I've been an avid poster on this Sub for more than 4 years and I've made a personal call to give it up... You can no longer have a conversation about football any more and I just feel shit about this club every time I read stuff here. It is now full of angry reactionary people who have nothing better to do than complain or pick a side either hating or defending someone. I'm fairly sick of it and I'm sorry to the devs who have tirelessly kept this place in check. I had lots of good times here and will leave it with those.

Not many people will see this post because it will be, like every real post on this sub - downvoted to oblivion.

Adios muchacos.

I'm taking my United fandom somewhere less angry and more coherent.

I basically just use the sub as a news aggregator only now.

It's a shame because the community used to be absolutely fantastic. I can remember the names of the real quality guys and it's noticeable that they've all left.

Haven't been on a match thread consistently for months and I enjoy United so much more.

People have a right to be frustrated. The club has gone from being one of the most dominant in the world to struggling at a mid-table level the past 4 years with little sign of progress despite several manager changes and incredible sums of money spent. If you have a problem with people having human reactions to negative events then lock yourself in a box where you don't interact with society because frankly that's how human nature works.

The anger is warranted though, the squad aren't performing at their best and we aren't pleased with it. Why should we be? We're one of the worlds biggest clubs, we shouldn't aspire for mediocrity and be happy with just winning the odd game. That said though, this sub is very reactionary and a lot of it isn't warranted, a lot of the time you'll see people saying Rooney has played awfully and then he gets a dodgy goal or assist and then everyone's opinion of him changes to suddenly if you ever said anything negative about the man you aren't a true United fan. It's swings and roundabouts but nowhere else feels as good as here and I can nearly guarantee you'll be back.

To be fair, it isn't just this sub. It happens in other football forums too. I think the one thing partially separating the issue is that on other forums the community is more closely bound to shut down any reactionary posts.

Reddit presumably reaches a more global audience, and such reactions aren't shut down, so they snowball. - And by shutdown, I don't mean the mods coming in deleting shit, I means the actual posters will divert the discussion back on track (in theory).

This sub is one of the less reactionary places I've been to tbh. The mods here do a great job of keeping shit posts out. Speaking of which, why is this obvious attention seeker not getting removed? Who honestly cares if he's leaving? I'm not losing sleep over it personally.

The few ruin it for the larger base sadly
