For me it wasn't the rapping so much as it was the content. In like 99% of the features I listened to, Jay-Z gets a bit lost in the plot of what a song is about. It wasn't bad, but the fact that he was vastly outperformed by the less experienced Nikki Minaj at the time also didn't help.

Her verse is clearly recorded in multiple takes, the rhyme scheme is mostly unimpressive, and her flow is really nothing special there. I have never gotten the praise for that verse, and I've listened to that track upwards of 200 times. It's not even a top 5 verse on the album.
