I've been a united fan basically as long as I can remember. Born in '91 in Manchester, I saw it all. Champions League dominance, league dominance, the winner of the ballon d'or being a boy from our club, chanting "champions of England, champions of Europe!" from the Stretford end. But these days no more. And I'm not bitter, I'm older now and pragmatic so I see that, as a fan of good football, everything has its ups and downs. I was championing Leicester as much as anyone last season - and even kinda wanted them to beat us at Old Trafford and win the league if I'm being totally honest (it was a strange confliction I'll admit)
But onto my point. I think Fergie has let us a down, at least a little anyway. I understand that with illness in the family, mortality struck home and decided to leave the club infact fairly quickly. To me now it seems like that might have been a bit rushed and has given rise to the issues we have today to get into the mentality of winning again.
Let me put it to you this way, if Fergie came back now, with this squad, you could imagine us taking the league again couldn't you? Imagine it. He is a man of that magnitude that it would pick up the players so fast it would change everything such is his aura on footballers. Think Tom cleverly winning the league.
So then why didn't he make sure the club would continue in this winning pattern? He should have really given it 24 months, retired giggs and taken him to one side to be his assistant and trained him up extensively in the art of winning. His chosen one instead of David Moyes. And to that point I think the players more than anything let Moyes down, the shock of losing Ferguson alone being too much to bare for them and finishing 7th.
So that's basically why I think Fergie has let us down a bit... Thanks for reading, I know reddit is kinda like throwing your thoughts into the thought pool and getting everyone's value on what you just typed so be nice hahah even if you dont agree!
