanely good. I can't wait to support those devs. I have never enjoyed a shooter as much as I enjoyed Titanfall 1.

I would, but I'm not into that type of shooter.

I REALLY want to play TF2, but I already bought Skyrim SE and that was the gaming budget for a month or two. Shoutout to the Devs though for making a seemingly great game without the DLC scamming!

I did but the key GreenManGaming sent me was invalid.

i need this gammme

DOOM was good too. Doesn't mean people should pay full price for it. The game is still there when it goes on sale.

I'm not playing TF2 because I don't like shooters like that. I like open war-oriented shooters so this BF1.

I've only played a half hour of the campaign, but it's super fun. Just wish I had the time like I used to to play games for hours. Having kids really sucks the fun out of gaming.

What if i have to eat? 69,99 euros is quite alot...

I bought it. Really like the Campaign so far. Great acrobatics, guns feel good. Honestly the Titan combat isn't that great but I am used to the FASA games of old so I doubt anything can live up to that in this genre. Never the less, game is solid af.

once i scrap some money together ill probably get it , i liked the first one

What platform will give me the most enjoyment? PC or XboxOne. I want to buy the game but I want to have the best experience with a strong community.

Do what I financially can't and support great games like this. From all accounts, Titanfall 2 has been a stellar game that is falling behind on sales in probably one of the worst times to release.

Oh Infinity Ward works hard. It's Activision that makes most of the shit decisions.

Don't give COD a bad rep for its devs- Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games are fucking talented developers.

It's the publisher that makes the (albeit) shit decisions, but it makes them money.

If you need any proof, Infinity Ward frequents the Infinite Warfare Reddit, actually listening (very well I might add) and doing their jobs correctly. They have changed a shit ton of things that were requested from the community since the beta and to be honest they made a solid game.

Been playing BF1. Way too many game releases in such a small window

something i havent seen mentioned in any of these threads is the lengths this dev went to to listen to community feedback. So many of the complaints from titanfall 1 have been answered, and it makes for a truly great experience. Campaign and season pass stuff were my two initial complaints for titanfall 1, and the new campaign and business plan feel very pro-consumer. Jim sterling put it perfectly when he said that this is the TRUE beginning of titanfall

So, just making sure I follow, I should feel bad for buying IW and enjoying it?

No, do what u like! This is about supporting TF2, not hating on COD

I'm having a fantastic time with this game. I enjoy it more than I thought I would. It is taking away from the time i thought i'd be spending playing battlefield 1

Quoting Smosh here:

"So come on and play [Titanfall 2], because if we don't show our love of fresh new games, they'll keep making shit Call of Dutys until the end of time!"

If only supporting Titanfall 2 wasn't supporting origin. I've grudgingly got all my battlefield games on origin and i mostly hate it. I really don't think EA or origin deserve their cut of the money and i think the dev's should learn who not to get in bed with, especially EA with a knife to your back ;)

“You think about the business differently than you might an existing franchise like a FIFA or a Madden. And what that means is we’re looking for ways to not fragment the player base early, but to include as everybody as possible and as we can to continue to build that franchise.”

From the CFO. So in other words, buying Titanfall 2 will not make the, think again about DLC for other 'well established' franchises. In other words, once they get people loving the franchise they will then start releasing games in the series with DLC.

Ok so we should not buy a game from a AAA publisher even though its good just for the fear they might add DLC next game

Why is this game so great? Seriously, what makes it revolutionary compared to the Battlefield series or any other team/squad based shooter?

I'm naive, but isn't this just an FPS with old Mechwarrior mixed in?

Great combat and movement, great gun feel and epic moments as u fight enemy pilots and then u jump into epic titan combat and back at pilot combat again...It's fun and fluid

Already bought titanfall 2, but I still say theres nothing wrong with paying for DLC.

If it was meaningful DLC (see witcher 3 EXPANSIONS) sure but most are trash

Well the release date killed it. I hope it will be a later succes when the free DLC-s start to coming in.

This titanfall 2 hype on reddit is without a doubt a marketing scheme by the team that made the game.

Is it better to play the first game before the second, a la Witcher, or can TiF2 just be jumped right into.
